Chen Chang’an’s eyes widened when he saw Lu Jingyu smiling and asking for a drink.
But he only stared for a moment before bursting into laughter himself.
"Wait here! It’s been a long time since I’ve had a good, hearty drink myself."
With that, Chen Chang’an actually turned and left.
Lu Jingyu gazed at the room and offered a silent prayer before heading to a nearby pavilion to wait for Chen Chang’an.
A moment later, Chen Chang’an returned with two jars of wine and even a bag of peanuts.
"I didn’t prepare anything, so this is all I’ve got. If you’re too good for it, go drink somewhere else!"
Chen Chang’an tossed the peanuts in front of Lu Jingyu with a look of nonchalance.
Lu Jingyu smiled as he took the peanuts. "This is my favorite snack to have with a drink," he said. "If it were anything else, I’d have to think twice!"
The corners of Chen Chang’an’s mouth lifted. He sat down across from Lu Jingyu, opened his wine jar, and took a long, hard swig.
His gaze shifted to the distance as he slowly began to speak. "Jing Yu, these past three years have been hard on you."
Lu Jingyu froze for a second but didn’t say a word. He picked up the other jar of wine and took a swig for himself.
"You’ve been with the Alliance for six years now. I’ve seen everything you’ve done. And while I wasn’t happy that your arrival made Yun Fei seem less outstanding, I can’t deny your skill."
"In fact, I’ve often thought that if Yun Fei were in your position today, he absolutely wouldn’t have done a better job than you."
Chen Chang’an sighed and took another swig of wine.
"It’s been hard on you all these years. I couldn’t let go of my anger, so I took it all out on you. I’m sorry. It’s a good thing you didn’t hold a grudge against this old man and kept trying to find a way to wake Yun Fei."
"Actually, I’ve been thinking about it lately. If Yun Fei didn’t wake up soon, I was prepared to give up. He wouldn’t want to just lie there forever if he had any say in it."
"And I don’t want to stay in this sorrowful place either. I was planning to find somewhere no one knows me and live out what little time I have left."
Lu Jingyu’s pupils dilated as he stared at Chen Chang’an in astonishment.
"Mr. Chen, please don’t say that. Yun Fei will be fine. I believe Guide Xu will wake him."
Chen Chang’an gave a bitter smile. "Let’s hope so."
He said he was hopeful, but all Lu Jingyu sensed was despair.
The two of them fell silent again. Just as the sound of their own breathing became distinct in the quiet, an energy wave suddenly pulsed from the room.
Feeling the energy wave, they both rushed out of the pavilion. They stood at the doorway but didn’t dare to burst inside.
They had no idea what was happening inside—whether it was good or bad. But they couldn’t risk it. They didn’t dare charge in recklessly and interfere with whatever was going on.
The two men stood outside, burning with anxiety, yet not daring to make a single sound.
Inside the Spiritual World, Xu Qingsui kept a close watch on the passing time.
’I’ve been in here for over an hour. The fight outside must have ended by now.’
’I’m not sure what the outcome was. Did Lu Jingyu let Elder Chen seriously injure him out of guilt?’
’Or maybe Lu Jingyu didn’t hold back and ended up hurting Elder Chen.’
’I can’t wait any longer. There’s still no sign of change from Chen Yunfei. I have to break the barrier in this place.’
But just as she prepared to make her move, she suddenly felt an energy wave.
Following the source of the fluctuation, she saw a layer of energy now rippling around Chen Yunfei, who was sitting cross-legged on the floor.
Various expressions flickered across his face, and large beads of sweat rolled down his forehead.
He looked like he was in immense pain.
Xu Qingsui couldn’t tell what was wrong, and not daring to disturb him, she slowly approached.
Just as she got in front of Chen Yunfei, he suddenly opened his eyes.
"I have to leave this place!" After Chen Yunfei spoke those words with great conviction, his cross-legged form vanished in an instant.
Xu Qingsui was dumbfounded. Just as she was about to search for him, the world around her began to shake violently.

Xu Qingsui’s brow furrowed. ’Of course I don’t want to stay here, but what on earth happened to Chen Yunfei?’
’If I fail to get him out and end up making things worse, how will I ever face Elder Chen and Lu Jingyu?’
Xu Qingsui was frantic, but the Spiritual World was trembling more and more violently.
She shouted Chen Yunfei’s name, hoping for a response, but the only reply was the sound of the Spiritual World crumbling around her.
The Golden Octopus kept urging her to leave the Spiritual World.
Spurred on by the Golden Octopus, she finally escaped at the last possible second.
"Qing Sui! Are you okay? Wake up!"
The moment Xu Qingsui regained consciousness, she heard an urgent voice calling her name.
Her vision slowly cleared, and Lu Jingyu’s anxious face came into focus.
"Yun... Yun Fei..." Still worried about Chen Yunfei, Xu Qingsui managed to say his name.
Just as she said it, a head peeked out from behind Lu Jingyu. It was Chen Yunfei, the very person she was worried about.
"You’re awake!" The moment she saw Chen Yunfei, Xu Qingsui felt her senses return completely.
Chen Yunfei nodded. "Thank you. If it weren’t for you, I might have been trapped in there forever."
Chen Chang’an stepped out from beside Chen Yunfei. "Guide Xu, I can’t thank you enough for what you did today. I won’t say more than this: I, Chen Chang’an, owe you a favor. If you ever need my help with anything, just ask. I’d go through hell and high water for you."
Seeing Chen Yunfei safe and sound, and knowing she had successfully completed her mission, was enough to make Xu Qingsui happy.
She simply waved off Chen Chang’an’s thanks. "Elder Chen, there’s no need to be so formal. When I heard what happened to Yun Fei, I just couldn’t stand the thought of such an outstanding Sentinel remaining comatose."
"But I do have to ask, how did you break the seal on your own? You couldn’t have given me a heads-up?"
’Thinking back on how I was shouting his name while the Spiritual World was collapsing around me... I feel so foolish.’
She couldn’t help but ask.
Chen Yunfei scratched his head, looking embarrassed. "Sorry, I was in a daze myself. The next thing I knew, I opened my eyes and I was awake."
