Chapter 175: Chapter 139: So Bored You’re Making a Person for Fun?
The next morning.
Gao Yuan didn’t wake up until after ten o’clock.
He groggily opened his eyes and grabbed his phone from the nightstand. Just as he expected, there were dozens of unread messages on WeChat.
Most of the messages were from their little three-person group chat.
Lin Wanyu said it was her birthday today, and her parents had insisted she come home for lunch, so she had already left.
She also mentioned that Gao Yuan hadn’t driven, as his car was still in the underground garage.
Gao Yuan glanced at it and decided not to explain. He had already told one lie, and he didn’t know how many more he’d have to make up to cover for it.
Next, he saw a message from Tongtong wishing him a Merry Christmas. She had even sent a picture of herself wearing the "QQ skin" he’d given her last time.
This time, Gao Yuan replied to Tongtong, saying he had been too busy yesterday and had forgotten to give her the Christmas present he’d prepared.
This made Tongtong ecstatic. She was overjoyed that Gao Yuan had been thinking of her, but in reality, he had completely forgotten.
There were also holiday greetings from Yaoyao and Wang Sichao, which Gao Yuan replied to one by one.
Finally,
he saw a message from Wang Zhixian. An image of a delicate little girl immediately flashed through Gao Yuan’s mind.
"I don’t really celebrate foreign holidays, and I was too busy to check my phone yesterday."
"But, let me wish you a Happy New Year in advance!"
After dealing with all the messages on his phone, Gao Yuan got out of bed.
When he walked into the living room, Xiao Xiao saw he was up and went to the kitchen to prepare breakfast for him.
Xiao Yu was in the living room playing with the Sheltie. Seeing Gao Yuan was awake, she ran over to him.
"Uncle, you’re such a lazybones!"
Gao Yuan gave a sheepish grin. Being called lazy by a child, especially while a guest in someone else’s home, was a bit embarrassing.
He had come out of the master bedroom. Xiao Yu was so smart; she had surely guessed that he and Xiao Xiao were together.
"When are you planning to head back to Shanghai?"
Gao Yuan immediately changed the subject.
"This afternoon."
"Uncle, do you think I should come to Hang City for school too?"
Xiao Yu asked, tilting her head as she looked at Gao Yuan.
Gao Yuan’s heart skipped a beat when he heard Xiao Yu’s question.
’What a joke!’
’Her visiting just once has already worn me out like this. If she came to Hang City for school, it would kill me.’
"Transferring schools back and forth isn’t a good idea."
Before Gao Yuan could answer Xiao Yu, Xiao Xiao’s voice sounded from nearby.
"Oh."
Xiao Yu’s mood visibly deflated.
"Go ahead and eat something first," Xiao Xiao said gently to Gao Yuan.
Since there hadn’t been a man in the house, they didn’t keep any "restorative" foods, so she had specially prepared two extra eggs for Gao Yuan today.
After breakfast, when Xiao Xiao and Xiao Yu learned that Gao Yuan had nothing planned for the morning, they suggested going out for a walk.
Once again, Gao Yuan didn’t drive.
The three of them got into Xiao Xiao’s minivan and headed straight for West Lake.
Xiao Xiao had brought Xiao Yu here to play before, but the little girl insisted on coming again this time, so the two adults indulged her. They wouldn’t be able to stay for long anyway.
After getting out of the car, the three of them strolled along the edge of West Lake. As they walked, Xiao Yu darted between Gao Yuan and Xiao Xiao and took both of their hands.
In that moment, they truly looked like a family of three.
A tall, handsome man; a woman with a captivating figure; and an adorable, lively daughter.
Gao Yuan and Xiao Xiao had no idea that this was all part of Xiao Yu’s plan.
Although she didn’t say it out loud, she was thoroughly enjoying this feeling. She felt especially happy when Gao Yuan’s big hand was holding her small one.
Logically speaking, Xiao Yu had only met Gao Yuan a few times; to her, he was still a stranger.
But for some reason, he felt very familiar to her. Being with him was incredibly comfortable, and she felt no sense of distance at all.
The three of them wandered around until after twelve. During those two-plus hours, Gao Yuan took a lot of photos of mother and daughter.
Gao Yuan and Xiao Yu also painted some plaster figurines.
Xiao Xiao’s outfit today was particularly elegant and flattering to her figure. Combined with her unique aura, Gao Yuan managed to capture several artistic photos of her by the Broken Bridge at West Lake.
They didn’t go anywhere else for lunch. Xiao Xiao led them straight to a villa on the shore of West Lake.
It was a villa that had been converted into a restaurant.
As they entered, Gao Yuan saw Xiao Xiao flash a card and guessed that it must be a members-only establishment, not open to the public.
Sure enough, once inside, Gao Yuan saw a photo of Boss Ma with a chef, who was presumably the owner of this restaurant.
Xiao Xiao ordered some dishes. While they were waiting for the food to arrive, a man in a chef’s uniform walked over.
"President Xiao, you came without giving me a heads-up."
The man approached their table and said to Xiao Xiao with a slight bow.
"It’s fine. We just happened to be in the area," Xiao Xiao said casually. Noticing the chef looking at Gao Yuan and Xiao Yu, she added, "My husband, Gao Yuan, and our daughter."
"Mr. Gao, a pleasure!"
Upon hearing Xiao Xiao’s introduction, the man quickly gave Gao Yuan a slight bow.
Gao Yuan nodded back at him.
After exchanging greetings, the man turned and left.
Xiao Xiao smiled at Gao Yuan. "You’re not angry about what I just said, are you?"
"Uncle’s definitely not angry, right!"
Xiao Yu said directly to Gao Yuan, giving him a deliberate wink.
Gao Yuan reached out and patted Xiao Yu’s head. "How could I be angry?"
"I’m happy to have such a cute daughter!"
With that, Gao Yuan and Xiao Yu shared a conspiratorial high-five.
But this scene left Xiao Xiao stunned.
Though she kept a smile on her face, a tidal wave of emotions suddenly crashed through her heart.
