Chapter 231: Spirit Barrier
Sensing their auras, Xu Qingsui immediately realized that both of them had gone berserk and were already fighting. Without a second thought, she rushed toward the source of the energy. As soon as she arrived, she saw the two men going all out, launching relentless attacks at each other.
Since both were in a berserk state, simply shouting would do nothing to stop them. Steeling herself, Xu Qingsui charged forward as well. Facing two SSS level sentinels, she was risking everything. She had even prepared herself for the worst—failing to stop them, getting caught in their crossfire, and being crippled in the process.
At the last moment, she tightly shut her eyes, reached out both hands, and threw herself between them. Without realizing it, she also released her spiritual power. By a stroke of luck, her spiritual power entered both of their Seas of Consciousness, temporarily stabilizing their conditions and preventing a tragedy.
Landing back on her feet, she was astonished. However, with two berserk SSS level sentinels in front of her, there was no time to celebrate. She frantically tried to figure out how to guide them. Both urgently needed to be guided, but she was the only guide around. Finding someone to cover for her and buy a little time was impossible. Furthermore, she wasn’t powerful enough to guide two people simultaneously; in fact, she had never even heard of a guide capable of such multitasking.
Utterly out of ideas, Xu Qingsui hastily summoned the Golden Octopus. “System, both of them have gone berserk right now. What should I do?”
“With the host’s current abilities, you cannot guide multiple people simultaneously. You can only guide them one by one.”
Xu Qingsui’s mouth twitched. “Did I really need it to remind me of that?” she thought. She only asked because she knew she had to guide them separately but had no idea how to pull it off smoothly. And it was just going to give her these unhelpful comments?
After silently cursing the Golden Octopus out in her head, Xu Qingsui spoke again. “I know I have to guide them separately, but given the current situation, how can I successfully guide both of them?”
After all, both men were in a berserk state. If she guided one, the other would undoubtedly attack them. Leaving aside whether the two engaged in the guiding process could withstand a full-force blow from a berserk sentinel, even if they luckily survived it, suddenly interrupting the process would cause severe backlash. It would be just like what happened to Chen Yunfei. Back then, she had been there to help Chen Yunfei break through his closed-off state, but if these two ended up sealing off their Spiritual Worlds, no one would be able to save them.
If that happened, both of them would likely be confined to their beds. But while Chen Yunfei had Chen Chang’an to take care of him, it wasn’t guaranteed that these two would have anyone waiting on them.
Wait! Whether it was Lu Jingyu or Shen Yan, they probably both had plenty of servants. It was only her who would be left lying in bed to rot with bedsores. At this thought, a profound sense of bleakness washed over Xu Qingsui.
Sensing her emotional shift, the Golden Octopus actually couldn’t bear it. Feeling a pang of compassion, it offered a few more words of advice.
“Actually, in this situation, you just need to shield one person’s spirit body first. Trap the spirit body, and as long as it is confined and hasn’t broken through its restraints, it won’t be able to control the physical body to wreak havoc.
“You simply need to use that window of time to guide the other person. Once successful, you can then guide the first person.
“That is all I will say. You can figure out how to execute it yourself! Oh, right, you just acquired a new skill. When you have free time, don’t forget to study what else this skill can do.”
By the end, the Golden Octopus sounded as if it were casually chatting before it promptly vanished. However, its words continued to echo in Xu Qingsui’s mind. A vibrant gleam suddenly burst from her previously gloomy eyes.
“Hehe! This stinky seafood is actually pretty friendly after all!” she thought happily. “I’ll have to change my opinion of it from now on. Starting with never calling it stinky seafood again!”
Grasping the hidden meaning behind the Golden Octopus’s words, Xu Qingsui’s gaze immediately swept back and forth between Lu Jingyu and Shen Yan. After mulling it over, she decided to start with Lu Jingyu. Shen Yan’s situation was unique, making his guiding process relatively more troublesome. She wasn’t sure how long her new skill could keep them under control, so she needed to pick the easier one to guide first.
Without hesitation, she used her new skill on Shen Yan. Following her guidance, she used her spiritual power to lock down Shen Yan’s Sea of Consciousness. Surprisingly, under this manipulation, her spiritual power actually showed signs of solidifying. She could even visibly see her golden spiritual power wrapping tightly around Shen Yan’s berserk aura.
Though mildly shocked, she didn’t dare waste any more time. She hurriedly turned to Lu Jingyu and began the guiding process. Xu Qingsui placed both hands on Lu Jingyu’s forehead. With the injection of her Spiritual Power, her spirit body entered Lu Jingyu’s Sea of Consciousness.
RUMBLE!
It was still that familiar ocean domain, but this time, the moment Xu Qingsui entered, she was greeted by a succession of explosive thunderclaps. A blanket of dark clouds pressed menacingly low over the surface of the sea, with bolts of lightning constantly snaking and flashing within the gloom.
BOOM!
Another deafening clap of thunder erupted. Not far away, the seawater suddenly began to churn, whipping up a violent whirlpool. In the next second, a rapidly rotating waterspout shot out from the center of the whirlpool. It spiraled upward, piercing straight into the black clouds, then punched right through them to continue its ascent toward the heavens. As the water and the sky merged, at first glance, it looked as though a hole had been torn in the sky and a pillar of water was cascading down.
Just as Xu Qingsui stood awestruck by the spectacle, several more waterspouts erupted from the surface in quick succession, connecting the sky and the sea once more.
RUMBLE!
As if the heavens themselves were enraged by this, several terrifying bolts of lightning struck the waterspouts. However, instead of destroying the pillars of water, the lightning was swallowed by them. In an instant, the electrical currents were transmitted throughout the entire ocean. The whole surface of the sea sparked with flickering arcs of lightning.
Seeing such a terrifying scene, Xu Qingsui felt a slight urge to retreat. After all, just imagining the sensation of being struck by lightning was far from pleasant. But based on her past experiences, the Little Black Dragon definitely wouldn’t show itself easily.
After a moment of thought, a plan formed in Xu Qingsui’s mind. Staring at the rolling electrical surges, she finally began to walk forward at a slow, deliberate pace.
The moment she stepped into the seawater, the lightning coursing through the ocean immediately converged on her. Xu Qingsui halted her steps, allowing the lightning to travel into her body. Rather than showing a single trace of pain, a sly smile crept onto her face after feeling it out for a moment.
“I knew it! This really works!” she thought.
Remembering how she had utilized her Fire Attribute to adapt to the sea of fire in Shen Yan’s Spiritual World during his previous guiding sessions, Xu Qingsui figured she might be able to use her Thunder Attribute to adapt to the lightning in this seawater.
Sure enough, she succeeded. Furthermore, she confirmed another suspicion of hers. After guiding Shen Yan those previous few times, she had noticed a massive improvement in her internal Fire Attribute. Unlike the standard growth from merely using the Fire Attribute, this enhancement was significantly more pronounced and solid.
