Chapter 1183: Chapter 27: Best Friends Forever
On the way to the classroom, Han Ting suddenly said, "Mengfei came back the night before last. She gave me a cup."
"She only gave it to Han Ting, and was way too enthusiastic—she even poured water into it for Han Ting and told her to drink." Huang Shiyuan frowned.
"You didn’t drink it, did you?" Tianmiao asked.
"No. Even though it was just our dorm’s water, and the cup was new. I still didn’t drink it. I just feel like she’s really weird." Han Ting shook her head.
"What’s even weirder is she took photos, said it was ’for the memories.’" Huang Shiyuan yawned. "All mystical and creepy."
Tianmiao fell silent. Of course she knew exactly what Zhang Mengfei was doing it for, she just couldn’t expose it. Every world has its own track of operation; once you break it, everything falls apart.
"Anyway, let’s just avoid contact with her," Han Ting said.
"Right, you should avoid contact with her. From now on, come home with me on weekends. Don’t stay in the dorm, just stay away from her." Tianmiao suddenly said.
"Can we?" Han Ting and Huang Shiyuan exchanged a look. They’d never been to Tianmiao’s home. They were curious, but if Tianmiao found it inconvenient, they’d rather not.
"You can. But sometimes on weekends I’ll need to go see Jinglou, and then you’ll just stay in the house by yourselves. If you need anything, just ask the Housekeeper." Tianmiao said.
Han Ting and Huang Shiyuan hesitated for a moment, then said, "Forget it, that would trouble you too much. We’ll just go out and play on weekends. As long as we’re not in the dorm, we won’t run into Zhang Mengfei."
"It’s no trouble. After you finish the excavation work this weekend I’ll have my cousin come pick you up. Don’t go back to the dorm." Tianmiao made the final call. "It’s decided. Just do as I say."
Seeing Tianmiao’s firm attitude, Huang Shiyuan and Han Ting both nodded and agreed. After all, Zhang Mengfei’s behavior really was a bit strange; it made their skin crawl.
"Ah, I forgot my notebook. You two go ahead, I’ll be right there." Tianmiao suddenly stopped. "If I’m not there yet, ask for leave for me—say I’ve got a stomachache and will be a few minutes late."
Han Ting and Huang Shiyuan both twitched their lips. "You’re a goddess, you know. At least come up with a classy excuse. Using diarrhea as an excuse totally ruins your goddess image."
"Then make up whatever excuse you want. I’ll head back. I’ll try to hurry so I’m not late." Tianmiao turned and walked back.
Han Ting and Huang Shiyuan never even considered answering roll call for Tianmiao. With someone at campus-queen level like Tianmiao, the professors’ impression of her was way too deep—who could pretend to be her? They’d spot it in a second. Still, in the professors’ eyes Tianmiao was an ultra-well-behaved student: never late or leaving early, always doing the best job on assignments. If she was occasionally late or asked for leave, the professors wouldn’t say much.
...
At the dorm door, Zhang Mengfei quietly opened it. After closing the door, she carefully listened for footsteps outside. Once she was sure there was no one, she went over to Han Ting’s desk.
Looking at the skincare and makeup laid out on Han Ting’s desk, Zhang Mengfei’s eyes darkened. Those things had once been utterly out of her reach, but now she had them—though they were all bought for her by other people.
Zhang Mengfei took out a bottle of makeup remover, then sat down at Han Ting’s desk. She reached out and picked up Han Ting’s toner, unscrewed the cap, grabbed the makeup remover she’d brought, and was about to pour it in.
"Zhang Mengfei." A voice suddenly rang out in the dorm.
