Chapter 199: Beast Beast Alliance, Attack
Chapter 199: Chapter 199: Beast Beast Alliance, Attack
Before the crack of dawn, morning dew trickled down blades of grass in the mountain forest. Trees stretched their branches, and all of nature began to awaken from the night.
Inside the tree hollow, Lu Wu was still sleeping peacefully, hugging the three little ones.
Outside, little heads peeked in. The fluffy creatures tiptoed about, looking absolutely adorable.
"She’s still sleeping."
A vixen whispered, and the other animals around her hushed their voices, afraid to disturb Lu Wu’s peaceful sleep.
"I heard that in the human world, sleep is very important. All of you, be quieter."
A squirrel hugged its big tail, its eyes full of sympathy as it looked at Lu Wu.
Having slept through the night, the effect of the rabbit ears wore off, and their altered memories returned to normal. They now remembered that the person selling rabbit heads yesterday was a human.
But the squirrel wasn’t afraid anymore.
The squirrel didn’t feel deceived. On the contrary, it felt the human had gone to great lengths for its own good.
To put the squirrel at ease, the human had worn animal ears.
’A human like that is just too good.’
It was just that its deep-seated fear of humans kept the squirrel from getting too close to Lu Wu, but it no longer felt the urge to flee.
’It wouldn’t be a deserter.’
The many demon beasts around it shared the same thought.
’A human who can turn evil bunnies into delicious rabbit heads has to be a good person.’
"Will we be able to eat rabbit heads again today?"
The speaker was a golden snub-nosed monkey.
The human had lavished praise on her golden fur yesterday, so she had taken special care to groom it before coming out, making it look even glossier and smoother.
"Let’s go catch some bunnies."
A fox suggested.
It had noticed yesterday that the human made the rabbit heads from freshly caught rabbits right on the spot.
"As it happens, I found a few evil rabbits to the east. If we go together, we won’t have to be afraid of them."
The fox wiped a paw across the corner of its mouth, smearing the drool into its fur.
The thought of the rabbit heads’ flavor was irresistible; it had even dreamed of rabbits all night.
"Alright, I’m in."
"Count me in."
"Let’s go catch rabbits for Boss Lu."
More and more demon beasts chimed in.
Individually, they might not be a match for the evil bunnies, but as a group, they had enough power to wipe out the entire colony.
Beast Beast Alliance, move out!
A large pack of demon beasts departed in silence, leaving behind only a few small squirrels and the vixen.
When Lu Wu woke from her dreams with a yawn, she saw the fox sisters walking in, carrying morning dew on leaves. Their crimson fur glowed with the warmth of a flame.
Their slender, almond-shaped eyes were alluring and affectionate.
Lu Wu finished washing up with the fox sisters’ assistance.
’Looking at her fragrant palms, Lu Wu thought that you really couldn’t blame King Zhou for being infatuated with such beauty.’
’This Daji is simply too corrupting.’
Her breakfast consisted of Spirit Fruits the demon beasts had found for her. The fruits were crisp, bursting with juice, and rich in Spiritual Energy. Just one was enough to make her feel full.
Surrounded by an escort of foxes, Lu Wu stepped outside and saw squirrels peeking at her from the treetops.
Just as she was about to put on her rabbit ears to keep the little squirrel from falling, it suddenly leaped and pounced right at her.
"SQUEAK!"
’Human, the squirrel has come!’
’Was the squirrel’s fear of humans cured?’
Lu Wu, finding her arms full of fluffy creatures so early in the morning, was grinning from ear to ear.
And when she got to her stall, an even bigger surprise awaited her on the ground.
"Wow, you guys are amazing."
Countless bunnies were laid out flat. After receiving Lu Wu’s praise, the demon beasts that had returned from the hunt puffed out their chests, looking immensely proud and satisfied.
They cleaned the bloodstains from their fur, and only when they were certain they were spotless did they approach Lu Wu to be petted.
The Beast Beast Alliance’s first battle was a complete success.
Somewhere in the mountain forest, the few remaining evil bunnies hid in a cave, trembling.
They were the few who had escaped.
Even though they only knew how to fight under the influence of the Ghost Energy, their survival instinct triumphed over their battle lust in the face of the demon beasts’ ferocious counterattack.
