The Chronicles of the Immortal God

Chapter 443: Scum and Scam

Chapter 443: Scum and Scam

Before Fang Lin arrived at the bridge, he already expected that there would be a military encampment near the bridge’s entrance.

After all, that bridge was a connection between two continents. Having military guarding there will be the best for the safety of the humans.

Fang Lin knew that with that military guarding the place, it will be harder for him to cross the bridge.

But that fact did not discourage Fang Lin. Instead, it actually made him more pumped up.

After all, why would Fang Lin need to get pass through the soldiers when he can just be a soldier himself?

Earlier, the Crown Prince told Fang Lin many things about the military of the Alliance Continent.

Each Kingdom has their own military, and each of them guard their own bridge.

The Fallen Heart Kingdom Military was assigned for the Middle Bridge, while the Golden River Kingdom Military guards the Northern Bridge.

And the Southern Bridge, its was the military of the Dragon Emperor Kingdom that was guarding it.

Aside from guarding the bridge from possible invaders, the military also sends out squads of soldiers towards the Evil Axis Continent, in hopes of tempering them.

Because of the intense internal war between the 3 Demonic Kingdoms in the Evil Axis Continent, they could not spare any of their manpower to guard the bridge that connects the two continents.

This allows the soldiers of the Alliance Continent to come in, though they cannot go in that far.

Even if the security of the Evil Axis Continent at the bridge was lax, their security was intense the nearer it becomes to the Demonic Kingdoms.

Since there is no way for the Alliance Continent Military to fully invade, the soldiers just settle on the outer perimeter of the Evil Axis Continent.

Aside from that, there are also merchant carriages that exchange products between the 2 continents.

Having soldiers guard the merchant carriages that enter the Evil Axis Continent is a must.

When Fang Lin heard these from the Crown Prince, he immediately concocted a plan.

And the plan is that Fang Lin will become a soldier here first, and then he will use that status so that he can enter the Evil Axis Continent freely.

For Fang Lin, entering the Evil Axis Continent without any hassles will be better than him making a ruckus later.

Well, that was what Fang Lin was planning, until he saw what was happening near the bridge.

Fang Lin saw that almost everyone in the military encampment were awake, and they all held weapons in their hands.

Their alert faces and tight expressions showed to Fang Lin that they are into something serious right now.

“Oi, oi, oi...” What the hell is happening here?” Fang Lin muttered as she scratched his head.

Suddenly, he heard the sound of hooves and wheels striking the ground in front of him.

When Fang Lin tried to take a closer look, he realized that it was a carriage that was making the sounds.

From the way the carriage moved, it seems to have just left the military encampment and is about to go back to the mainland part of the Alliance Continent.

When Fang Lin saw this carriage, he wore a dazzling smile on his face as he started to slowly approach the carriage.

The carriage visibly slowed down as Fang Lin got nearer to the carriage.

Fang Lin took this as his chance to speak as he said,

“Hello there, I was just planning to enlist to the military right now, but then I saw that the soldiers seem to be extremely agitated. Is it ok for me to ask why this is happening?”

“Hmph, are you a commoner?” A haughty voice sounded out inside the carriage, which made Fang Lin groan inwardly.

“Yes, you can say that I am like that.” Fang Lin said as he tried to look as polite as possible. “Is it perhaps wrong for me to be here?”

“Hmph, just the way you talk to a Royalty like me already warrants a harsh punishment!” This time, Fang Lin was sure that the one talking from inside the carriage was a girl. “You better scram out of our way right now, or else I will have my attendant beat you up!”

“Oh I see... I apologize, Your Highness..” Fang Lin said as he moved out of the way.

The carriage driver, who looked like a dignified old man, gave Fang Lin an apologetic look as if he was saying,

“Sorry for the trouble lad.”

Fang Lin just gave the old man an understanding nod in reply as the carriage started to move again.

“Hmph, if I am not trying to be stealthy here, I would have already started spanking the hell out of that bratty noble inside the carriage!” That was Fang Lin’s thoughts as he sourly watched the carriage getting away.

“Sigh, seems like I can only go to the encampment itself to ask the questions...” But before he could move forward, Fang Lin saw a soldier riding a horse that was quickly approaching him.

No, not Wang Hao, but the carriage that passed by him earlier.

With the horse’s speed, the soldier was able to reach the carriage quickly.

