Chapter 101: One Word From Me and the Diners Start a Brawl
Chapter 101: Chapter 101: One Word From Me and the Diners Start a Brawl
People’s tastes can change, and Mumu and Tian Tian were living proof.
In front of Lu Wu, they put on a show of falling in love with three different flavors in under a minute, swearing each was the new love of their lives.
Of course, Lu Wu didn’t believe their vows for a second.
After all, the two of them were already sneakily asking if she had any new soup base flavors in the works.
Always wanting what’s next while enjoying what’s in front of them—these two had it all figured out.
"By the way, Boss Lu, this casino..."
Tian Tian said with some hesitation after swallowing a mouthful from her skewer.
’Should I tell Boss Lu that this casino is trouble?’ she wondered. ’It’s dangerous to set up a stall here.’
"Hm?"
Lu Wu managed to look up from her work.
The soup base was steaming hot. The rising vapor formed a curling white mist, obscuring Lu Wu’s vision.
She had to squint to see Tian Tian clearly.
Her clear, almond-shaped eyes now held a hint of confusion.
"What is it?"
she asked.
’This casino is great,’ she thought. ’It helped me complete my mission, after all.’
"It’s... it’s nothing."
"I just wanted to say, Boss Lu, your skewers are absolutely delicious."
Looking through the steam and meeting Lu Wu’s incredibly intense gaze, Tian Tian shook her head and smiled, suddenly relieved.
Seeing Boss Lu’s nonchalant attitude, Tian Tian knew she had the whole situation with the casino under control. Just as she’d expected, the people on One World Communication were right.
Wherever Boss Lu sets up her stall, something big is bound to happen.
And more often than not, Boss Lu plays a crucial role in it.
’Someone that powerful doesn’t need a reminder from me.’
"If it’s good, then have some more,"
Lu Wu said with a knowing nod.
The Ruyi hairpin was still tucked into her hair bun, and it was this single pin that concealed her entire aura, making it impossible for anyone to probe Lu Wu’s power.
In the eyes of other Cultivators, this simply meant that Lu Wu was unfathomably powerful and not to be provoked.
That was why Tian Tian had set aside her worries.
More people meant more work, but it also meant the skewers sold out quickly.
In just an hour and a half, she was completely sold out of skewers.
Having made a hefty profit, Lu Wu ignored the customers’ pleas for her to stay and began meticulously cleaning up her stall.
When you made good food, it wasn’t enough for it to be delicious; hygiene also had to be up to par.
What?
Work overtime?
Working overtime was out of the question.
"Boss Lu, are you selling this leftover soup base?"
One customer, seeing that he couldn’t convince Lu Wu to stay, decided to try a different approach.
The biggest factor in the skewers’ deliciousness was the soup base. If he could just get his hands on that, he could buy his own ingredients and cook them at home.
Then he could eat until he was stuffed—no problem.
"Yeah, I want to buy some soup base too!"
Inspired by this genius idea, others immediately jumped on the bandwagon and started shouting as well.
One person, afraid Lu Wu would bolt, even slammed a hand down on the stall, physically stopping her from putting it away into her storage bag.
She looked at the "ferocious" customers surrounding her and felt so very small and helpless.
Faced with such overbearing love from her customers, Lu Wu could only give in.
"Ahem, the soup base is not for sale."
The moment she said that, some of the more attractive customers started batting their big, dewy eyes at her.
"Boss Lu~~~"
Their voices were drawn out in a coquettish lilt.
Some of the female customers even put on a tearful, pitiful display, looking as delicate as a pear blossom in the spring rain.
It was a truly heart-wrenching sight.
Lu Wu sneered inwardly.
’Heh. As if I, an overpowered transmigrator, could be swayed by mere beauty?’
’What a joke.’
’Of course I’d be swayed.’
Lu Wu struggled to tear her eyes away from the feast of beauty before her. "Alright, I’ll give the soup base away for free," she announced. "But there’s a limited amount, so we’ll draw lots to decide who gets it."
’They’re all customers, so I can’t play favorites,’ she reasoned. ’This way, no one can say I’m being unfair, right?’
