Chapter 4559: A Familiar Helper
Chapter 4559: A Familiar Helper
Lu Yin had only felt hope just now because he had seen this gate. While he did not understand why a megaverse so close to Thousand Machinations' Abyss would have Obscura’s presence, Obscura meant hope in this situation.
The Lepidarch's voice reached into the megaverse, causing the entire place to sway. "Junior, if you move again, I will kill you immediately."
It did not know what Lu Yin was planning, but the skeleton had clearly been aiming for this megaverse. Since he had entered it, the Lepidarch would not allow Lu Yin to move again.
Lu Yin opened his hands. "I will not move. Speak."
He could agree to not move, but there was no problem with controlling some objects nearby. The gate stood in the distance, but for someone of his strength, even if the gate were halfway across the megaverse, he could still throw stones through it.
That was exactly what he did. He controlled the stones and tossed them through the gate.
The Lepidarch's voice dropped low. "How much does the Death Megaverse know about me?"
Lu Yin gave an honest answer. "A lot. It’s been watching you this entire time. Didn’t you know?
"Also, I’m very curious about something. Why have you been wandering around this area all along? Couldn’t you have stayed away from the Death Megaverse?"
The Lepidarch's tone dropped even more. "To me, the Death Megaverse is safer."
Lu Yin kept throwing stones through the gate while staring up at the Aevum Inch. Safer? That was reasonable. The Lepids were boneless, so the Death Megaverse could not convert the Lepidarch. On the other hand, if it went to another region of the Aevum Inch, given how it constantly wandered about, it would eventually run into a powerful enemy. Even if that powerful enemy could not threaten the Lepidarch’s life, the Lepidarch would still feel the sting if a few of its Immortal Lepids were casually eliminated.
The Lepidarch had always been circling around the Death Megaverse’s territory because it was certain that the Death Megaverse would not do anything to it.
Lu Yin was in no hurry to speak and simply kept throwing stones through the gate. Why has no one from Obscura come through yet?
"Aside from you yourself, Grand Clarity is actually another reason why the Death Megaverse is targeting you." Lu Yin tried to buy more time.
The Lepidarch was surprised. "The Grand Clarity Civilization?"
Could there really be a connection to that civilization?
Lu Yin said, "Yes. You once fought against Grand Clarity, and that civilization’s sourcebox arrays were left on your back. The Death Megaverse needs those arrays, but unfortunately, they don’t know that you devour Myriad Metal Qi. You’ve even devoured the Myriad Metal Qi of the primal talismans sealing the sourcebox arrays, causing the arrays to fade away. I can also report this to the Death Megaverse and lower your value."
The Lepidarch did not speak and silently flapped its wings.
Lu Yin was still throwing stones, never stopping.
"Junior, how can you prove your words?"
"There is someone watching you. Can’t you sense that yourself?"
"I mean the matter of you lowering my value. How can you guarantee that?"
Lu Yin was only stalling and had not thought that far. "What sort of guarantee do you want?"
"It cannot be guaranteed," the Lepidarch stated bluntly.
Lu Yin looked at the Lepidarch while throwing stones faster. He sensed that there was something off about the Lepidarch's tone.
The Immortal’s voice grew heavy enough to press down upon the entire megaverse. "You want to save your life, so you told me what I wanted to hear, but you cannot help me. In the Aevum Inch, placing hope in another species will only lead to death.
"The fact that you are able to bewitch me with mere words proves that you can lower my value in the Death Megaverse as you say. However, you could also increase my value in the Death Megaverse because of the grudge between us—"
Lu Yin cut the Lepidarch off. "If I raise your value, the Death Megaverse will just try to win you over. Even if you do not become an Abyssal, you will still be given a higher status than me. Why would I try to offend you?"
"I cannot verify anything that you say. I can only believe my own conclusions. So, you can die now." The Lepidarch's voice abruptly turned cold.
Lu Yin was caught off guard, and he instinctively wanted to rush through the gate. It was his only chance of survival. He just hoped that he would be able to endure one Bloomdance Transfer.
