Chapter 1876: Chapter 586: This Is My Escape Route! (6k)
"Move! Careful!"
"Damn it, this route’s blown! I’ll hold them off! Full force, push inward!"
The Third-tier believer grabbed a strange firearm that looked like a water gun, yanked out a test tube from his body and swapped it into the bottle socket at the back of the water gun. He roughly took aim and snapped the trigger.
In the next instant, what shot out of the barrel wasn’t a bullet, nor splashing liquid.
A stream of Magic Power the same color as the Potion turned into something that looked like liquid, yet wasn’t bound by gravity, and the Magic Power Attack flew straight ahead.
You could even see that Attack behaving like actual liquid, slowly changing shape in midair.
If not for the speed being far beyond ordinary bullets, you’d never imagine this was an Attack.
But along the trajectory of this Attack, the encirclement troops who had already witnessed it more than once felt their hearts jolt. They decisively gave up the chase, pulled back, and shifted into defense.
The Magic Power, fluid-like, struck an empty stretch of wall, slapping against it like real liquid.
Yet the more it looked like that, the more tense the encirclement troops became, driving their defenses with everything they had.
Because they knew what was coming next.
The Magic Power, crimson shot through with flickering gold, suddenly turned violent, its concentrated energy swelling and detonating.
Boom—
A thunderous blast erupted from the pool of liquid, flipping the encirclement troops head over heels.
By the time the encirclement troops recovered from the explosion, the fleeing believers were already gone, leaving only the squad captain at the front to growl in fury.
"As expected, again! What the hell is that kind of Divine Arts..."
This wasn’t their first time running into it. From over ten minutes ago, when they first encountered those believers, they had already seen that Potion gun firing.
A strike that looked utterly ordinary, yet could unleash force on par with a 4th Rank full-power blow.
You had to understand, they’d already assessed the danger level here in advance. Across their whole squad, the strongest was only a Fifth Tier, and he hadn’t even been assigned to the team.
After all, they were just a minor, unremarkable squad, and the Three Great Civilizations had already thrown their main Combat Power into the New Star Zone battlefield. Given how lacking their Strength was here...
Faced with a Red Moon Church stronghold that wasn’t all that powerful, it was impossible for them to deploy any truly high-end Combat Power.
In a Combat Power emergency, randomly assigning over-spec Magic Power would be nothing but waste.
But that also meant they had no choice but to avoid the brunt of that force.
Originally, they’d thought that even if you could fire an Attack of that magnitude, there’s no way you could keep doing it.
Except from the very first shot until now, that believer had already fired more than ten blasts of the same level. Even a genuine 4th Rank would have drained their Magic Power dry by now, yet that believer launching the Attacks was clearly just Tier Three!
"Report those believers’ positions!"
The squad captain at the front raised a hand to the comms device at his ear. A new set of coordinates immediately came up on the small virtual screen before his eyes.
"Keep chasing!
They’re at most Tier Three; they must have used some kind of unconventional means.
Otherwise they’d be proving themselves by clashing head-on with us, no need to run!"
The captain bellowed, and the teammates behind him regained a bit of confidence, then once more sprinted in pursuit along the believers’ escape route.
With their teammates in the rear providing long-range support, even though the terrain here was completely unfamiliar, it didn’t stop them from using certain methods to monitor the believers’ movement.
"Heads up, they’re already charging toward Sector 4 and are very likely trying to break through the line.
Radiance, don’t let them get away."
Outside the encirclement, a Transcendent from the Gemini Empire maintained a long-range scrying Spell, clutching a comms device as he shouted into the channel.
The other members of the encirclement forces around him, hearing his shout, tacitly stayed away so as not to interfere. They simply held to their own posts, quietly piecing together the on-site situation from his booming commands.
Compared to using small flying robots to scry, Spells were still a bit more covert. Even if the scrying was detected, it was hard to shut it down.
They’d already wiped out more than one stronghold in recent days, and after trying several times, their small robots had been discovered and blown up by Spells, letting the targets slip away.
The Saien Civilization’s squad commander originally in charge had begun to crack under the strain, and in the end was replaced by this guy from the Empire.
And as it happened, this Empire Magician did in fact have some talent for command.
In the subsequent series of encirclements, this Magician performed excellently; everyone trusted his command.
Granted, those two encirclements also ended in failure, but that was entirely the frontline fighters’ mistakes!
Once, they failed to keep up with the orders, opening a major gap in the encirclement. Another time, they got careless, and two Transcendents from different civilizations actually botched their coordination, resulting in a successful breakout...
This time, they had to succeed!
They had to earn Radiance (Saien) back some face!
Not only the Transcendents standing guard on the scene, but also the others within the encirclement, as well as the Transcendents inside currently chasing the believers, all began to harbor similar thoughts in turn, gripping their weapons a shade tighter.
And all of this had already been taken in fully by the Magician still commanding the operation.
Looks like all that tactical command training back then didn’t go to waste...
Throughout this stretch of commands, none of them had spotted any problems.
In the Magician’s eyes, no fewer than twenty separate feeds flashed at once. Aside from one view fixed on the believers, all the rest tracked the movements of his own teammates.
He’d basically folded the entire improvised battlefield into his view.
