The CEO's Wife Is a Medical Master

Chapter 424: Supplementary Treaty

Chapter 424: Chapter 424: Supplementary Treaty

Alistair Forrest was taken aback for a moment. In all his years in business with his grandfather, he had never seen anyone voluntarily ask for a lower salary. But then he remembered what she had told him before and calmed down. His Honey had never been someone motivated by money.

Alistair Forrest smiled at Vera Xavier and asked, "Wouldn’t you rather make more money?"

"If I take your ten million, I won’t be able to slack off even if I want to," Vera Xavier said slowly. "I’m still in school and have my own things I want to do, so I don’t have that much time to coordinate with your work."

Alistair Forrest shrugged. Vera Xavier continued, "So, the second point that needs to be changed is the requirement to assist the company with jade procurement no fewer than three times a year. In principle, that’s not an unreasonable demand."

She paused briefly before continuing, "But as I just said, I don’t have that much time. Therefore, I can only assist the company with one jade procurement trip a year, for a period not to exceed half a month. I also promise that during that time, I will use my ancestral method to select as many high-quality raw stones for the Forrest Group as possible. I will make sure to earn the salary that the Forrest Group pays me."

Alistair Forrest chuckled, his gaze on her deepening. The fact that she had managed to extract so much high-quality jade from such poor-quality stones was already the stuff of legend.

The truth was, in the stone-gambling industry, no one could guarantee that they would find high-quality jade every single time.

For Vera Xavier to say she would earn the salary the Forrest Group paid her showed a deep-seated confidence, and people with that kind of confidence were always capable.

Of course, he didn’t believe her earlier excuse about some ’divine guidance.’ The lie was so half-hearted. ’She must have some kind of special ability,’ he thought. The more he learned about her, the more interesting and charming he found her.

Alistair Forrest looked at her with amusement and said, "I’ve never met anyone who negotiates like you."

Vera Xavier held up her hands. "That just proves you haven’t met enough people. If we can work together, great. If not, that’s fine too. Either way, I’m still grateful for your help this time."

Alistair Forrest heaved a long sigh. "You’ve got me there. Fine, I’ll agree to this condition too."

Vera knew he wouldn’t refuse. Even if she only assisted with procurement once, based on the terms of the contract, the Forrest Group would still come out ahead.

She then pointed to the contract term. "Ten years is too long. I’ll only sign for one year. If it works out, we can cooperate again. As you know, I’m not really part of your world, and I never planned on sticking around in it for the long haul."

"Most people hope for a longer contract when they sign, but you... you actually want to sign for just one year," Alistair Forrest said, pursing his lips.

Vera Xavier smiled. "Well, it’s mainly because my boyfriend thinks you’re bad news, so the shorter the contract, the better."

Alistair Forrest pressed his fingers to his forehead. "Could you please not mention him in front of me?"

"Nope." The corner of Vera Xavier’s mouth twitched. She pulled a piece of paper from her bag and handed it to him. "My boyfriend said he’ll only allow me to work with you if you agree to this addendum. So, you should take a look at this."

Alistair Forrest had a bad feeling the moment he took the addendum, and sure enough, the very first clause read: While Vera Xavier is working, Alistair Forrest is forbidden from being present in any capacity. The company is requested to assign other senior executives to coordinate the work.

"Fuck!" Alistair Forrest shot to his feet the moment he read the clause. "What kind of addendum is this? This is a personal attack!"
