Chapter 755 - 654: Husband and Wife
Chapter 755: Chapter 654: Husband and Wife
Gu Shaojun finally realized he’d been had. He knew his young fiancée had a personal space, but their wedding was still a long way off. Besides, when the time came, the elders of the Gu and Tang Families would be the ones to handle the wedding and decorate the bridal suite. It was hardly a task for a young girl like her to worry about. Who would have guessed that she’d bought so many festive wedding supplies on a whim, hidden them in her space, and then capriciously used them to decorate the bedroom like a honeymoon suite? ’Isn’t she just trying to provoke me?’
’This little rascal. Just wait and see how I’ll teach her a lesson!’
Gu Shaojun tossed the towel onto a chair and pounced onto the ornate, bright-red wedding bed. He caught his giggling fiancée and playfully roughed her up until her hair was a mess.
Gu Shaojun gave Xiao Man a hard kiss and took a deep breath. Then, he rolled off the bed and bolted from the bedroom. A moment later, the sound of a running shower came from the bathroom.
While Gu Shaojun was in the bathroom, Xiao Man quickly stored all the bright-red, festive decorations in her space. She replaced them with a set of bedding with a fresh, elegant floral pattern. When Gu Shaojun returned, he stared blankly and asked, "How did it change again? Where’s the other stuff?"
"I put it all away," Xiao Man replied.
"But it was perfect. I really liked it. Why did you put it all away?"
Xiao Man was speechless. ’Are you some kind of masochist?’
"You couldn’t handle it! I was worried you’d overdo it!"
Gu Shaojun pulled his beloved girl tightly into his arms, kissed her on the cheek, and chuckled. "Don’t worry, I’m fine! Bring it all back out. I just need to endure it a time or two to get used to it."
"Let’s not. I was just having some fun. I’d have to put it all away in the morning anyway. We can’t let anyone see it."
"Who’s going to see it? This is our bedroom; we won’t let anyone else in. And even if someone did, so what? Our relationship is official."
Xiao Man patted the new bedspread. "This one is pretty, too, and just as comfortable."
Gu Shaojun gently caressed her delicate cheek. "But I liked the other one more. Seeing my bride sitting there... it made my heart sing."
"It’s not like you dare to act like the groom," Xiao Man teased. She was glad her fiancé could hold himself back, yet she inexplicably felt a little disappointed, too. ’What a walking contradiction I am.’
"Who says I don’t dare? It’s all I dream about!" Gu Shaojun sighed. "We’re destined for each other, but from our past lives to this one, we’ve never successfully tied the knot. It’s better to be cautious. A moment of patience now will ensure clear sailing later. We’ll have a smooth wedding and then live happily ever after for a long, long time. Wouldn’t that be wonderful?"
Xiao Man nestled in his embrace and nodded obediently. "Okay. I won’t tease you anymore."
Gu Shaojun chuckled. "It’s fine. Our wedding isn’t far off, anyway. It’s already February, and July will be here before we know it. We just have to wait for next year!"
Xiao Man traced circles and words on his chest with her finger, poking and prodding him from time to time. Gu Shaojun couldn’t help but suck in a sharp breath. He captured her mischievous little hand and brought it to his lips, giving it a warning nibble.
Xiao Man giggled. "Didn’t you say it was fine?"
"If you’re so eager to play, then how about we make the bed with the other sheets again?"
"Do you really want to?"
"Mhm."
Xiao Man looked up at his face. "Shaojun, you like these bright-red, festive things so much... If someone else decorated a room like this to seduce you, would you be tempted? Would you fall for it?"
Gu Shaojun was speechless. He ran his fingers through her long, silky black hair a few times before burying his face in it, inhaling her unique, delicate scent. "What nonsense are you talking about?" he said, his voice husky. "If the person on that bed wasn’t you, I wouldn’t even spare it a glance. It’s useless for any woman to approach me or try to seduce me."
It was, without a doubt, the sweetest declaration in the world. Xiao Man was satisfied, but she decided to push her luck, continuing her coy act. "But I still don’t like other women getting near you. If I ever find out some woman is trying to seduce you, like that Second Miss Sun, I won’t let her get away with it. That Second Miss Sun was smart to flee the country. Otherwise, I would’ve had to teach her a lesson. How dare she even dream of stealing my *nan piao*? In her dreams!"
Gu Shaojun chuckled and leaned down to peck her cheek a few times, but then his brow furrowed. "I’m your... *nan piao*? What does that mean?"
Xiao Man pressed her lips together. Seeing him look like he was about to bite them, she quickly explained, "*Nan piao* just means boyfriend! It’s slang people in the future like to use for fun!"
"It sounds awful! Don’t call me that. Besides, I’m not your boyfriend. I’m your fiancé, and I’ll be your husband soon."
"Then how about ’hubby’?"
Gu Shaojun made a face. "No."
He was nine years older than Xiao Man, after all. Being called "hubby" just didn’t feel right.
"But you can call me ’wifey’!" Xiao Man said. "’Hubby’ and ’wifey’—lots of couples love to call each other that. They’re pet names for married couples, used from the time they’re young until they’re old. You’re supposed to call each other that for a lifetime."
Gu Shaojun considered this. The sentiment did seem rather nice. He nodded. "Alright. We’ll do that, then."
