Chapter 4615: Descent

Chapter 4615: Descent

The Clear Sky Locked Earth Array suddenly froze, and then it seemed to be simply brushed aside by an invisible hand, shattering bit by bit.

At that moment, Lu Yin felt an indescribable terror overcome him. He hurried to fall back, and his awareness returned to his true body.

Ji and Old Man Hehe also retreated.

No matter whom Lu Yin had faced before, he had never experienced this feeling before. It was as though he was a person in a wilderness, and the entire universe, together with the wilderness itself, had suddenly pressed down upon him, intent on destroying everything completely.

This feeling was even more terrifying than that of the sky collapsing and the earth caving in.

Hong Xia's hair wildly about, and the "Fate" (运) character on his forehead shattered.

Lu Yin saw this, noticing the character. A flash of understanding appeared: Xiang Siyu.

In his place of seclusion, he had found the ashes of the “Luck” characters, as well as blood that had been spat onto the ground. Most importantly, there was the fact that Xiang Siyu had gone missing.

Pfft.

Hong Xia spat out blood.

In the endless darkness of the cosmos, a streak of light appeared. It was like the morning sun at the dawn of the universe, bringing warmth to the people.

However, this warmth gave Lu Yin a terrible chill.

Something arrived.

Gauze fluttered in front of Hong Xia, and a fair hand reached out from the void. It gleamed with a crystalline luster while bringing a warmth like the morning sun.

Lu Yin watched as someone gradually emerged from the void. Although he was not surprised, he still could not suppress his shock. It was indeed Xiang Siyu.

The being that appeared in the middle of the Aevum Inch was unmistakably Xiang Siyu. Her appearance was exactly the same as before. Only her aura had changed.

The Xiang Siyu whom Lu Yin was familiar with possessed a gentleness mixed with firmness, a stubbornness mixed with sweetness. Every frown and every smile tugged at the hearts of those who saw her. Although her luck was extraordinary, to the point where she was known as a walking lucky charm, she had never submitted to it. In fact, she had always seen her exceptional luck as a divine punishment. Initially, her life had been without any obstacles, yet that ease was precisely what had forever prevented her from taking that final step into the Immortal realm.

In contrast, the Xiang Siyu who had just appeared was noble, cold, and stunning, to the point where it was impossible to directly look at her. She radiated a sense of distance, as though she looked down upon everything.

Even Lu Yin felt a chill in his heart when he saw her eyes.

While her appearance was the same, she was a completely different person.

Hong Xia coughed up blood and stared at Xiang Siyu as she stepped out of the void. He sank to his knees. "This subordinate is useless and has troubled Master to appear."

Xiang Siyu's gaze was cold. She did not even look at Hong Xia. "Who injured you so badly? Is this the Clear Sky Locked Earth Array?"

Hong Xia’s breathing was ragged. "It was those people. They nearly killed this subordinate."

Xiang Siyu looked over. Her gaze swept past Ji to land on Lu Yin. As she looked at him, disgust filled her eyes. "You again."

Lu Yin stared at her. "Who are you? What is your relationship with Xiang Siyu?"

The corners of Xiang Siyu's mouth rose, yet it only created an expression of cold contempt. "Do not mention that name. You are unworthy."

Her attention then swept over to Old Man Hehe, and she gave a small frown. "One from the Nine Ramparts, a ferryman of the River of Aeons."

Old Man Hehe swayed as they exclaimed, "Truly, we have drawn over an extraordinary existence."

Lu Yin slowly clenched a fist. Given that she instantly recognized Old Man Hehe, Lu Yin made a connection with what Hong Xia had just said and understood that the war against the Nine Ramparts indeed contained hidden darkness. The contents of the notes that Ancestor Shan had written on the pieces of armor flashed through Lu Yin’s mind.

"Let us go." Xiang Siyu’s cold gaze swept back over everyone present before she moved to leave with Hong Xia.

