Chapter 383 - 344: How Can the Exchange Roster Be Missing Lin Yi?
Chapter 383: Chapter 344: How Can the Exchange Roster Be Missing Lin Yi?
Second Senior Brother waved his hand. "Huh? What did you say? I can’t hear you. Oh man, what’s wrong with me today? My ears are ringing!"
"There’s this buzzing sound. I’d better go find Little Junior Sister and have her take a look!"
After saying that, Second Senior Brother played dumb and headed down the mountain toward the university.
Watching him leave, Zhong Yan smiled.
’I finally managed to put him off.’ That was just the kind of person Second Senior Brother was.
He always had to get to the bottom of everything.
If you didn’t tell him, he’d pester you endlessly.
So, Zhong Yan had come up with that excuse to give him some kind of answer.
After Second Senior Brother left, Zhong Yan made a beeline for the barrier.
When he arrived, the person on guard duty was none other than his Third Senior Brother, Yangtian.
"Third Senior Brother!"
"Huh? Junior Brother Zhong, when did you get back?"
The moment Third Senior Brother saw Zhong Yan, his face lit up with pleasant surprise.
Zhong Yan smiled. "I just got back. I heard Little Junior Brother went into seclusion again?"
"Sigh, tell me about it. He’s been in seclusion for several days now, and he shows no sign of coming out.
"You don’t think Little Junior Brother is... about to break through to the next realm again, do you?" Third Senior Brother asked in a hushed voice.
Even as he said it, he didn’t quite believe it himself.
But other than breaking through to a new realm,
what else could make Lin Yi go into seclusion for so long again?
It just didn’t make any sense.
Zhong Yan’s heart skipped a beat. ’Lin Yi is breaking through again?’
’If that’s true, wouldn’t that mean he’s about to step into the Divine Abyss Realm?’
’His realm would be the same as Master’s.’
’Even if his realm isn’t higher than those demonic beasts, at least with him in the fight, we should be able to contend with that great demon in the Restricted Area, right?’
If this news was true, it would be an absolutely wonderful thing for the Huawu Alliance.
But on second thought, Zhong Yan found his own idea laughable.
’How long has it been since Lin Yi stepped into the Star Tempering Realm?’
’It’s only been a few months. Even if he’s a Celestial Martial God with terrifyingly high Martial Arts talent,’
’there’s no way he could break through again in just a few short months, right?’
"Perhaps Little Junior Brother has encountered a difficult problem in his cultivation.
"It’s a shame Master isn’t here, and we can’t offer any help!
"After all, the gap between our realms is too large now. We don’t understand the matters of the Star Tempering Realm!
"No wonder Little Junior Brother called me before he came back to ask if Master was on the mountain. This must be why!"
Zhong Yan’s explanation made sense to Third Senior Brother.
He couldn’t help but sigh. "Given Little Junior Brother’s talent, if it’s a problem that even he finds confusing, then we really can’t help at all!"
"The only thing we can do is probably stand guard for him!"
"Oh, right, the Outer Alliance is coming here for a Martial Arts exchange!"
"A Martial Arts exchange?"
Zhong Yan was slightly taken aback. Third Senior Brother nodded and said, "A university exchange. To put it bluntly, it’s a martial arts competition!"
"A few days ago, Second Senior Brother even joined forces with several other universities to put pressure on Old Yao and the others!
"But the final decision hasn’t come down yet. The idea was to replace Lanshan with Tieshan and Divine Fist universities!"
Hearing this, Zhong Yan nodded.
"What if they also have a medical exchange, or a pharmaceutical exchange?
"Wouldn’t that put us at a disadvantage?"
The moment he said that, Third Senior Brother’s expression changed drastically.
"Of course! Why didn’t I think of that?
"A Martial Arts exchange isn’t just about competing. It could very well involve medicine and pharmacology!
"Junior Brother Zhong Yan, you’re really something else. We almost made a huge mistake. Can you stand guard here for me? I’m going to find Second Senior Brother and explain the situation!"
After Third Senior Brother finished speaking, he hurried down the mountain.
