Chapter 1434: Chapter 1398: Home of the Cannon Fodder 6
Anning first went to the market to buy some fresh vegetables and meat, then rode her electric scooter to Mrs. Qin and Mr. Qin’s house.
She put away the vegetables and meat she bought and started tidying up the house.
Previously, the house was often cleaned by Anning, but recently she has been upset about her divorce with Zhao Dahai, so she hasn’t come to clean. Now, although the house isn’t very dirty, it has accumulated a layer of dust.
Anning rolled up her sleeves and began cleaning the furniture, then took out the vacuum cleaner to clean the floor.
After working for almost the entire morning, she made sure that the inside and outside of the house were spotlessly clean. She also put the duvet covers and sheets into the washing machine, sun-dried the quilts, and changed the duvet covers.
Looking at the clean and tidy house, Anning felt quite happy.
She looked left and right, feeling as if something was missing, so she rode out again to a flower shop and bought some fresh flowers back.
There were a few unused glass vases at home.
Anning bought the flowers and began trimming and arranging them.
With fresh flowers placed around, the whole house not only seemed brighter but also had a faint floral scent, lifting Anning’s spirits.
She decided to take some fresh flowers home later to decorate her life.
Having tidied up everything that could be tidied up, Anning started cooking.
When Mrs. Qin and Mr. Qin came back, as soon as they opened the door, they could smell the aroma of stir-fried dishes.
Mrs. Qin called out, "Ningning."
With an apron on and a spatula in hand, Anning emerged from the kitchen, "Dad, Mom."
"Wow, you’ve lost so much weight, haven’t you?"
In the minds of all parents, they always feel their children are too thin, Mrs. Qin exclaimed as soon as she saw Anning, "Haven’t you been eating properly?"
Anning smiled and went to the kitchen to plate up the dishes and bring them out, "I wasn’t eating properly a few days ago, but my diet has normalized these past few days. You see me as thin because I’ve been on a diet recently."
"Dieting for what, you’re not fat at all."
Mr. Qin put away their luggage, came out, and said.
Anning smiled, "Wash your hands, let’s eat quickly. After eating, I have to go back to prepare dinner for those two little ones."
"Okay."
Mrs. Qin and Mr. Qin washed their hands and sat down, "Why don’t you bring the kids over later, they can stay overnight here."
Anning shook her head, "Better not, it’s far from the school here; they’d have to get up quite early tomorrow morning."
Mrs. Qin sighed, "That’s true, alright then, tomorrow your dad and I will go see the kids."
Anning served dishes to the elderly couple, "Let’s eat first, I have something to talk to you about after dinner."
"What is it?"
Mrs. Qin asked.
Anning shook her head, "Let’s eat first."
With something on their minds, Mr. and Mrs. Qin ate rather quickly.
After finishing the meal, they put down their bowls and asked again, "What’s the matter?"
Anning sat properly, "I want to remarry."
"What?"
Mr. and Mrs. Qin were both startled.
Mrs. Qin got up to feel Anning’s forehead, "You don’t have a fever, so why are you talking nonsense?"
Mr. Qin asked Anning with a serious face, "What’s going on? Didn’t you just get divorced, and now you’re talking about marriage again? Did Zhao Dahai regret the divorce, or, or did you have an affair before?"
Mrs. Qin glared at Mr. Qin.
Anning looked at Mr. Qin, "Dad, don’t you know what kind of person your daughter is? How could I have an affair? It’s just that, the day before yesterday, I met someone who lives in the same neighborhood as me. Actually, we knew each other before, but not very well. But the day before yesterday, I bumped into him, and we talked for a while. I felt he’s quite a good person, and I do like him. His wife passed away several years ago, and I’ve just divorced, both of us are single. We discussed it and thought it might be better to be together, at least we’d have someone to take care of us."
Mr. Qin glared at Anning, "You’ve only known each other for two days and you’re talking about marriage? Are you out of your mind? You dated Zhao Dahai for two years and he still cheated on you. This... this person you’ve just met..."
"Dad."
Anning disagreed, "People are different from each other. Xiao Yuan is not like Zhao Dahai. Zhao Dahai is heartless, but Xiao Yuan is not. He’s very good. Back in the day, when his wife was bedridden, he took care of her and never once disliked her. He spent all the family’s money on his wife’s treatment, even went into debt for it..."
"In debt?"
Mrs. Qin and Mr. Qin’s concerns were always different, "Is he still in debt now? Is he planning to marry you to have you help pay his debts? I’m telling you, that’s not going to happen."
Anning hurriedly waved her hand, "He paid it off long ago. He settled the debt last year."
Only then did Mrs. Qin let out a sigh of relief.
Mr. Qin still said, "It’s only his words you’re hearing; we don’t really know the situation, we need to really look into it."
"Look into what? I’ve decided on him. If you don’t want me to spend the rest of my life alone, then don’t stop me."
Anning threw a small tantrum.
Mrs. Qin sighed, "How is he really, do you have a picture? Let me see."
Anning took out her phone, found a photo she took of Xiao Yuan, and showed it to Mrs. Qin.
Mrs. Qin took one look and understood why her daughter wouldn’t marry anyone else.
This man really was very good-looking.
As far as Mrs. Qin’s long life went, she had never seen such a handsome man.
"With a face like that, he’s bound to have no shortage of troubles in the future."
Mrs. Qin became even more worried.
She looked at her daughter, even with the beautifying filter of a mother’s love, she felt her girl didn’t quite match up to the man.
Mr. Qin also took a look, "He’s younger than you, right? This one looks about thirty?"
Xiao Yuan had a face that was very deceptive; he had the look of an ageless God, and even in his forties, he looked as though he were only in his twenties or thirties.
He was tall and slender, a natural hanger for clothes, looking better in clothes than a model would. His skin was good, at over forty, he had clear, clean, and smooth skin, and his eyes always carried an indescribable charm. The whole person had an ethereal grace. Such a person could outshine almost any star in the entertainment industry, and even in a crowd, he was always the most striking presence.
"He’s older than me."
Anning huffed a little, "You see, he’s really a good person."
Mr. Qin exchanged a look with Mrs. Qin, both thinking, their daughter’s definition of ’really a good person’ was probably referring to how he truly looked good.
Yes, this man was indeed nearly flawless in appearance.
But, this doesn’t mean they should rush into marriage without knowing anything else.
Besides, Mr. and Mrs. Qin couldn’t believe such a man would genuinely fall for their daughter.
With a face like that, if he wanted to deceive people, there would be plenty of wealthy women eager to fall for him, not to mention countless young girls wanting to marry him. What did their daughter have? Not much money, getting on in years, not particularly good looking, and with two kids, really...
But if they thought about the possibility of this man deceiving their daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Qin couldn’t figure out what there was to cheat out of her.
Swindling money?
If this man wanted to, he would have people lining up to give him money.
Swindling beauty?
Their daughter trying to cheat someone else’s good looks seemed more likely.
Mr. Qin suddenly felt quite powerless.
Mrs. Qin slapped Anning, "What do you think he’s after with you?"
Anning smiled, "He likes that I’m steady and capable, that I’m educated, that I can help tutor his daughter, and that I like him."
Mrs. Qin shook her head, "Forget it, I can’t control you either. Do what you want, but let’s make sure you thoroughly explain things to the kids first."