At that moment, a figure emerged from the gate and let out an extremely furious roar, "Who the hell hit me with a stone?"
A cyan light shot into the sky, accompanied by a formidable power that shot straight into the Aevum Inch.
Lu Yin stared at the figure from the gate in a daze. Fur... Furball?
He had not expected the gate to be connected to Furball’s territory.
The Lepidarch was shocked. This creature was a formidable powerhouse.
Furball fully emerged from the gate, their presence shaking the void and causing cyan hurricanes to sweep through the entire megaverse.
Lu Yin saw a giant with the form of a human. As soon as Furball stepped through the gate, they held up the entire sky. The first thing they saw was the Lepidarch.
The Lepidarch was far too conspicuous. It was right outside the megaverse, pressing down upon it.
Furball stared at the Lepidarch. Even though this was a two-law Immortal, Furball felt no fear, and they even shouted at the Lepid in a stern tone. "Where did you come from, Lepid? What are you trying to do?"
As they shouted, a giant table appeared, blocking the sky and expanding in the direction of the Lepidarch.
It was startled. "Who are you?"
Furball barked out an angry laugh. "You ask who I am in my own territory? Get lost!"
The Lepidarch grew uncertain. Is this one of the Death Megaverse’s Abyssals? No, it does not have any of that death power, and this creature only resonates with a single law. But why do I feel such power from it?
That skeleton from the Death Megaverse did everything possible to escape to this place. Was it just to draw this creature out? Is it protecting that skeleton from the Death Megaverse?
Lu Yin looked up. He had never before felt that Furball was so reliable. Their momentum was incredible.
Furball continued to shout insults at the Lepidarch. Since the latter’s realm surpassed the former’s, the Lepidarch immediately felt insulted.
While there was no communication between species in the Aevum Inch, creatures at their level could understand each other. The restrictions of their karmic chain created a barrier between all Immortal beings, preventing countless fights to the death.
However, the Lepidarch said nothing at all, and all Furball saw was a flower mark appear on their body. The Lepidarch had already attacked.
One flower, two flowers, three flowers, four flowers. The marks of four Butterfly Bloom directly appeared on Furball's body.
Only then did they discover that, in addition to the Lepidarch itself, there were four other Immortal Lepids.
Furball was horrified. Was this an entire civilization?
Meanwhile, the four flower marks on Lu Yin's body all disappeared. The Lepids were only able to target a single creature at a time with their Butterfly Bloom. As soon as they chose a new target, the flower mark would disappear from their previous target.
Lu Yin immediately heaved a sigh of relief as he looked up at Furball above the sky. At this moment, the green giant’s momentum had clearly weakened a bit. It’s up to you now.
Furball was a bit intimidated at this moment. It was facing an entire civilization, and the leader was especially impressive, being a two-law Immortal. Such a creature could not be weak. This can’t be a fishing civilization, can it?
Furball rarely visited this megaverse due to its close proximity to the Death Megaverse’s territory. Such an encounter in this place was completely unexpected.
Furball’s physical strength, consciousness, and vitality were all being absorbed. They had originally wanted to communicate a little and, at worst, soften the situation with a few words. However, the other side had already attacked, so they were left with no choice.
The giant dining table expanded greatly. Furball raised a hand to grab the Lepidarch. At least, this was what Lu Yin saw. The Lepids all saw something different when looking at Furball.
That did not matter.
What mattered was the enormous hand that fiercely grabbed at the Lepidarch and pulled on the void as if grabbing a curtain. Cyan divine energy surged forth. Furball was already attacking at their full strength. They did not underestimate the Lepidarch at all.
The four other Lepids did not attack. They merely used Butterfly Bloom to absorb Furball's power.
The Lepidarch flapped its wings, and a flurry of Myriad Metal Qi shot towards Furball in a fierce attack, only to be shattered by a single palm strike. With their other hand, Furball grabbed a large pot sitting on the dining table and delivered a crushing attack.
The giant dining table was Furball's world. It was exceptionally conspicuous for an Immortal’s world, and Furball used it to turn whatever they ate into delicacies.