How could Lu Yin accept that? No matter what kind of existence this Xiang Siyu might be, he had to kill Hong Xia if at all possible. "Stop."

Hong Xia shot a vicious glare at Lu Yin, even as a cold mocking light flickered in his eyes.

Xiang Siyu looked back at him, and the contempt in her eyes grew even stronger. "You dare to stop me?"

As Lu Yin opened his mouth to reply, Old Man Hehe's voice reached his ears. "Let them go."

Lu Yin looked over.

Old Man Hehe was being unprecedentedly serious. "Listen to me: let them go. This is not someone that you can provoke right now."

"Just who is she?" Lu Yin asked.

Xiang Siyu's eyes remained icy. "You are unworthy of knowing, but since you wish to die, I will grant your wish."

As she spoke, she raised a pale, jade-like hand and casually waved it in the direction of Lu Yin and the others.

There was clearly nothing there, but at this moment, Lu Yin felt an incredible danger descending. It was as though he were before the open maw of an invisible monster.

He instantly teleported to Ji's side, and they both vanished.

In front of Old Man Hehe, gray lines of time twisted and extended one by one, only to also snap one by one.

"Heaven's Fate: when it cycles, it comes; when it comes, it perishes." These words were like the unseen whispers of the cosmos. They did not come from Xiang Siyu, and yet Lu Yin, Ji, and the others all heard them at the same moment.

Heaven’s Fate? An instant later, Lu Yin had already teleported far away, yet the feeling of being targeted by a ravenous monster did not weaken at all. Instead, it followed him like a shadow.

Teleportation was not unbeatable, but at the very least, he should be able to see whatever was capable of countering it. However, at this moment, he could see nothing. There were only those words.

Suddenly, from somewhere unimaginably far away, a profound darkness swept across the cosmos, descending like an invisible monster.

The feeling of being targeted that clung to Lu Yin instantly retracted.

This darkness was no longer merely a color. It was the inevitable end of life—its withering, its deprivation. It was the final calling of every living creature.

A deep voice fell from the darkness, also carrying an indescribable, overwhelming might. "You’ve crossed a line."

Lu Yin looked in the direction from which the darkness had come. It was the direction of the Death Megaverse. There was no need to guess; he knew that this voice belonged to the legendary ruler of the Death Megaverse: the Death Overlord.

This was the existence who had single-handedly created the Death Megaverse, a terrifying being whom even Immortals regarded as a legend.

The Death Overlord had actually appeared. The war had just taken a drastic turn.

No, perhaps this had been the case all along, only that Lu Yin had never been able to clearly see the truth of the war between Obscura and the Death Megaverse, neither in this war, nor the previous one.

Xiang Siyu ignored Lu Yin and the others, her attention solely on the darkness. She no longer appeared lofty and aloof, but rather adopted a hint of solemnity. "What is the line? Who set the line?

"We are the line itself."

The voice in the darkness mockingly replied, "As arrogant as ever. Perhaps it is precisely because of that part of your nature that you have not ended up like me."

Xiang Siyu coldly and arrogantly said, "Since your power has declined so much, you should obediently stay put. And yet, you still dare to show yourself. Are you not afraid that your death will become your own ending?"

"It seems your appearance was an accident."

"What do you mean?"

"Incense has already been lit for me."

A flicker of surprise flashed across Xiang Siyu's eyes, but she immediately grew indifferent again. "That is also fine. In any case, you can no longer return. This vacancy needs to be filled."

Boom.

A flash of white light appeared somewhere, and yet it illuminated the entire Aevum Inch.

This was unbelievably shocking. The white light fell upon Lu Yin's face as his pupils flickered with disbelief. What kind of power could spread beyond the distance that he could see with the Mirrorlight Art in every direction?

This flash of white light had truly illuminated the entire Aevum Inch.

An even more shocking scene then appeared. Lu Yin felt his body’s severe injuries start to rapidly recover. The same was true for Hong Xia, as well as countless living beings throughout the cosmos within the range of Lu Yin’s Mirrorlight Art. It seemed that this white light had brought salvation.

