Chapter 134 - Feed You When We’re Home
Chapter 134: Feed You When We’re Home
Tang Yifeng was tongue tied following what Jiang Xuecheng said. Lu Xiao saw that he was humiliated and she laughed uncontrollably.
Jiang Xuecheng’s eyes swept across both of them and eventually stopped on Tang Yifeng. Then, his voice became serious.
“Alright, jokes aside, how’s your investigation on our case of being attacked in March, Yifeng?”
On that day, he and Tang Yifeng had an appointment and they ended up encountering a group of bandits on their way. To reduce the danger faced, both of them had split up to run their separate ways.
That was also the day Jiang Xuecheng ran into Su Wan. Their unexpected meeting was not very joyous for Su Wan.
Tang Yifeng was stupefied for a while. He put down the glass in his hand and wiped away his frivolous smile, his tone becoming heavy.
“I’m empty-handed. It’s as if that group of people had appeared out of nowhere and disappeared in thin air, leaving nothing behind.”
“Ah, with both of your abilities, you still have not caught those bandits? I thought…”
Lu Xiao had heard Tang Yifeng mention this incident. Stunned, she examined the two men in the room. When she saw his expression, she shut her mouth immediately.
“Do you think it’s so easy to search for people?”
Tang Yifeng sulkily shot Lu Xiao a glance. As he said, he shook his head with hard to hide worries, “All the surveillance available on that street was damaged. It’s obviously premeditated.”
Jiang Xuecheng knocked on the table and started frowning. His cold face had that gloominess which could not be brushed away.
“The most important thing is, how did they know we were going out together that day? What’s their motive? Who are they targeting?”
As there were too many of them that day, he had gotten his back injured while Tang Yifeng had injured his hand.
Moreover, when he and Tang Yifeng had gone different ways, the men in black split themselves into two groups when chasing them. It meant they were not against one single person.
When Tang Yifeng heard Jiang Xuecheng’s question, he instantly understood what he meant.
Tang Yifeng’s brows knitted tightly and a ray flashed through his eyes.
“Who on your side knew your schedule, especially the location of our appointment? I did not tell anyone about our appointment.”
Hearing this question, Jiang Xuecheng was taken aback. Then, he became firm again.
“I had mentioned it to Ah Si, but Ah Si grew up with the Jiang family. He would definitely not betray me. Moreover, Ah Si has nothing to gain if he were to betray me.”
Tang Yifeng’s lips moved. He was hesitant about saying ‘don’t judge a book by its cover’ but when he saw the firmness in Jiang Xuecheng, he swallowed his words.
Jiang Xuecheng thought highly of Ah Si and passed everything to Ah Si to manage. One can well perceive the good relationship and trust between the two.
Jiang Xuecheng had always lived up to his principle of ‘if you use a man, don’t suspect him and if you suspect him, don’t use him.’
However, in Tang Yifeng’s eyes, this personality of his was undoubtedly a deadly weakness. If someone close to him wished to harm him, the possibility of success would be higher than other people.
This was especially so when it came to the girl, Su Wan, whom Jiang Xuecheng had just married. Both of them had not known each other for long and Jiang Xuecheng loved and doted on her so much as if he had no reason to be wary of her.
Tang Yifeng glanced at Jiang Xuecheng. On one hand, he admired Jiang Xuecheng for having this trust with people close to him but on the other hand, he was worried for him.
Jiang Xuecheng could sense something amiss with Tang Yifeng. He took a sip of water and asked, “What’s wrong?”
Tang Yifeng smiled lazily and replied, “I was just thinking, when you met the men in black, didn’t Su Wan save you?”
“It definitely can’t be her!”
Jiang Xuecheng’s eyes swept across Tang Yifeng and his voice became calm. “Let’s put aside the fact that I chose Su Wan. If it was her plan and if she was so good at acting, she wouldn’t be bullied by the Su family.”
“She’s your soft spot and your fatal point, and she’s merely used a little more than a month.”
Tang Yifeng raised his brows and felt his judgment to be objective. The former Jiang Xuecheng would not treat others so gently but Su Wan had become the exception.
Love, to Tang Yifeng, was like a double-edged sword. Tang Yifeng felt he couldn’t give his back to a weak woman.
Jiang Xuecheng knew what Tang Yifeng meant. Suddenly, he felt agitated.
“I won’t let her get hurt.”
Seeing how Jiang Xuecheng defended Su Wan, Tang Yifeng shrugged and replied, “Alright, I’ve said too much.”
Watching the two men giving each other tit for tat and how the atmosphere became tenser, Lu Xiao immediately mediated.
“Why are you two discussing about Ms. Su? This will not help in finding the bandits.”
Jiang Xuecheng and Tang Yifeng realized they had diverted and both of them finally fell into silence.
Just then, Su Wan returned from the washroom. When she pushed the door opened, she heard Lu Xiao mentioning “Ms. Su” faintly.
Why were they talking about her?
Furthermore, all three of their facial expressions did not look good. The previous relaxed and joyous atmosphere had disappeared.
What happened?
Feeling stunned, Su Wan examined Jiang Xuecheng and sat down beside him. She couldn’t help but ask, “Were you talking about me just now? Why is everyone looking weird?”
Lu Xiao pursed her lips and smiled. She raised her delicate finger and brushed away a few strands of hair on her cheeks in a charming manner.
“We were saying that Master Tang is too stingy. The Black Swan cake he bought is too small and more than half the cake has gone into my stomach. We were afraid you’d be hungry.”
Is that so?
When Su Wan saw Jiang Xuecheng sitting on the sofa in an upright position without moving, she blinked and asked, “Why do I feel as if you were all gossiping about me?”
“How can it be? Your husband is sitting right here, how would we dare talk bad about you?”
Lu Xiao’s beautiful eyes curved, as if hearing something unbelievable and extremely funny.
Su Wan nudged Jiang Xuecheng and was about to ask him when Jiang Xuecheng turned sideways and asked, “Wan Wan, you ate very little today. Are you hungry?”
That pair of long and cold eyes focused on Su Wan with a faint smile.
Su Wan was taken aback. She wanted to say she had no appetite but heard Jiang Xuecheng adding on, “Why don’t I feed you when we’re home?”
When Jiang Xuecheng uttered these words, his voice was low and hoarse and he stressed on the word ‘feed’, as if he meant something else.
Tang Yifeng and Lu Xiao stared at Su Wan. She blushed and replied immediately, “No, thank you. I’m not hungry!”
Was it fun to tease her like this?
Moreover, there were others around!