Naturally, Lu Wu herself would be hosting the drawing.
The method was simple. She first estimated how many portions of soup base she had left, then grabbed a handful of small pebbles.
"In a moment, I’ll close my eyes and toss these out. Each pebble represents one portion. Whoever gets a pebble can come to me to collect their soup base."
Lu Wu, feeling her rules were perfectly fair and depended entirely on the customers’ luck, completely failed to notice that the very same customers who had just been united in their attempt to sweet-talk her were now eyeing their neighbors with vigilant, ferocious glares.
"This was my idea, so I should get one portion,"
the first customer argued, trying to gain an early advantage. In response, everyone around him simply played dumb.
This was no time for friendship or favors.
Was camaraderie more important than Boss Lu’s soup base?
"Everyone, get ready!"
Unaware of her customers’ little schemes, Lu Wu shouted once and raised her hand.
She had infused the pebbles with a trace of Glazed Fire’s aura, making it impossible for anyone to pass off a fake.
Besides, she trusted that her customers were all well-behaved, law-abiding folks who would never dream of cheating her.
With that thought, she swung her arm. The pebbles flew from her palm, tracing a graceful arc through the air.
Before the pebbles could even hit the ground—WHOOSH! WHOOSH! WHOOSH!
The sound of bodies cutting through the air exploded above the street as countless blurry figures crisscrossed in mid-air.
"I got one!"
a young man cried out in delight. The next second, a heavy boot connected with his rear end, sending him sprawling face-first into the dirt as the pebble was snatched from his hand.
The one who’d grabbed it was a Female Cultivator with a gentle, delicate face, which was now twisted into a ferocious snarl.
"It’s mine,"
she thought, just as she heard a cry of "Oof!" beside her.
Her best friend had been knocked back. Seeing her about to slam into a wall, she quickly caught her.
"Are you okay?"
she asked with concern, only to see the woman in her arms shake her head, her eyes misty with tears.
"I’m fine."
The words had barely left her lips when the corners of her friend’s mouth curled into an irrepressible grin. "You’re the one who’s not fine."
"Ehehe, I got it."
It turned out she had snatched the pebble from her companion’s hand while she was distracted. She stuck out her tongue and hastily dodged her furious friend’s attack.
And this very scene was playing out all over the sky above the street.
Backstabbing, seduction, deception, sneak attacks...
Sisters turned on each other, brothers fought amongst themselves, masters and disciples became mortal enemies, grandfathers and grandsons came to blows...
Everyone pulled out all the stops, and all for a single, tiny pebble.
The sky was a whirlwind of chaos as a massive brawl broke out. It was a truly spectacular sight.
People were knocked out of the sky one after another, falling like dumplings into a pot.
There were only a dozen or so pebbles in total, yet over a hundred people were fighting for them. Only a few, who knew they were too weak to compete, could do nothing but stare and mutter under their breath.
If you listened closely...
"Yeah, get him! Serves him right for trying to steal my soup base!"
"I’m drawing a circle to curse you! You won’t get one, you won’t get one! Keh keh keh..."
"Go for the groin! Kick her where it hurts! If I can’t get one, none of you can either!"
It was utter pandemonium.
Although the scene looked utterly chaotic, it all happened in the blink of an eye.
The moment Lu Wu opened her eyes, the demonic mob instantly returned to normal.
The customers who had secured a pebble turned to Lu Wu with bashful smiles.
"Boss Lu, I’m here to collect my soup base."
?
A question mark practically materialized over Lu Wu’s head.
She had a genuine question: How did her customers get so bruised and swollen in the blink of an eye that they looked like a cast of Piggy Hero?
"Are... are you okay?"
Lu Wu asked, staring at a Female Cultivator who was limping toward her with a black eye and blood trickling from the corner of her mouth.
’Her face was as pretty as a flower, and now it’s practically disfigured. Whoever hit her was absolutely ruthless,’ she thought.
"I’m vine..."
The Female Cultivator grinned, revealing a missing front tooth that gave her a noticeable lisp.
’My friend really went for the kill,’ she thought. ’But I got a portion, so it was all worth it.’
