Chapter 1254: Chapter 11: The Emperor Turned into a Dog
"Well then, once Kai Xin recovers, can I take him to play with Grand Empress Dowager?" Princess’s heart finally found peace at this moment.
"Of course you can, look at our little Wan Zi, your eyes are all black underneath. You must have been worried about Kai Xin and didn’t sleep well, right? Now be good, go eat something and sleep. When you wake up, Kai Xin will be much better." Tianmiao touched the Princess’s little face and said with a smile.
"Then I’ll be good and go to sleep." Princess nodded, then looked at Kai Xin again, "Kai Xin, you must try hard, get well soon so we can play together."
The Princess hugged Tianmiao again, and then was led away by Lianhua to sleep.
After Princess went to sleep, Tianmiao sat down and said to the Empress, "No need to worry."
"Mother, I’m not worried, since you said Little Dog won’t die, I believe you have a way." Empress smiled slightly as she spoke.
"No, I’m not referring to that. Wan Zi wouldn’t call someone else mother." Tianmiao smiled.
The Empress was taken aback.
It was known that the Emperor always intended to remove the Empress. He argued about this issue with ministers in court, and although nothing came of it eventually, the Emperor clearly stated that once the Imperial Concubine gave birth to a prince, he would make her the Empress. Regardless of who tried to persuade him, he wouldn’t listen.
Yet, the Empress Dowager never dissuaded the Emperor from this matter. She only took extra care of the Empress and Princess in life, making the Empress think that the Empress Dowager supported the Emperor’s idea of dethroning her. Being good to them was either genuinely liking Wan Zi or compensating for them.
But now, what is the Empress Dowager saying?
Saying Wan Zi wouldn’t call someone else mother? Meaning, the Empress Dowager opposes deposing the Empress, or does she only acknowledge her as the Empress?
Is it so?
"It’s just as you think." The Empress Dowager stood up, looked at the unconscious little dog, "Rest assured, the Emperor’s illness will get better, he’s just been muddled before, he will come to his senses."
The Empress dared not say more, only bowed her head in respect.
The Empress Dowager waved a hand and, without saying more, left with her attendants.
Once the Empress Dowager’s figure had completely vanished, the Empress straightened up, sat with a complex expression for a long time in silence, then stood and walked over to the cushion to look at the still unconscious little dog, softly saying, "You must get better soon, then Wan Zi will be happy."
In the following three days, the Emperor’s mood grew increasingly complex.
He forced himself to swallow bitter medicine daily, listening to the motivating cheers of Princess. Sometimes when he whimpered in pain, Princess would anxiously cry beside him, and the Empress would softly comfort them both and cheer him on.
Three days later, the Emperor finally felt somewhat better, his whole body no longer in such pain.
The Empress sighed in relief, saying to the Princess, "Kai Xin has finally pulled through, after a few more days he will be completely well."
"Wow, that’s great!" Princess cheered happily, "Grand Empress Dowager really didn’t lie to me, saying Kai Xin would definitely recover!"
Watching Princess finally smile, the Empress also smiled.
Listening to Princess’s cheers, the Emperor first felt happy, then a wave of bitterness. All this was actually caused by him.
Originally, in places unseen by him, was the Princess and Empress really subjected to such unjust treatment? Was Imperial Concubine really so rampant beneath it all?
He didn’t dare imagine, what face Imperial Concubine would show if she truly became the Empress.