’Can a bunny like me even survive?’
"Don’t worry, there’s plenty for everyone!"
With the ingredients delivered right to her, Lu Wu couldn’t refuse the enthusiastic demon beasts. She rolled up her sleeves and got to work.
Flashes of Magic glittered through the mountain forest.
The Glazed Fire danced gracefully beneath the pot.
The spices sizzled in the hot oil, and of course, the chili peppers so beloved by the beasties couldn’t miss out on the party.
As the aroma of the braising liquid began to waft through the air, more and more demon beasts emerged from the woods.
Their numbers had doubled.
Overnight, the news had brewed and spread, with the beasties carrying it to even more distant parts of the forest.
Surrounded by her kingdom of fluff, Lu Wu was overjoyed, with a furry friend to hug on her left and another on her right.
She banged on an iron basin.
"Line up, line up! It’s time to eat!"
The lid came off, revealing a large pot of glossy, crimson rabbit heads simmering in braising liquid. The fire beneath kept it at a gentle boil, the liquid bubbling as hot steam puffed against Lu Wu’s cheeks.
She flashed a brilliant smile as she served her beastie patrons.
"Two rabbit heads for you, right? You got it! Thanks for stopping by!"
The moment the first sale was complete, the system sent a joyful notification. A cool breeze swept by, Spiritual Power surged, and thanks to her tireless efforts, Lu Wu’s cultivation broke through to the Golden Core Middle Stage.
’Keep up the good work, System!’
"You want one to try? No problem."
"Patience, everyone!"
Under Huohuo’s direction, the beasties maintained an orderly line. Dahuang, meanwhile, was perched by the stall, making sure every single beastie paid up.
As for Mimi...
His job was to drive off any powerful, lurking demon beasts that got too close.
The Ten Thousand Mountains are a primitive place. Many areas are off-limits to humans and fraught with danger.
The commotion Lu Wu was causing had already attracted the attention of some powerful demon beasts. They would cast a glance over, only to be driven away by Mimi’s threats.
Even with no humans among her clientele, Lu Wu’s business ran in a perfectly orderly fashion.
Amid the bustling scene, the beastie patrons ate until their lips gleamed with oil. But back in the Divine Spear Sect, a fretful Elder Jiang found himself stuck.
He hadn’t raised a fuss after bringing the news back yesterday. Instead, he had gone to discuss it directly with the Sect Leader.
Unfortunately, the Sect wasn’t a place where one person’s word was law. An elder, fiercely loyal to the Sect, heard the news and refused to believe Elder Jiang.
"Those Elixir Pills were verified back then. There can’t be a problem. And I believe in my apprentice; he would never betray the sect."
The speaker was Elder Dan.
The person currently in charge of refining the Exorcism Pills was his apprentice.
"Old Jiang, how can you suspect the loyalty of me and my apprentice because of some outsider?"
Elder Dan’s brows shot up in anger. He looked as if he was about to engage Elder Jiang in a ’physical debate’.
"I didn’t say there was a problem with your apprentice."
Elder Jiang was exasperated.
This old coot had joined the Divine Spear Sect at the same time as him; he trusted his old comrade.
But it was also a fact that there was a problem within the Sect. If it wasn’t the Elixir Pills themselves, then it had to be the testing process.
Elder Jiang shot the Sect Leader a look.
’So much for investigating quietly. You really can’t keep a secret, can you?’
The Sect Leader awkwardly avoided his gaze.
After all, Elder Dan was his father-in-law. He couldn’t afford to offend him.
While Elder Jiang fended off Elder Dan’s accusations, his mind had already begun to wander.
The disciples had told him all about Boss Lu yesterday. And from what he saw in those videos, Boss Lu’s delicacies didn’t wait around for anyone.
’Sure, there are no people in the Ten Thousand Mountains, but there are beasts!’
’And Boss Lu’s rapport with beasts is unbelievable.’
He was burning with impatience.
KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK.
Someone was knocking on the door. It was the disciples from yesterday.
The argument came to a halt. The door opened, and the youngest disciple was pushed inside. Facing three pairs of eyes burning with furious anger, the disciple spoke in a voice as faint as a mosquito’s buzz.
"Elder Jiang, my senior brothers and sisters want to know when we’re leaving."
They missed Boss Lu.