The carriage once more paused at they saw the incoming soldier.

Once the soldier was beside the carriage, he assumed a pose that could be a military pose as he said,

“Princess Elissa, the Great General has decided to not allow you to go back to the capital of the Dragon Emperor Kingdom today. It is too dangerous for you to come back, especially with the Hero of the Fallen Heart Kingdom killing both the royalty of the Fallen Heart Kingdom and the Golden River Kingdom. The Great General said that it will be safer to stay here, instead of you going to the capital.”

Even though the soldier said these words with clarity, it was plainly obvious that he was not that courteous to the princess.

These words by the soldier were met with a painful silence.

It took a few more seconds before the voice of Princess Elissa could be heard from the carriage.

“Solider, when did the Great General receive the news about the deaths of the Royalty of the Fallen Heart Kingdom and the Golden River Kingdom?”

“Right when your entourage left, Your Highness.” The soldier said as he gave a knowing nod to the carriage driver. “Also, the Great General explicitly said to me that if you, Your Highness, will not come back, he will personally take action to force you to stay.”

“Hmph! Big Brother is always like that!” Princess Elissa said as the carriage began to shake from the inside. “But since the Royalty of the other 2 Kingdoms had been killed, it might be me, a Royalty of the Dragon Emperor Kingdom that could be attacked next... Hmph, I have no choice then but to stay!”

After Princess Elissa said these words, the carriage turned around as this time, with its direction was towards the military encampment again.

“Oh, so that is why the soldiers are like that earlier...” Fang Lin muttered.

It seems like the news of what happened with 2 Royal Families have now spread towards the whole Alliance Continent.

A summoned Hero killing the Royalty was surely enough to induce panic among the military. For them to only look agitated was actually already impressive for Fang Lin.

Another hmph from Princess Elissa inside the carriage could be heard as the carriage passed by Fang Lin again.

“From what I heard earlier, the girl inside the carriage is named Princess Elissa, and she is a Princess of the Dragon Emperor Kingdom... Not only that, but it seems like the Great General of this military encampment is a Prince of the Dragon Emperor Kingdom... Well, for a Royalty to be in military was already not surprising...”

While Fang Lin was deep in these thoughts, the soldier who sent the message to Princess Elissa saw the lone Fang Lin standing alongside the road.

The soldier then decided to approach Fang Lin in order to gain his attention.

“Hey there young lad, what brings you here?” The soldier asked as he saw the whole appearance of Fang Lin. “A fair-skinned lad like you should not be staying near places like this!”

Unlike Fang Lin who looked like a model, the soldier that was talking to him was a middle-aged man with a face full of scars.

His body lean, but one can see that it was perfectly tone with tight muscles.

Fang Lin was not sure why, but he immediately felt a sense of camaraderie after seeing this soldier’s face.

“Oh, I was just trying to enlist now as a soldier.” Fang Lin said as he scratched his head. “But now that I see it, it seems like something big and bad is happening right there...”

The soldier then proceeded to laugh as he clasped Fang Lin’s shoulders.

“Oh, do not worry about that, its something that people like us can just ignore.” The soldier then gave Fang Lin a smile as he said,

“So you want to enlist as a soldier? Hahahaha! You are lucky that you met me! Since you look strong and I like your attitude, I can allow you to be a soldier under my regiment!”

“Wait, like right now?” Fang Lin quickly replied as he gave the soldier a look of confusion. “Don’t I need to do things like tests or mock battles before I can be accepted?”

“That’s the case in a normal situation.” The soldier said as he continued on clasping his shoulders. “But I can sense a great talent from you, so there is no need for you to undergo those pesky processes! So, do you want to be a soldier under my regiment then?”

Fang Lin can sense that there is something fishy with the soldier’s offer. But since he can become a soldier without catching much attention, Fang Lin decided to agree.

“Hahaha! Great decision!” The soldier said as he proceeded to drag Fang Lin with him. “Since you are a soldier under my regiment, then it is only proper that you meet them now!”

“Ok...”

Minutes later, and Fang Lin arrived at the regiment that he had joined.

Fang Lin was slightly excited, as he envisioned seeing some hot-blooded men letting out fearsome auras.

But when Fang Lin saw the regiment that he joined, the only thing that popped on his mind was,

“F**k, I have been scammed!”