In the past, Lu Yin had even seen Furball cook Mother Trees.
Furball had even wanted to capture Lu Yin’s true body and cook that. This time, the Lepidarch was being targeted.
Suddenly, Furball's movements hesitated. They were attacked through Bloomdance Transfer as all four Lepids took action, shaking Furball with their attacks. Meanwhile, on Lu Yin's body, the other three Butterfly Bloom marks disappeared.
The Lepidarch also attacked.
A flower mark appeared on Furball's chest. This one was clearly different from the other flower marks, and it brought about a sense of blooming.
This was the mark of the Lepidarch.
There was a bang, and Furball was sent retreating back multiple steps. They hurriedly grabbed the giant dining table, and cyan divine energy spread along it. Then, they raised a hand as a cyan sword appeared in it. It fell in a simple slash, and cyan light destroyed everything before it.
Myriad Metal Qi gathered in front of the Lepidarch, forming what looked like countless ropes that condensed further to form a meteor that shot towards the cyan sword light.
Cyan light illuminated the cosmos. Furball leaped up, leaving the megaverse while attacking the Lepidarch with their sword.
They used divine energy to resist the drain on their power from the flower marks. As the sword dropped, but before it struck, Furball retreated once again. They had been attacked by Bloomdance Transfer again. However, just a moment later, the sword turned back, and divine energy swept across the cosmos. The Lepidarch felt that this cyan energy was not in any way inferior to Stillness. Across the surface of its body, mountains, rivers, and the land split open and countless creatures wailed. Its main body froze the void, causing the void to condense into a Lepid. Within that condensed Lepid, another colorful Lepid appeared. It was the Lepidarch itself.
The Lepidarch had revealed itself to fight against Furball together with the other four Immortal Lepids.
Furball controlled themself with cyan divine energy while facing off against the Lepidarch.
The entire cosmos was shaking, and cyan light kept flashing.
Lu Yin knew that the Lepidarch had underestimated Furball. Although Furball was not a two-law Immortal, they were by no means weak. They had once crushed a Plume Immortal, and their status within Obscura was not low. Oddly enough, Furball possessed two different worlds, and their true name was Origin Lord. They consumed source power that all matter in the universe could be traced back to, and what Furball loved most was undoubtedly the Divine Tree’s source power.
In Lu Yin's view, while Furball was certainly arrogant, that did not mean that they were stupid. Not only that, but Furball was also about as strong as Hong Xia. This was the strongest one-law Immortal.
That was something acknowledged by Obscura.
Of course, that had been before Lu Yin’s breakthrough into the Immortal realm. With his breakthrough, he had usurped Furball’s title.
While Furball fought the Lepidarch Civilization across the cosmos, Lu Yin moved across the megaverse to Obscura's gate while calmly studying it.
He acted as if this was his first time seeing one of Obscura’s gates, and he stared at it silently.
From far away, Thousand Machinations was still observing everything. It had seen Furball appear, as well as the cyan light that had replaced the darkness of the Aevum Inch. The bear also watched as Lu Yin approached the gate.
The Abyssal stared at Lu Yin.
As a creature of the Death Megaverse, the skeleton was an enemy of Obscura. Thousand Machinations felt that it had been quite a clever move to use Obscura's gate to draw out Obscura’s Cyan to resolve this crisis, but how would he escape? If Lu Yin tried to leave, he would undoubtedly be noticed by either the Lepidarch or the Obscura member. If he did not leave, he would be found afterwards as soon as a victor was determined.
In fact, leaving through the gate was the best choice. Although there was no telling where it was connected to, passing through it would at least save his life.
But will you leave?
At this moment, Thousand Machinations was not observing Lu Yin as part of any test or probe, but rather because it was certain that Lu Yin would not leave. His Stillness was not able to support him for much longer, and if he passed through Obscura's gate without replenishing his Stillness, he would doom himself.
What the Abyssal cared about was whether the gate could be used to leave and then return.
Everything depended on Lu Yin’s choice.