A truly countless number of living creatures knelt in worship.

Then, a great surging river stretched across the Aevum Inch, stretching out without end. It was precisely the true River of Aeons.

Lu Yin looked up. This was larger than any glimpse of the River of Aeons that he had ever caught before. Anything he had seen before had only been the tip of the iceberg. Even the river that had dragged Ruinfall away could not compare to the scale of what Lu Yin was currently looking at.

This was the power of time that could truly cover the entire Aevum Inch.

As the true River of Aeons appeared, a gray color that looked like mist descended and spread across the Aevum Inch.

Time fell into chaos.

Lu Yin was horrified. How can this be? Why is the main stream disrupting time for the Aevum Inch?

A living being had to be controlling it.

There was also that flash of white light just a moment ago.

"My karmic chain?" Ji commented in surprise.

Lu Yin looked down at the wrist of his divine energy clone and was shaken by what he saw. There was a karmic chain. It was the same as the wrist of his true body.

Why? His clone was clearly not an Immortal, so why was there a karmic chain?

Something occurred to him, and he peered across space into a megaverse in the distance. There, he observed the various creatures. Karmic chains had appeared on different parts of every single creature’s body. Regardless of whether they were Immortals or not, every living creature had gained a karmic chain.

This was the power of the Primacy Path. The power of the Primacy Path had descended.

In the Aevum Inch, there were powers that affected all living beings, and one could even say they were the origins of all objective knowledge. For example, time. Even within the Tianyuan’s Mirari Realm, where time did not pass, as long as one underwent change, there had to be a change in time. This change came from the main stream of the River of Aeons, from the immutable, mighty power of time that encompassed the entire Aevum Inch.

Another example was that the entire Aevum Inch was boundless. That was space.

Yet another example was that all things in existence with causes also had effects. That was the karma that existed throughout all of the Aevum Inch.

Every power that could encompass the entire Aevum Inch was the power of a Primacy Path.

Powers such as time and karma could be cultivated. The power of the Primacy Paths could be cultivated by living creatures. Those who could master the power of a Primacy Path were the true rulers of the Aevum Inch.

No one had told Lu Yin any of this, but he was able to deduce the truth.

The more he understood the Aevum Inch, the more he saw certain truths that could not be touched. He had once wondered if everything he did was being observed by some invisible existence that he could not see but could see him. Even if it was right on top of him, he would still be unable to discern that existence’s presence.

That kind of existence was known as the Primacy Path.

He fought enemies with the power of time. That time could be observed by the Primacy Path, which could see him through the power of time.

Whether it was time, karma, space, or even life and death, there were beings of the Primacy Paths watching.

He had always been observed. He simply had not expected the power of the Primacy Paths to descend in materialized form.

That River of Aeons, that flash of white light, and even Xiang Siyu all belonged to the Primacy Paths.

Even the Death Overlord was the same. That profound darkness represented death.

The entire Aevum Inch fell into chaos: Time, Karma, Life, Death, and even Fate. It was as though the cosmos itself was no longer the same cosmos.

At this moment, even Lu Yin could not spare any attention for killing Hong Xia.

As for the war between Obscura and the Death Megaverse, given the current upheaval, that conflict seemed utterly insignificant.

"All of you want to force me, but even if I have grown weaker, who dares to step onto the field and fight me?" The Death Overlord's voice was magnificent, and the death it brought was like withered leaves falling away. "No matter how arrogant you may be, and no matter how badly you wish to control the cosmos, I will forever remain the threshold that you cannot cross.

"This place, I give to you. Whoever is willing to step onto the field may come find me." After saying this, the profound darkness rapidly withdrew into the distance.

Lu Yin watched the darkness instantly disappear, even leaving the range of his Mirrorlight Art in the blink of an eye. This was the speed of the Death Overlord. What was the difference between that sort of speed and teleportation?