Zhong Yan watched him go, shaking his head with a smile.
He walked to the front of the barrier and glanced inside.
He couldn’t see anything about the situation within.
However, Zhong Yan could feel a powerful strand of Origin Qi leaking out from the barrier from time to time.
It would dissipate in the blink of an eye.
This showed that Lin Yi’s realm had already reached a level that even he had to look up to.
At this moment, he desperately hoped Lin Yi would become even stronger.
At least strong enough to lend a hand to the Elder Celestial Master and Yi Nanshan with the great demon in the Restricted Area.
’It would be even better if Lin Yi could leap across several realms in a row.’
’But alas...’
Zhong Yan turned his back to the barrier.
He walked to the tree and sat down cross-legged on the ground.
"Senior Uncle Zhong Yan, why don’t you go back to your room and rest? We have enough people here!"
A Little Daoist walked over and said to Zhong Yan.
He had just returned from the Restricted Area and hadn’t even had a chance to rest before taking over guard duty for Third Senior Brother.
A trace of exhaustion was already visible on his face.
Seeing this, the Little Daoists couldn’t bear it.
Zhong Yan shook his head. "No need. I’ll just rest here for a moment."
"Yes, Senior Uncle!"
Seeing that Zhong Yan was unwilling to go back, they all nodded and retreated to their positions.
...
「Xingwu University.」
「In the Chancellor’s Office.」
A call came in from Second Senior Brother.
He repeated what Zhong Yan had just said to Tang Baichuan.
Hearing this, Tang Baichuan also realized the issue.
He slapped his forehead and said, "It was my oversight!
"I was so focused on their malicious intent that I forgot they might also conduct a medical exchange.
"No wonder the higher-ups arranged for Lanshan University, which has no combat majors, to represent the Huawu Alliance in the Martial Arts exchange..."
"Alright, Daoist Zhao, I’ll contact Old Yao right away and explain the situation to him!
"Thanks to you all, we nearly made a huge mistake!"
After hanging up, Tang Baichuan immediately called Old Yao.
He repeated what Second Senior Brother had just told him.
As a result, there was silence on the other end of the line.
"Baichuan, you really need to change that temperament of yours!
"Don’t always act on impulse and think about changing the higher-ups’ decisions.
"The higher-ups consider things much more comprehensively than you or I do!
"As it happens, even if you hadn’t called me, I was about to call you. The decision from the higher-ups has come down!
"The original plan remains unchanged. It will still be mainly your Xingwu University, Martial Alliance University, Lanshan University, and Dragon Tiger University participating in this Martial Arts exchange!
"However, considering the uneven number of participants, the higher-ups have agreed to add Tieshan and Divine Fist universities!
"They’ll act as backup universities. If the numbers are truly unbalanced, they can have their students fill in the gaps. Also, the date for the Martial Arts exchange has been set!
"It’s on the eighteenth of next month. That’s a month and a half away, which is plenty of time for you all to prepare!
"Oh, right, for your Xingwu University student roster, add Lin Yi to it.
"Give him a spot, how about it?"
"Lin Yi?"
Tang Baichuan was taken aback. He frowned and said, "Is this the higher-ups’ decision?"
"No, it’s my idea. Lin Yi’s realm is impressive. It would be good if he could get an opportunity to grow through this Martial Arts exchange.
"Of course, you’re the chancellor of Xingwu University, so the final decision is yours. I’m just giving you a suggestion!"
With that, Old Yao hung up the phone.
Tang Baichuan, on the other hand, was lost in thought.
’Actually, it’s not out of the question to have Lin Yi participate in this Martial Arts exchange.’
’Right now, Lin Yi is the ace of our Xingwu University.’
’He contributed a great deal during the last attack by the men in black.’
’And he earned the respect of the entire student body.’
’If we don’t include Lin Yi in this Martial Arts exchange,’
’it would be a little hard to justify.’
Tang Baichuan picked up the phone again and made a call.
After a long moment, he said in a deep voice, "Old Yao, go to Dormitory Zone 1 and bring Lin Yi to my office!"
