Chapter 4576: Apology

Chapter 4576: Apology

Only Lu Yin’s true self could set foot on that battlefield.

Meanwhile, his skeleton clone clenched his bony fist and smashed it out with great force. The gap in the primal talisman materials kept widening.

Furball, the Immortal Lord, and Hong Xia all saw Lu Yin attack, as did Old Sixth, the pure black creature, and the blood-stained skeleton.

Old Sixth let out a strange shriek, "So there’s actually a traitor? Damn it!"

The pure black creature turned around and released a gray torrent. It was the power of time. It was a subordinate of Ruinfall, and the Abyssal was a ferryman of a branch of the River of Aeons. Naturally, the black creature also had incredible mastery over the power of time.

However, Furball intercepted the creature.

Only the blood-stained skeleton turned and charged at Lu Yin. Although the Immortal Lord did not fear that skeleton, they did find it difficult to stop it.

When that skeleton drew close to Lu Yin, the sword-testing stone finally moved its sword. There was a single movement, and the blade edge stabbed straight at the blood-stained skeleton.

The skeleton had not expected the sword-testing stone to attack it. Caught off guard, the bones were pierced through by the thrust. Fortunately, it was a skeleton, lacking flesh and blood, so the blow was not too serious.

The Immortal Lord seized the opening and attacked with green grass, stopping the skeleton from attacking Lu Yin.

Lu Yin threw another punch. Suddenly, he felt a spike of danger from another direction. He turned his head and looked over at Wang Wen's battlefield. Darkness had appeared there, and it was even darker than the surrounding Stillness. It looked as if it were the source of all darkness.

Is that the Three Death Arts?

Right after that, streaks of black light blossomed from that ultimate darkness, piercing in every direction. This was a battle technique from the Death Codex: Dead End.

Dead End spread out farther and farther, with three beams stabbing at the battlefield where Lu Yin was. One shot right past him, and another one moved towards the Immortal Lord. The Immortal Lord hurried to dodge, yet nearly half of its green body melted away.

The last one shot towards Hong Xia and Old Sixth. The two broke apart from each other and allowed the beam of Dead End to pass between them.

The beams of Dead End continued on into Infinity. The power of the attack left everyone’s scalps tingling.

That was the terrifying Stillness of Nethersea Suppression. Lu Yin was certain that just the Stillness used to unleash that Dead End surpassed his entire reserves of Stillness.

Nethersea Suppression controlled the greatest amount of Stillness of any creature in the Death Megaverse.

"Be careful!" Lu Yin shouted sternly, "Dead End can move!"

Right after that, the beams proceeded to turn, one after another. They did not converge into a single beam, as Lu Yin had once done, but instead started spinning around. The first to be touched was the pure black creature. A beam of Dead End passed straight through it, yet nothing happened.

Dead End only attacked creatures that did not cultivate Stillness. Lu Yin and the others could not see the other battlefield clearly, and the individuals fighting on that battlefield also did not have a clear understanding of Lu Yin’s battlefield. Dead End was merely targeting creatures that did not cultivate Stillness. If not for that caveat, Lu Yin definitely would have been attacked.

Furball and the Immortal Lord hurriedly moved to keep pace with the rotating attack.

Hong Xia glanced into the distance, lifted a foot, and moved away. He crossed a Dead End, and the beam suddenly released Stillness, as though connecting heaven and earth. As a result, Hong Xia was enveloped.

Lu Yin looked over. The man was completely unharmed. He emerged from the Dead End and moved toward Ruinfall. The man had simply withstood the Dead End.

The Absolute of No Absolutes was the cosmic law that Hong Xia resonated with, and it was extremely difficult to deal with. Green Lotus considered himself equal to any peak two-law Immortal, and yet he had still forced himself to spend a tremendous amount of time to adapt his Heavenly Karmic Macrocosm so that he could use it against Hong Xia.

Nethersea Suppression was very powerful, and it might even be a three-law powerhouse, but defeating Hong Xia with a single attack like Dead End was impossible.

