Chapter 147: The Loss of Both Wife and Son
Chapter 147: Chapter 147: The Loss of Both Wife and Son
"Hey, how’s it going?"
Shan Hanzhi, who had just finished eating, grabbed the takeout for Dan Ji and greeted the Sea Clan. Then, rubbing his full stomach, he headed toward Yuanhai City.
Long Zhang looked at Qin Zhan and the others, then at the officials from Yuanhai City in the crowd—the very same people who had been arguing so eloquently over trivial gains at the negotiation table just yesterday. His eyes were wide with confusion.
’Weren’t we supposed to continue negotiations today? Why have the leaders from both sides shown up at Boss Lu’s place?’
’So are we going to negotiate or not?’
"Don’t worry. Just eat. You need strength to argue, and you’ll have it after a good meal."
Qin Zhan explained to the members of the Sea Clan.
Opportunities for negotiation were plentiful, but Boss Lu’s delicacies weren’t available on demand.
The food came first.
"Little brother, you’re the smart one."
Long Zhang felt a spiritual resonance with the people of Yuanhai City.
The little octopus had an epiphany.
’As expected, the Sea Clan can’t just keep to themselves. We need to interact more with the outside world. The mental state of these humans is far more advanced than ours.’
So, Long Zhang took out his One World Communication and started filming Lu Wu’s stall and the customers enjoying her food, adding his own commentary.
"Mother, doesn’t this snail rice noodle soup look delicious? The chili in it is incredible! One bite and it clears you right up. But it does smell a bit stinky, kind of like the garbage rotting in the sea trenches."
"And this crabby patty is so good! It’s fragrant, crispy, and soft all at once. The meat patty inside is so thick it’s dripping with juice. The Crab Maid even wanted to make a deal with Boss Lu, to trade her children and grandchildren for a few more crabby patties, but Boss Lu refused."
There was a hint of disappointment in Long Zhang’s voice.
"Don’t worry, Mother. Your son is doing very well on land. I even made a sworn brother named Qin Zhan. He’s a disciple of the Holy Sword Sect and he’s amazing. He’s taught me so much."
"Oh, and also..."
Long Zhang rambled on in the video, describing everything he had seen and heard on land.
This was his first time on land.
Previously, he had only heard about it from some of the Sea Clan elders. They said humans were treacherous and cunning, and that in their eyes, the Sea Clan was just food.
Long Zhang used to believe them. When he first came ashore, he was terrified that humans would chop off his tentacles and turn them into barbecue.
But now he knew the Sea Clan had nothing to worry about, because the food on land was much tastier than the Sea Clan.
"Mother, your son doesn’t want to go back just yet. Could you please put in a good word for me with Father?"
Compared to his strict father, Long Zhang much preferred his doting mother. With her pleading his case, he could stay on land a while longer.
The video ended with Qin Zhan throwing an arm around Long Zhang’s neck, saying he was going to take him somewhere fun to broaden his horizons.
As Qin Zhan said this, a wicked grin spread across his face.
Lu Wu saw it all and felt that a blank slate like Long Zhang was about to be corrupted by a fox like Qin Zhan.
The "fun place" Qin Zhan mentioned was, in fact, a brothel run by the Hehuan Sect. The women there were truly beauties beyond compare.
Long Zhang had never experienced anything like it. Dazed, he was surrounded by Female Cultivators calling him "good brother" this and "dear brother" that.
If Qin Zhan hadn’t stopped him, he would have emptied his pockets and given all his treasures to these women.
Lost in the temptation of these demons, the Little Prince Long Zhang missed the message from Queen Zhang.
There was also a network connection at the bottom of the Yuanhai.
Queen Zhang stared at the unresponsive One World Communication, her heart filled with anxiety.
She had seen Long Zhang’s video, but in her eyes, humans couldn’t possibly be so kind. Her son had been bewitched.
’After all, how could something that smells like garbage from a sea trench possibly be delicious?’
’And that human named Qin Zhan—he looks like a bad guy at a glance.’
’My good boy just hasn’t seen the true, despicable nature of humans, which is why he was so easily lured away.’
The thought of her son being tricked by humans and ending up as barbecue on a grill made Queen Zhang lose her appetite and her sleep.
She never should have softened and let Long Zhang go ashore just because he acted cute.
’No.’
’I have to go up there and rescue my son from that den of devils.’
A woman of action, Queen Zhang immediately summoned her other son and daughter, preparing to storm Yuanhai City.
With her mind completely focused on Long Zhang, Queen Zhang left in such a hurry that she forgot to inform the Dragon King. When the Dragon King returned, he found the royal chambers empty.
His son and daughter were gone. Even his wife was gone.
The Dragon King was at a complete loss, floating in the water.
He was already getting on in years. Was he going to end up a lonely old dragon?
...
Back on shore, Lu Wu, still oblivious to Queen Zhang’s impending, wrathful arrival, was busy serving her customers.
Thanks to Lou Xiaotian’s promotion, and after a day of buzz, customers who had been keeping an eye on Lu Wu swarmed her stall.
It was the third day of Lu Wu’s stall, and the entire beach was completely mobbed.
So Lu Wu imposed a limit again: only one combo meal per person. As expected, this was met with another round of wails and moans.
Even so, Lu Wu’s mission was quickly completed.
Freed from the constraints of her mission, Lu Wu began selling with wild abandon.
A power struggle had formed between the customers and Lu Wu. The customers loudly proclaimed that her snail rice noodles weren’t spicy enough. Lu Wu, "taking them at their word," found a variety of insanely hot peppers from the Green Origin Realm, dried them, ground them into a powder, and added it to the noodles.
"Is that enough?"
Lu Wu asked the customer before her. Bright red chili flakes floated in the bowl of snail rice noodles—so much that just looking at it was enough to make one’s vision go dark.
’It’s enough. It’s really enough.’
The customer desperately wanted to say those words, but with dozens of eyes fixed on him from behind, he had his pride to consider. He didn’t want to admit he couldn’t handle it.
"Hey, why the hesitation? Weren’t you bragging to me yesterday that you eat chili peppers for dinner?"
Another customer, enjoying the show, came over, slung an arm around his shoulder, and teased him.
"Boss Lu, give him some more! He loves it."
As he spoke, the customer patted his own sloshing stomach. He wasn’t full from food; he was full from all the water he had chugged after being overwhelmed by the spice.
Goaded by this, the customer buying the noodles couldn’t stand the provocation. Gritting his teeth, he said to Lu Wu, "Not enough! Add more!"
Hearing this, Lu Wu felt a surge of heroic spirit.
’A true warrior.’
And when faced with a warrior, Lu Wu naturally had to show her sincerity.
So she opened another jar, this one containing a yellow chili powder.
It was a variety called Explosive Yellow Pepper, and its potency was second to none among the many peppers Lu Wu had collected.
Lu Wu scooped up a spoonful and, under the customer’s hesitant gaze, sprinkled it over the top of the snail rice noodles.
"Here you go. If you still don’t think it’s spicy enough, you can always come back for more. I have other kinds of peppers, too."
When it came to serving her customers, Lu Wu was serious.
"Okay."
The customer’s voice was already on the verge of tears.
’Heaven and Earth be my witness,’ he thought, ’this spoonful of chili is a lethal dose.’
Yesterday, the Bun Sect had started an internal spice-eating competition. The final winner would receive a surprise, and according to inside sources, the prize was related to Boss Lu.
How could he fall at the very first hurdle of the competition?
Sitting upright in his chair, the customer stared at the snail rice noodles before him and, with the determination of a man facing death, raised his chopsticks.
’Eat. I have to eat.’
