Chapter 151: Humble Dragon King, Seeking Love Online
Chapter 151: Chapter 151: Humble Dragon King, Seeking Love Online
"Is there anyone who doesn’t know what snail rice noodles are?"
Qin Zhan looked at the Dragon King as if he were some kind of novelty.
"’You don’t know what snail rice noodles are? You must be a new customer.’"
"’It’s this stuff right here.’"
Qin Zhan enthusiastically held his plate out to the Dragon King.
"’Don’t mind the strange smell. It’s incredibly delicious. When you buy it, you have to ask Boss Lu to add extra chili peppers for you. I guarantee it’s so good it’ll blow the top of your head off.’"
"..."
The Dragon King really wanted to ask, ’If the top of your head blows off, can you even survive?’
"’Thank you.’"
The Dragon King thanked him with a forced smile.
After finishing his sales pitch, Qin Zhan patted the Dragon King’s shoulder encouragingly and walked over to Long Zhang. Then, as the Dragon King’s eyes widened in fury, Qin Zhan plopped down, and the two of them squeezed onto a single stool.
Neither race nor family could stand in the way of their budding bromance.
Especially after Queen Zhang experienced the allure of human cuisine; she wished she could adopt Qin Zhan as her own son.
Seeing Qin Zhan arrive, she gave him a gentle smile.
"’Doesn’t putting super-hot yellow peppers and sky-facing bird’s eye chilis in the snail rice noodles make it even better?’"
Qin Zhan asked with a smile.
After summarizing all his experiences tasting Boss Lu’s food, he had finally determined the perfect chili ratio for the snail rice noodles.
Qin Zhan loved spicy food, and so did Queen Zhang. They hit it off immediately.
The secret chili recipe they developed made some of the diners who couldn’t handle spice—but couldn’t give up the noodles—so envious their eyes turned red.
"’Delicious.’"
Queen Zhang looked at Qin Zhan as if he were a junior, her eyes filled with a gentle, smiling warmth, without a trace of romantic interest.
But in the eyes of the Dragon King, who was consumed by suspicion, it was a completely different picture.
’That Human Clan youth, who’s even better-looking than me, is making eyes at my Queen.’
That tender affection drove the Dragon King mad with jealousy.
His twisted expression made passersby do a double-take.
"’Brother, did your wife run off with another man? What’s with the bad temper?’"
"’What if you scare Boss Lu?’"
"’But I don’t think a wife is all that important anyway. Eat a bowl of snail rice noodles, then have a small hamburger. The taste, tsk tsk tsk... I guarantee all your anger will disappear.’"
This diner was kindly trying to console the Dragon King, but only received a furious glare in return.
Even though this diner was average-looking, the Dragon King was deeply suspicious of him.
He was itching to draw his sword and fight right then and there.
But there were too many people here. If he made a move, he feared he would harm innocents, and the entire Sea Clan would be implicated as a result.
’Am I just supposed to let myself be cuckolded?’
The Dragon King, with a belly full of pent-up rage and nowhere to vent it, stared at the man with his dragon eyes for a long time before speaking in an aggrieved tone.
"’Are those snail rice noodles really that good?’"
’The human who cuckolded me recommended them, too,’ the Dragon King thought with deep skepticism.
"’Of course!’"
Seeing the Dragon King was tempted, the diner was suddenly energized. He grabbed the Dragon King’s arm and headed for Lu Wu’s stall.
"’Let me tell you, if your wife really did run off with someone else, you take a bowl of these noodles back to her, and I guarantee she’ll come right back. If that’s not enough, add one of the secret-recipe small hamburgers.’"
"’When these two are on the table, no one in the world can refuse.’"
When talking about the deliciousness of these two foods, the diner spoke with endless enthusiasm.
Every diner conquered by Boss Lu’s food would proactively promote it when they encountered a newcomer.
They just loved watching the expressions on those newcomers’ faces when they were forced to eat their words.
"’Really?’"
The Dragon King was tempted.
’If I bring her the snail rice noodles, will my Queen turn and look back at me?’
’Just one glance. If the Queen just looks at me one more time, it will prove she still loves me.’
"’One hundred percent,’" the diner promised, puffing out his chest.
As they spoke, they arrived at the stall. There were still a few people in line ahead of them, so they had to wait.
The diner decided to pass the time by telling the Dragon King stories about Boss Lu.
How she came all the way from a remote little town, had been to places crawling with poisonous creatures, braved a sea of fire, fought an Evil Cult, and pacified spirits.
He recounted tale after tale with breathless eloquence.
In the diner’s telling, Lu Wu was a great hero who saved all of humanity.
At first, the Dragon King paid no mind.
As the Dragon King, his own life was far from ordinary. But when he heard that this Boss Lu could achieve such things just by setting up a stall and selling food, he couldn’t help but be impressed.
’Perhaps food made by such a person really does have some kind of magic to it.’
"ACHOO! ACHOO!"
At the stall, the busy Lu Wu’s nose suddenly started to itch.
She turned her head and let out several sneezes before it stopped.
"’That’s strange,’" she muttered.
As a Cultivator, it was impossible for a common cold to affect her, yet she couldn’t stop sneezing.
’Is someone trying to curse me or something?’
Lu Wu dismissed the thought. ’I’m a good, law-abiding citizen!’
Though her mind was racing, Lu Wu’s hands didn’t slow down.
Delicious crab roe burgers were slowly cooking, their rich aroma swirling above the stall before being carried away by the wind.
"’Your crab roe burger is ready! Next!’"
Lu Wu didn’t even look up, just took out a new bun and continued grilling.
In the pot next to her, the rice noodles bobbed up and down in the boiling broth, translucent and gleaming.
The diners didn’t rush her, content to just watch Lu Wu handle one order after another.
Boss Lu’s food was delicious, and even the way she moved while preparing it was a pleasing sight.
One by one, the diners got their food and dispersed.
After a long wait, it was finally the Dragon King’s turn to order.
"’I’ll have a combo meal,’" the Dragon King said awkwardly, placing the Spirit Stones on the counter.
The enthusiastic man from earlier had urged him repeatedly to buy the combo, insisting he would regret it otherwise.
The Dragon King figured his Queen couldn’t possibly be into the "uncle" type, so he chose to trust the man’s advice.
"’Alrighty.’"
’A familiar scent of the sea.’
Lu Wu took a moment to glance at the Dragon King. The moment she saw his face, she knew he must be related to "Octopus Balls."
"’You want it spicy, right?’"
After serving the Sea Clan a few times, she’d discovered they could handle their spice extremely well.
Lu Wu had also been watching the recent spice-eating competition between the Sea Clan and the Human Clan diners.
She would never admit that she’d been fanning the flames a bit herself.
The sight of those diners, so spiced they were crying and wailing but still stubbornly insisting they were fine, was great entertainment while eating.
"’Mm,’" the Dragon King’s voice was sullen.
He stared at Lu Wu’s movements, trying to discern some kind of secret technique.
’If a bowl of noodles and a hamburger could really make the Queen change her mind, he would be willing to take this young boss as his master, just to have the Queen’s eternal love.’
That lovesick desperation was palpable even to Lu Wu.
But Lu Wu, being completely clueless about romance, couldn’t comprehend the profound look in the Dragon King’s eyes and just focused on making the food.
A moment later, the snail rice noodles and the hamburger were placed on a tray.
"’Enjoy your meal.’"
Holding the tray, the Dragon King could see Queen Zhang’s back from his position.
She was still eating, occasionally turning her head to share a smile with that pretty boy.
Their easy rapport made the Dragon King grind his teeth in frustration.