Hong Xia crossed past one Dead End beam after another to arrive before Ruinfall. The man raised his sword high and sliced down.

That one slash tore through the primal talisman materials, splitting open the gap that Lu Yin had just barely managed to widen after countless punches.

Just one sword strike, and the edge of the slash swept across everything. The primal talisman materials were torn open yet again.

At this moment, all of the beams of Dead End suddenly converged into a solitary beam that shot at Hong Xia.

The man retreated. One hand held his sword while the other grabbed at the primal talisman materials as he pulled back farther and farther.

Lu Yin understood. Hong Xia was targeting the materials, but what did he want them for?

Hong Xia also possessed a Grand Clarity sourcebox array and was connected to the Grand Clarity Civilization. Was it possible that he wanted to try to use that material to contact Grand Clarity?

Dead End continued to pursue Hong Xia. He retreated all the way back until he was standing at the Immortal Lord's side. Behind him was the blood-stained skeleton.

That creature immediately attacked Hong Xia, but he just ignored it. Its attacks were completely useless. Hong Xia grabbed the skeleton and retreated yet again.

Dead End transformed again, this time splitting back into countless tiny beams that curved around and gradually closed in on Hong Xia.

He held the skeleton as he leaped forward, racing away from Dead End.

Furball roared, and charged out together with the Immortal Lord. For a moment, neither Old Sixth nor the pure black creature tried to stop them.

The beams of Dead End fully enclosed the area, forming a cage. Within it were Ruinfall, Lu Yin, the sword-testing stone, Old Sixth, and the pure black creature.

Outside stood Hong Xia. His cold gaze swept across those within the cage, and then he let go of the skeleton with one hand. The skeleton roared as it attacked, but he did not care about it at all. Taking the skeleton and the primal talisman materials away could also count as completing a mission for Obscura.

Regardless of whether it had been Wang Wen or Ba Se who had schemed against him, Hong Xia would no longer do anything for Obscura. Although he had never really done anything for them in the past, he was far warier of Obscura now, especially given that this war involved two behemoth civilizations. Sometimes, cannon fodder could be designated without anyone even realizing it.

Furball and the Immortal Lord looked at Lu Yin within the cage. The Immortal Lord remained silent, but Furball attacked the cage, attempting to free Lu Yin.

No matter how anyone looked at the situation, Lu Yin was isolated and alone, facing Old Sixth, the pure black creature, and Ruinfall.

Suddenly, another attack pierced the gaps between the beams of Dead End over at the main battlefield. This power peeled the void away layer by layer, bringing about a harsh and biting chill that instantly caused Hong Xia, Furball, and the others to feel an overwhelming sense of danger.

The cage formed from the beams of Dead End was swept into the distance by the power. Space collapsed in its path, and the cosmos shattered.

Hong Xia turned to look at the main battlefield with a heavy heart. That had been Wang Wen's power. Hong Xia was seeing it yet again. It was a terror that no one could resist. That man was truly unfathomable.

Furball also looked over at the main battlefield, feeling powerless. It was no wonder why Gao Tian had been beaten so badly that it had not felt safe enough to even return home. This Keeper of Balance was absolutely a three-law old monster.

Fortunately, this force appeared just once before it was blocked by the power of time of the River of Aeons’ main stream.

Even the strength of a three-law powerhouse could not suppress the main stream of the River of Aeons. That was the power of time that covered the entire Aevum Inch.

Wang Wen, Nethersea Suppression, and the other supreme experts were all submerged within the power of time, which left them unable to influence the outside world for a short while.

At the same time, Lu Yin was absolutely horrified. His body rolled about within the Dead End cage. Old Sixth and Ruinfall were not any more capable of avoiding the power of time. By the time they were able to react, they could no longer see the main battlefield, Hong Xia, Furball, or the others on the secondary battlefield.

The Dead End cage had been flung extremely far away in a mere instant.

Lu Yin used the Mirrorlight Art to peer into the distance, but the problem was that he did not even know which direction to look in. Even if the main battlefield was within his range of sight, it would still be extremely difficult for him to locate it again.

