Chapter 430: Chapter 338: Handsome King and Vice Commander (3)
"That’s a lot of people, Commander. Your Magic Power..." the Holy Order Warrior said hesitantly.
"I’m just touching their hair, that’s all," Lingard said with a smile. ’I’m not planning on using any Magic Power anyway. I’ll just be symbolically touching their heads; these commoners won’t know whether they’ve been truly blessed.’
After the Holy Order Warrior relayed the message, the sailors whispered among themselves for a moment. They quickly reached an agreement, then jostled each other into a line in front of Lingard.
The sailor at the head of the line was rather burly, but he seemed timid and didn’t dare to look Lingard in the eye. "V-Vice Commander, what... what do I need to do?"
Lingard’s mouth twitched and he frowned slightly, but he then spoke in a gentle voice, "It’s alright. Just stand still."
With that, he reached out with his leather-gloved hand and placed it on the man’s head. "By the Divine Being above, I act in Its name. May the God of Battle and Glory bless you. You will become more confident and cherish honor. Your strong body will be your aid and will lead you to good fortune."
When he finished, Lingard lowered his hand, tilted his head back, and looked down his nose at the sailor before him.
"Vice Commander, is it done?" the sailor asked, looking at his own hands with a joyful expression.
Lingard gritted his teeth and snapped, "You’re done. Next."
Immediately, the man behind him impatiently pushed the first sailor aside and stepped forward. Clutching a tattered cloth cap in both hands, he said with a bowed back, "Lord Vice Commander, it’s my turn, my turn."
Lingard let out a soft snort and raised his hand.
And so it went until all the sailors had finally received their blessing. Lingard’s brow was deeply furrowed; hearing "Vice Commander" dozens of times had infuriated him, but he couldn’t lash out. At first, he had recited the long blessing, but by the end, he was just rattling off perfunctory phrases like, "May the God of Battle and Glory bless you, good luck," "May the Divine Being bless you, good luck," and "May the Divine Being bless you."
After the clamor died down, the Holy Order Army boarded a large cargo ship. Due to their large numbers and the lack of any large passenger vessels at the Yangjiao Town docks, they had to settle for a freighter.
The cargo ship swayed as it left the port and began to travel north, upstream on the Darren River. At the stern, several members of the Holy Order Army were casting Magic to propel the vessel.
「A few hours later」
A cargo ship arrived at the docks in Yangjiao Town. A short, mysterious figure in a Cloak leaped off the gangplank with a WHOOSH.
"Uncle, trust me, my plan will definitely work," the mysterious person whispered, scanning the surroundings as if afraid of being "noticed." "All those Adventurers go from Yangjiao Town to Torch City. Maybe I can ask around here and get some information on that guy."
"What do you mean, I’m running away? The word ’escape’ isn’t in my, Diana’s, vocabulary! I’m just fed up with the Torch City Public Security squad chasing me."
"Yes, yes, I’m searching! I promised you all a long time ago. When have I ever slacked off?"
"Don’t worry, it’ll work out. I’ll bet one of the Adventurers here is carrying Fourth Uncle. It’s not like he’s still buried in the Nightmare Forest, is he?"
"Shh, a patrol from the Yangjiao Town Public Security is coming over."
"Huh? Why am I afraid of the Yangjiao Town Public Security? It’s not like anyone from the Torch City Public Security Bureau is going to be here."
With that, she pulled down her hood, revealing blonde hair tied in a high ponytail.
「At the same time」
An intelligence report was delivered to Shire’s desk.
