The Chronicles of the Immortal God

Chapter 190: Return

Chapter 190: Return

Before Fang Anwei could make any actions though, she saw Wang Hao’s expression turning serious. Wang Hao’s expression was focused as he clasped the treasure on his palm. He gave everyone an urging look as he beckoned them to go nearer to him. She swallowed, realizing what his gestures meant.

They were about to leave the Dreamworld already.

Fang Anwei felt sad of course, now that she was about to leave her home. But deep in her heart, she knew that she was not meant to live on this place. Her place was among the planets and the vast, empty space of the Material Universe.

No matter what adaptation her body has, her true nature was still fated to be on the Material Universe.

She will miss everything in the Dreamworld that she had been fond of. She will always remember the non-ending changes of her environment, especially the assorted creatures appearing in in the Dreamworld.

Some of them might look cute, but most of the times they look hideous. Fang Anwei felt nostalgic upon remembering that she used to almost cry when she saw these scary creatures when she was young. Only her foster father can lift her spirits up at that moment.

“Father...” Regarding her foster father, Fang Anwei had complicated feelings for him. Even though he betrayed Fang Anwei in the end, Fang Anwei was sure that the love and care that her foster father gave to her before he sealed her were all genuine.

Fang Anwei does not know whether she should be angry at her foster father or not.

But even though she was confused about her foster father, there was one thing that she clearly will do. She will look for her foster father, and she will ask for the truth directly from him. As for how long that will take, Fang Anwei does not know.

But even though it will be hard, Fang Anwei will still do her best to ask him one question.

“Why?” This three-lettered word sums up Fang Anwei’s guilt, anger and indignation on her foster father.

Fang Anwei decided to accept whatever reason her foster father had that prompted him to seal and leave her. As for forgiveness... Fang Anwei still had no idea if she can do that.

“Wait for me father. Wherever you are, I will find you and talk to you!” Fang Anwei swore in her heart as she approached Wang Hao.

Once everyone was near him, Wang Hao used this chance to tell everyone what he was thinking about.

He told them that he needed their energy to power-up the working mechanisms of the portal. Without their help, the portal will be impossible to activate.

Everyone had no doubts on Wang Hao’s claim, since they knew how difficult it will be to even breach the area between the Underworld and the Dreamworld. As for how much energy was needed, they will still discuss about it.

“So how much do you need?” Huo Huangdi asked.

“I actually do not know. Just keep on pouring all the energy you can to activate it.” Wang Hao then continued talking when he saw the worried expression on their faces. “Do no be afraid though. This will be top secret, and nobody else will know about it. Also, the treasure reminded me that the energy we will provide was more than enough to power up the transportation mechanism.”

Everyone sighed in relief after hearing his assurances. After all, nobody wanted their energy to be stolen for nothing, especially if your energy will be drained until your body have no energy left. Losing all the energy in your body means almost death for that unlucky person. That was the reason why everyone went apprehensive when Wang Hao asked for their energy.

After all, who knows if Wang Hao was just plotting against them.

Good thing Wang Hao decided to make a soul oath to prove his innocence.

“Ok, time to go now!”

The rings floated in front of Wang Hao, as if it was saying that it must be injected with more energy now.

Wang Hao and his companions saw it, and they started filling up the rings with their energy. They first touched the rings before depositing the said energy. Wang Hao was no exception, as he grasped the rings way earlier than the others.

They used either qi or mana from their bodies to enter the rings. The ring was like a bottomless pit, swallowing all the energy that it had been fed. This may seem suspicious if it was a normal treasure, but Fang Anwei just thought that this disappearing energy was just assimilated into the rings.

There is no way that Wang Hao was conning them now right?

Fang Anwei’s thoughts halted as she remembered what Wang Hao told her about his bloodline. From what she can remember, Wang Hao’s bloodline can grant him the ability to manipulate and absorb energy. Him using his bloodline at situations like this will just make him gain more power.

After all, he can just absorb some of the given energy to him, and that will strengthen his power. Coupled with the fact that this energy will come from powerful beings, Wang Hao was bound to get stronger and faster than her.

“.....” Fang Anwei stared at the disappearing energy, as she gave Wang Hao a glare. She gave him a look of warning, which translates as,

“If my hunch was right that you were absorbing all our given energy in your body, I will not hesitate to beat you down!”

Wang Hao had an indignant look on his face, as if he was angered by Fang Anwei’s silent accusation.

Fang Anwei felt immense guilt from this. How could she not be guilty? Wang Hao’s sudden arrival changed her life. That meeting with Wang Hao made her experience new and exciting things. Even though some parts of it were sad, she still owes Wang Hao for where she was right now.

“Fang Anwei’s face had an apologetic look on her face as she gave him a silent apology. Wang Hao just winked in response.

....

30 minutes have passed by, and the rings were still absorbing energy. At this point, everyone’s energy reserves were at about 20% remaining. Some of them were worried, clearly afraid of its effects on their bodies.

They were about to slow down their energy release when the rings let out a bright glow.

They heard Wang Hao’s voice as the glow covered them.

“Listen up, make sure to be covered by this glow, for only those covered in this glow can be teleported at the other place.” Fang Anwei checked her body, trying to see if she was within the glow’s range. She sighed in relief after seeing she had no adjustments needed to do.

“Okay, here we go!” Fang Anwei then felt a slight jolt around her, as if she was suddenly pushed by something. After that jolt, she felt nothing else. Her eyes widened as she thought to herself,

“Don’t tell me....”

Before she could articulate her thoughts, she saw the glow covering her disappear. Once it was all gone, what Fang Anwei saw was a foreign landscape.

Instead of a kaleidoscopic sky, she saw a blood-red visage above her head. The air around her was stale, incomparable to the fresh chaos of the Dreamworld. The ground was dry and coarse, which was way different to the soft and comfy ground in the Dreamworld.

There are no Dream Mists on this place. Instead, there were streams of dark miasma freely crawling around her.

Even without any prior experience, Fang Anwei already knew where she was. The environment, the feeling it exudes and the dread deep inside her gave her all the clues. She already had her guess on her current place. It was Wang Hao’s welcome words though that proved that her assumption was right.

“Welcome to the Underworld, the place of the dead, where fatties are commodities!”

“......”
