Chapter 524: Chapter 524: A Powerful Face-Slap (6)

Vera Xavier’s beauty was breathtaking, drawing the attention of every passerby, yet she herself seemed completely unaware.

She was clearly oblivious to the many eyes on her as she calmly took in her surroundings. In reality, she was comparing the Veridia University of today to the one from her past life’s memories.

The overall layout wasn’t that different, but the surrounding trees and flowers had inevitably changed.

Upperclassmen were in charge of welcoming new students at the registration booths. The most capable among them was the student council president, Damian Yale. As a third-year who had done this before, he handled the task with practiced ease, keeping everything organized and running smoothly.

During a brief break, a few of the guys on the welcoming committee started chatting. "The incoming class seems to be on another level compared to ours. They’re all top scorers from their provinces and cities."

"Isn’t that obvious?" another guy scoffed. "Who gets into Veridia University without being a top scorer?"

"There are top scorers, and then there are top scorers, you know? I know you were the top scorer in your province, but even you didn’t get a perfect score on every subject, right?" the first guy said.

He hadn’t been a provincial top scorer himself, so he found the other guy, who never let anyone forget he *was*, a little grating.

"A perfect score in every subject? No way! Only some kind of monster could pull that off!"

"I heard there’s a freshman this year who actually did get a perfect score on everything. Even our department head said they’re not human!"

"Yeah, that’s just monstrous. And I heard it’s a girl."

"Girls who are that smart are usually butt-ugly. Just look at her scores. If you see her in person, the dream will die."

All the guys agreed. The smartest girls they knew were all the type to just bury their heads in books. Even the ones who started out cute ended up turning into total dorks from all the non-stop studying.

Someone asked, "What was that girl’s name again?"

"I think it’s Vera Xavier!"

Just then, a commotion rippled through the crowd. An excited shout rang out, "Whoa, a goddess! A total goddess! Everybody, look!"

The group of guys who had been deep in their discussion immediately craned their necks in the direction he pointed. "Where? Where?"

To them, even though they were students at the nation’s top university, they were hormonal young men first and students second.

The allure of a beautiful girl was irresistible to any guy.

As the group of guys chattered excitedly, Damian Yale let them be. He wasn’t particularly interested in gawking at pretty girls, but he was curious about the rumored Vera Xavier—the one with the perfect score.

He had also gotten into Veridia University as a provincial top scorer, but even he hadn’t managed a perfect score. He didn’t care if Vera Xavier was just a dull bookworm who could only study; her score alone was enough to make him curious about what kind of person she really was.

The student council vice president beside him, Autumn Rhodes, chuckled softly. "Connor Kander just loves to stir up trouble. We’re so busy, and he’s still got time to gawk at girls. President, you’ll have to give him a good talking-to after the orientation is over!"