Turning his head, he saw Ruinfall had hidden itself within the darkness in one corner of the cage. In the other three directions were Old Sixth, the pure black creature, and the sword-testing stone.

Old Sixth was the first to speak, and toad did so while staring at Lu Yin. "Fine, you traitor. Tell me, when did you join Obscura? How long have you been deceiving us for? You were clearly granted Bone Script, so how could you still join Obscura?"

Lu Yin glanced at Old Sixth. That toad was the greatest threat at the moment.

Ruinfall was very powerful, and it was also an Abyssal, but it was unable to act. Even if they were very far from the main battlefield, the River of Aeons’ main stream still covered the entire Aevum Inch. Even that vast distance could be considered nothing to it.

In addition, after losing the primal talisman materials, it would be dragged away by the main stream as soon as it took action.

This was also why Ruinfall had not been able to stop Hong Xia from stealing the protective materials earlier.

Then, there was the pure black creature. Lu Yin looked over at it.

"Hey, traitor! I asked you a question! Why are you looking over there? And to think I even helped you go to Thousand Machinations’ Abyss. You traitor! Shameless and despicable!" Old Sixth hefted their steel fork while angrily shouting at Lu Yin.

Lu Yin replied in a calm tone, "The one who granted me Bone Script was Withered Requiem, and my Stillness has surpassed theirs. Unless Nethersea Suppression or Thousand Machinations suppress me, I am free."

"Does being free mean that you can betray the Death Megaverse? Traitor!" Old Sixth shouted angrily.

Ruinfall's voice then rang out. "There must be traitors in the Death Megaverse, and more than one at that. This time, one has been forced out. We do not need to know the reason. Just deal with it, toad."

Old Sixth instantly grew infuriated. "Ruinfall, what did you just call me?"

"It called you ‘toad,’" Lu Yin replied. However, his attention remained warily locked onto the pure black creature. This fellow had attacked him before, and it was not at all weak.

Fortunately, the sword-testing stone could still help Lu Yin block that enemy.

"Ruinfall, you dare call me toad? Apologize!" Old Sixth roared.

Ruinfall's voice grew cold and sinister. "Deal with that traitor quickly. As long as Nethersea Suppression and the others drive back Obscura’s forces, I will still have a chance to release my limit and complete our goal. I will continue to exist for another era."

Old Sixth glared at Ruinfall. "I will say it again. Apologize!"

"What are you saying?"

"What am I saying? This anura is a Seven-Treasure Anura, and my Abyss is called the Invincible Heavenly Anura! You dare to call me a toad? That is an insult! Apologize!"

"This is not the time to talk about this."

"This is the most important thing to me! One last time. Apologize!"

"What do you want?"

Old Sixth leaped forward, stabbing their steel fork at Ruinfall. "Did you not understand even after I explained things to you so many times? You dared to insult this Seven-Treasure Anura, which is courting death!"

Lu Yin was stunned. Is that toad serious? Internal strife at a time like this?

Wait... Lu Yin stared at Old Sixth. The toad was not holding back at all with this attack.

Ruinfall turned into a black stream as it kept dodging. Stillness surged forth from Old Sixth. The steel fork danced about, stabbing out again and again. The attacks grew even fiercer than when the toad had fought against Hong Xia.

No matter how foolish Old Sixth might be, they would never do something like this at this moment.

Lu Yin saw through it, and naturally, so did Ruinfall. "Toad, you are also a traitor."

Old Sixth roared angrily, "You are the traitor! This Seven-Treasure Anura is the very symbol of loyalty!"

"Are the Abyssals of the Death Megaverse not stronger than the members of Obscura? Why would you betray us? Or were you a part of Obscura all along?" Ruinfall was genuinely puzzled, and Lu Yin was even more confused.

The Seven-Treasure Anuras and Obscura were old enemies. Long ago, another Seven-Treasure Anura had been killed by someone from Obscura. Lu Yin could understand Old Sixth joining the Death Megaverse, perhaps wanting to borrow its power to target Obscura, but Lu Yin truly could not understand its betrayal of the Death Megaverse at this juncture.
