Chapter 2433: Chapter 25: Sisters Reminiscing
The painting Mianmian made was ultimately not displayed. After she ate and drank her fill and slept, she forgot about it.
The next day, she enthusiastically followed her parents to Chenggu County to pay respects to Grandmother and visit Second Grandpa and Second Grandma.
Yuan Gui and Kang Shuxian also accompanied them, and as Kang Shuxian looked at the slightly familiar scenery, she was quite wistful.
The last time she left, she left with a dislike for here, having seen much darkness and sin at the black market, making her dislike everything near it as well.
Now coming back, her feelings were entirely different.
She thought, it wasn’t the place that was wrong, but the people at the black market.
When the carriage entered Chenggu County, the Meng family escort agency quickly received the news.
By the time they arrived at the gate of the escort agency, Uncle Meng and Ms. Tao were already there waiting.
Everyone’s eyes always first gathered on Mianmian. After they ’got to know’ her, the group entered inside.
Shu Yu and Meng Yunzheng didn’t rest. They had left the city early in the morning, and since the hour wasn’t late, Meng Yunzheng wanted to go directly to pay respects to Song Xin.
Uncle Meng nodded repeatedly, "Alright, you go ahead first. We’ll prepare lunch at home, and you can eat once you come down from the mountain."
The three of them went up the mountain, while Little Huohuo and Yuan Gui stayed at the Meng household to rest.
Song Xin’s grave was now in the Meng family’s ancestral tomb, which is cleaned meticulously by the Meng family every year. It was the same this time, with a bouquet placed in front of the grave, indicating someone had visited her not long ago.
Little Mianmian already understood that her grandmother had gone to heaven. She had never met her, but she had heard many stories about her grandmother.
On the way up the mountain, she had picked many flowers and plants, gathered them into a bundle, and placed them in front of the grave, greeting her in her childish voice.
"Grandma, I am Mianmian, we have come to see you. Are you cold now? If you are, Mianmian will burn a quilt for you. Mianmian is the most filial. Grandma, if you feel unwell, you must tell, and Mianmian will think of a way..."
Shu Yu and Meng Yunzheng exchanged a glance and shook their heads with a smile. You really dare to say anything.
By the time Mianmian finished her long monologue, half an hour had already passed.
Meng Yunzheng then picked her up, bid farewell to his mother, and took the mother and daughter down the mountain.
They only planned to stay in Chenggu County for one day, needing to return to the prefecture the next day, and then continue their journey to the capital the day after.
Therefore, after they finished lunch, Yuan Gui took Kang Shuxian to Lu Wu’s house to catch up with Qiao Rou.
Lu Wu’s life was now quite prosperous. Early on, when working under Tang Wenqian, he had been highly valued.
Although Tang Wenqian wasn’t here now, the solid foundation he had laid early on, along with his relationships with Old Master Yang and other landlords in Chenggu County regarding their shared resistance against the black market, meant that his work was always twice the result with half the effort.
He had meritorious achievements a few times, received some reward, and had already exchanged for a two-courtyard house.
Among the few girls who came out of the black market and married locally, Qiao Rou’s life was the most comfortable now.
So, when Kang Shuxian saw her, she found her surprisingly plump.
Qiao Rou herself felt a little embarrassed, but Lu Wu said he liked her with a little more flesh, so she didn’t rush to lose weight.
When she saw Kang Shuxian, she was still very pleasantly surprised. She already knew about the southwest matters, as she exchanged letters with Tao Hongdan and others once a year and naturally knew about Kang Shuxian and Yuan Gui’s affairs.
