Chapter 753 - Peak Rainbow Ring

Chapter 753: Peak Rainbow Ring

“Law Overlord! A Law Overlord has appeared!” Old Black furrowed his brows as he stared at the screen.

This Ancient Battlefield did not just contain treasures left behind by the gods and demons who had fought wars here before. It was also a cultivation holy land that many warriors could only dream about. The four-week test that took place before actually entering the battlefield had once helped countless warriors advance, and this time was no exception. A level 9 Great Law Emperor from the Demon Race had used this time to cultivate and successfully crossed the Law Overlord threshold!

Old White still had a grim face as he said, “This makes things even worse for the God Race warriors. The Demon Race has produced a Law Overlord! I suspect that this is on purpose. By sending a warrior who’s about to become a Law Overlord here, they can both help him advance and sweep the battlefield. Even if someone does find a relic from ancient times on the battlefield, this newly promoted Law Overlord will still be able to seize it, killing two birds with one stone!”

Old Black was startled and smashed his fists together, creating a giant boom.

“How sinister! If it’s really as you said, the Demon Race’s warriors have probably come prepared. Once they enter the battlefield, they will definitely band together and purge the God Race’s warriors!

“No! We must stop this tragedy from happening! Although we’re no longer part of the God Race, these warriors are still our juniors. We can’t just watch them die! For instance, Xia Fei and I have some fated connection with each other. Putting aside the fact that he inherited the Law of Primal Chaos, even that grand ancestor of his Skywing Clan once went all-out to single-handedly save the entire God Race, with our father among them, from collapse!”

Old White nodded. “True. That’s also why the Skywings are coined as the Demon-sealing Fiendish Blade. The entire God Race remembers their contribution. We should show them some respect.”

Old White then shook his head. “Still, have you ever considered that the Law Overlords and above aren’t permitted to enter the Ancient Battlefield? Even if we force our way through the barrier and kill those from the Demon Race, this will only incite further conflict between the two races. The conflicts between the two peak races have been getting worse. All that’s lacking is a fuse to set off the explosion. In the worst case, we may even start an all-out war between the two races!”

Old Black was startled and his face darkened. Many strategists had predicted that, as the conflicts between the two races intensified, the next war between the gods and demons was imminent. If they really did end up moving up the time of this war, the Black and White Gods would be committing a terrible crime. Moreover, both sides would suffer devastating losses as a result, and this was something that they did not want to see.

Old white added, “Even if a war between the two races doesn’t happen, those undying old coots will definitely notice it if we show up on the Ancient Battlefield. Let alone the fact that we’re losing our best hiding spot, Xia Fei may even be investigated, and then you’ll be dragging him into our mess. Rather than helping him, we will just be hurting him!”

Old Black pouted and unhappily asked, “Why is it me that’ll be implicating him? You make it sound as if this has got nothing to do with you.”

Old White nonchalantly replied, “Who told you to develop the Law of Primal Chaos? You even managed to drag me into your mess.”

The black and white parrots were speechless. As the two brothers talked, they somehow started bickering with each other once more. These siblings were truly outrageous.

Blackie, who had always served as the mediator between his two masters, hastily said, “Xia Fei is the one in a truly bad situation, having to take part in the Alpha Protocol test. Other people have been soaring in cultivation, but Xia Fei is being held up by the system. The battlefield is about to open, but he’s still a level 1 Law Emperor. If only he could get just a little stronger, then he would be able to protect himself better on the battlefield.”

Old Black had his attention successfully diverted, and he momentarily gave up on arguing with his brother to say solemnly, “That’s true. Xia Fei choosing to take part in this bizarre test is truly unfortunate.”

Xia Fei, who was still tangled up with the Ancient Battlefield’s system, grew increasingly annoyed by the series of tests. They did nothing to improve his strength and only served to stoke his anger and frustration.

“It’s finally over.” Oro shook his head. “You’ve essentially wasted twenty-eight days for one supersize spatial ring. If you spent all this time on cultivation, you might already be a level 3 Law Emperor.”

Xia Tian shrugged. “Everything is about price. While twenty-eight days is valuable, the Peak Rainbow isn’t going to just drop from the heavens. With this ring, I’ll be able to pack even more items, even a couple more small warships.”

Oro knew very well that Xia Fei had always been a believer in price theory. Paying too much was not frightening; the key was how much one got in return. It was clear that, without this opportunity, Xia Fei could have paid ten times the price and still not gotten such a large spatial ring in return. From this point of view, rather than suffering a loss, Xia Fei had made a small profit.

*Pa!*

The ground suddenly split open, and a rainbow-colored spatial ring was carried up on an alloy platform.

Xia Fei and Oro were both entranced by this ring, for it was far too unique. It had the texture of a glossy pearl and a crystalline color. It was simply impossible to describe this sense of magical wonder.

