Chapter 86: Pretty Exciting Just Thinking About It
Chapter 86: Pretty Exciting Just Thinking About It
Afterwards, Leili gave some additional detailed explanations to the members of Vivian’s party, such as where to assemble and what kind of route and actions to take to avoid being noticed while secretly transporting the target to the capital.
Vivian as the party leader will have to be fully responsible for those matters, so she very seriously listened to amd memorized off of Leili’s explanations. Diere, Lumia, and Melika also listened attentively. They seemed to be taking the quest this time particularly seriously.
One must take is seriously after all.
The prisoner being transported is a level 77 demon. He was also one of the major masterminds behind the mass assassination plot in the capital ten years ago. At the time, who knows now many nobility or royalty were killed. All the higher ups in the capital must utterly hate that guy and probably would want to personally exact revenge. Thus, the importance of this transportation quest does not bear mentioning.
This was in addition to the fact that this also affected the Old Demon Faction. No matter how one looks at it, the quest this time cannot be considered typical, so everyone absolutely have to give 120% of their all to deal with it.
Only Shien alone look like he was seriously listening, but in his mind, he had been continuously chanting a single sentence for some time.
“Now what to do?”
Based on the current situation, it was probably impossible to deal the Old Demon Faction a blow now.
“Should I first discuss this with that young lady?”
Shien thought a moment before quickly dismissing it.
Although he did agree to work together with Leisha, this particular quest really just was too important. If he leaked it to Leisha and she ended up doing something harmful for the sake of her own goals, then Shien really would be too ashamed to face Vivian anymore.
Compared to Leisha, Shien naturally would rather stand on Vivian’s side instead.
After all, Shien doesn’t fully trust Leisha yet. His relationship with Leisha can be called cooperative if putting it nicely, but to put it less nicely, the two were just temporarily on the same side while pursuing their individual goals. It’d be strange to claim that the two have any real trust or faith in the other.
Why else would Shien have taken such a tough attitude in front of her?
It was because Shien was still cautious of Leisha.
Compared to that, it was not just Vivian, but also Leili and Diere who also helped him out a lot. The amount they helped him with didn’t even need to be spoken of. Given that, there was no way that Shien could ignore their generosity.
Shien was truly grateful to Vivian and company.
Thus, Shien thought that he shouldn’t leak this matter to Leisha.
“Worst comes to worst, I’ll just ignore the Old Demon Faction.”
Originally, Shien only wanted to strike at the Old Demon Faction because he didn’t want to fall into the usual plot where the bad guys ended up coming after him in revenge.
If it was impossible, then Shien won’t insist on it.
“No matter what, I am a guy with a cheat after all. If something really does happen, it’s not like I won’t be able to do anything, right?”
With such thoughts in mind, Shien just gave up without any worries. He decided to not mind any other details and just joined Vivian and group in seriously listening to Leili’s explanations.
The explanations took a full hour. Only after did Leili let everyone leave.
Afterwards, everyone ended up discussing the matter among themselves for a while before separating.
Everyone needed to do some preparations of their own for the oncoming task two days from now.
“I-I need to first take care of my family!”
Lumia very nervously stated. She was obviously worried about how to make sure that her seven young little sisters will be taken care of during the time she’s going to be gone from Lamdrion.
“I need to ask my elven seniors about some useful magic and magic item creations.”
Melika also wanted to do as much preparations as possible.
“I can leave anytime.”
Diere was as cool and calm as always. It was as if she was telling everyone that she could shift to a state of maximum combat readiness at any moment.
As for Vivian, she hesitated a few moments before asking Shien a question.
“It’s one thing for us, but are you really planning on joining this particular quest too?”
Vivian seemed to be worried about something.
It couldn’t be helped.
“Logically speaking, you’re still a newbie in the middle of probationary testing, so there’s no need for you to accompany us in such an important quest.” Vivian spoke seriously to Shien, “If you want to stay here in Lamdrion, then just say so.”
It seemed that Vivian didn’t plan on treating Shien special just because he was special.
Shien knew that Vivian didn’t want him to think that they just wanted to use his power.
Others might not understand, but Vivian and Diere knew more or less that Shien was hiding his full power. Thus, they didn’t want to make the decision on this quest for him without his own permission, right?
To that, Shien only had a single statement.
“Am I not a member of this party?”
Shien’s firm statement slightly shocked Vivian and group.
At the very least, Vivian was somewhat moved by it.
“Since you’re saying that much.”
Vivian smiles as she apologized to Shien.
Shien also smiled back to assuage Vivian, but inside, he was muttering to himself.
(If I stayed here, then when that young lady finds out that I hid this matter without letting her know, and made her wait here uselessly for so long, she’d probably end up searching me out to make me pay of it, right?)
Shien didn’t really fear her, but rather than having her annoy him, Shien would rather see that young lady get pissed off over being unable to find him.
Shien felt like it was pretty exciting just thinking about it.
Thus, the group decided to assemble two days from then, and then dispersed.
Shien also left the guild and directly returned to the inn.
Those two days passed in the blink of an eye.
Soon, the time for the secret quest had come.
Shien did as Vivian told him. He prepared some changes of clothes as well as basic necessities and put them all into a bag. Then, he grabbed the similarly wrapped up Holy Sword along with him and left the inn.
However, Shien didn’t head to the guild. Instead, he headed straight for the center of Lamdrion.
There, there was an enormous building exclusively used by the guild.
The building was much like the adventurer’s guild itself. It was also set on an open fiend. However, this field was surrounded by fences. There were also knights all around patrolling and training. It was like a military base, with a serious and disciplined atmosphere.