“Peak Rainbow, the apex of the rainbow! This ring really matches its name. You can tell at a glance that it’s an outstanding item.” Oro changed his tone as soon as he saw the ring and stopped talking about how taking the Alpha Protocol exam was just a waste of time. Not even someone as powerful and prestigious as Oro had ever possessed such a massive spatial ring.

Xia Fei immediately grabbed the ring and sent his consciousness into it. He said in delight, “It’s real! One million cubic meters! An outstanding item! Definitely of the highest quality! As the saying goes, better to taste a fresh peach than eat half a basket of rotten apricots! Any item of the highest quality is always priceless!”

Oro said nothing. Peak Rainbow was gorgeous and mysterious, so it was obvious that Xia Fei’s judgment had been correct. This was a treasure that could not be bought. At times, a warrior’s rank and fighting power did not matter; what mattered more was how many weapons and trump cards one had.

Xia Fei was a classic example. His rank was not very high, but he was a nightmare for opponents of the same rank. The reason was none other than that he possessed numerous trump cards, and with this Peak Rainbow, his trump cards had increased again.

Exhaling, Xia Fei played around with the ring for a little while. When it was not moving, the ring was like a placid pool of water, devoid of any luster, like a bald stone, but once it was activated, it was like a faint and mysterious rainbow. This matched perfectly with Xia Fei’s lowkey nature.

“Alright, get ready to enter the Ancient Battlefield. Believe me when I say that you will definitely be moved by this world crafted by the strong,” Oro sternly said.

Xia Fei lit a cigarette and quietly waited for the miraculous sight Oro spoke of.

One second became two seconds became a whole five minutes, but the door leading to the Ancient Battlefield still did not open. Xia Fei could not help but be curious. Had passing the Alpha Protocol exam deprived him of the chance to enter the battlefield? If that was true, that would mean that he had made a loss.

As he was wondering this, a screen popped up in front of him, presenting new options!

“‘According to the calculations, your Alpha Index has more than met the standard and you have two options: One, enter the Ancient Battlefield directly; two, engage in a period of all-aspect cultivation for a week’?!” Xia Fei’s eyes brightened as he read out the words on the screen.

“All-aspect cultivation?” Xia Fei muttered. “It means that I have one week to increase my level by using the Ancient Battlefield system, right?”

Oro was flabbergasted. “There’s even such a benefit? The Ancient Battlefield is only open for two weeks. If you choose to cultivate, you’ll be entering in week two, later than everyone else by an entire week!”

“This is truly a dilemma.” Oro shook his head. “The Ancient Battlefield’s system is very advanced, and using it to increase your level will save you a lot of time, but the Ancient Battlefield has a lot of fun things waiting for you to find and discover. If you arrive a week late, you’ll miss the key moment.”

Xia Fei smiled. “To tell the truth, I’m not really planning to find any sort of treasure on that big battlefield.”

Oro was confused by this. “Then what’re you planning to do there? If you’re not searching for mysterious stuff on the battlefield, then you’ll be making a big loss! Those are mystical weapons that have been left behind since the ancient era; getting even one will be of enormous help to you!”

Xia Fei craftily smiled as he spoke in a sinister tone, “It’s not like I’m the only one going in to search. I actually prefer robbing…”

Oro finally got it. Xia Fei was planning to have other people search for him; after which, he would seize their spoils!

“It’s a good thing that only one Law Overlord appeared on the Demon Race’s side. The God Race warriors may still stand a chance.” In the control room, Old Black commented as he looked through the list of people entering the Ancient Battlefield.

His brother, Old White, was less optimistic, sternly saying, “Advancing to Law Overlord is excruciatingly difficult. Having one person stand out may seem fortunate for our side, but it’s exactly the opposite.”

Old Black urgently asked, “What do you mean by that?”

Old White bitterly chuckled and then sighed. “It’s very simple. If the Demon Race had several Law Overlords emerging at once, all of them of equal strength, then none of them would be willing to submit to the others, so it’d be very easy for them to start infighting.”

Old White coldly looked at his brother, who shuddered as he finally understood. “That’s true! If the Demon Race has only one Law Overlord, he’ll be the undisputed leader of all the Demon Race warriors. No matter how unwilling the rest are, they won’t dare to oppose him. After all, the difference in level is right there! ‘Might makes right’ is the guiding principle of the entire Law Realm!

“The Demon Race has only one Law Overlord, meaning that he has the right to command the others. With the Demon Race warriors united, their fighting power will be far greater than if they’re fractured! Our God Race’s warriors are in grave danger!”

Old Black realized the severity of the situation and hastily looked through the files. When he saw the background of this Demon Race Law Overlord, he paled.

“The Darkpearl Clan! Heavens! This warrior is from the mortal foe of the Skywing Clan! One of the few bane existences of the Demon-sealing Fiendish Blade!” Old Black grew even more worried and dejectedly said this. “The God Race warriors are in a bad state, especially Xia Fei!”
