Chapter 4479: Turning The Body Into Karma
Chapter 4479: Turning The Body Into Karma
“Human, I remember you.” Death's Dominion stared in the direction of the Tianyuan and at Green Lotus.
The man met the skeleton’s gaze. “I remember you as well.”
“You are the one who escaped from right beneath my nose back then,” Death's Dominion continued.
Green Lotus looked grave. “This time, I will not run.”
Death's Dominion’s World of Death suddenly expanded, pressing up against the Heavenly Karmic Macrocosm.
Earlier, the Macrocosm had managed to force back the World of Death and the Divine King’s white light, but now that both powerhouses were releasing more strength, the Heavenly Karmic Macrocosm started compressing.
Tri-color divine energy boiled from Lu Yin’s body. His Karmic Dao connected to the Heavenly Karmic Macrocosm, and he looked at Green Lotus’s distant form. “Senior Green Lotus, I’m counting on you.”
Karma surged out. Lu Yin was able to borrow karma from the Heavenly Karmic Macrocosm, and Green Lotus could similarly borrow karma from Lu Yin’s Karmic Dao.
Lu Yin’s Karmic Dao had grown vast enough to make even Green Lotus take notice of it. Just how many powerhouses has Lu Yin thrown into his Champions' Stage Purgatory?
As the tremendous amount of karma surged in, the Greater Sancte spread both of his arms out, and his Heavenly Karmic Macrocosm explosively spread out again, forcing back both the World of Death and the Divine King’s white light. This was a fusion of the Heavenly Karmic Macrocosm and the Karmic Dao. Lu Yin did not hesitate at all as he poured all of his karma into the macrocosm for this desperate gamble.
If the Trio disappeared, what meaning would there be to his existence?
All along, it had always been others paving the way for him. This time, he would do it for Green Lotus.
Both Death's Dominion and the Divine King were astonished. Even the two of them together were unable to suppress the Heavenly Karmic Macrocosm at this moment.
“Skeleton, I lured you away back then. Now, we will fight to the death.” Green Lotus stepped forward. Karma fell, transforming into a Karmic Heavenwheel that pointed straight at Death's Dominion.
The giant skeleton raised a hand: Duality Seal.
Bang!
Karma and the power of Stillness collided. Endless bolts of black and white tore through the cosmos like lightning, exploding above the heads of countless beings.
Nan Ling suddenly teleported above Green Lotus, and multiple Godplume Spears shot down.
Suddenly, Lu Yin teleported there as well, and he reached out for Nan Ling.
The bird turned a Godplume Spear aside, stabbing it at Lu Yin. He teleported away to evade and then threw a Star Fist.
The Plume Immortal teleported aside as the punch was thrown, also dodging.
Both sides continuously evaded. Neither could touch the other.
At that moment, countless wails entered Lu Yin’s ears. He looked over at the Nine Odysseys Megaverse. The ever-shrinking cage had started tearing the bodies of countless people apart, transforming the land of the Nine Odysseys Megaverse into rivers of blood. Across the entire megaverse, sequence strings were snapping. If the cage continued to shrink, the Nine Odysseys Megaverse would inevitably be reset.
If Dan Jin had not continuously eliminated parallel universes from the megaverse, concocting them into pills, the Nine Odysseys Megaverse would not have had so few parallel universes, and it would already have reset from the damage that it had taken.
“Leave that one to me as well. Go deal with Ni Bieluo,” Green Lotus’s voice rang out.
Lu Yin’s gaze darkened. “Can you hold them both off?”
Green Lotus smiled faintly. “I’m not so easy to kill.”
Lu Yin vanished, teleporting away to reappear directly above the cage. He pressed a hand down, causing tri-color divine energy to spread along the cage. The divine energy spread endlessly in an attempt to completely envelop the cage.
Ni Bieluo did not care at all about Green Lotus’s sudden appearance. There was no one in the entire human civilization who could stop it. It only wanted to record Lu Yin and make him the fourth prong on its weapon.
This human was far too suitable. Given Ni Bieluo’s strength, it could easily record many Immortals as the fourth prong, but the fourth one was not so simple.
The trident already gave Ni Bieluo combat power approaching that of a three-law Immortal. If it could record a fourth prong, its strength would undergo a complete transformation, and it would truly achieve the combat power of a three-law Immortal, and it might even surpass that.
However, it was precisely because of that drastic transformation that Ni Bieluo had never been able to succeed. It was no different from how many would remain stuck at a bottleneck in their cultivation, unable to break through to the next realm.
It was only when it had encountered Lu Yin during the war against Obscura that Ni Bieluo had seen hope. If Immortals were too difficult to make into the fourth prong and that path could not lead to a breakthrough, then what about a non-Immortal?
It was not nearly as difficult to record a non-Immortal. Even if doing so would not result in a full breakthrough, it would still allow Ni Bieluo to advance a half step further toward that level. Not to mention, Lu Yin’s combat power was anything but ordinary. Whether it was his ability to teleport, his power of karma, or any of the other powers that he had cultivated, he was more than qualified to become the fourth prong of its weapon.
Such a perfect candidate was something that Ni Bieluo had never forgotten.
The reason why it had agreed to participate in the assault on the Human Trio was not only because of the Keeper of Balance’s conditions, but also because of Ni Bieluo’s own desires.
As for avenging Ni Ren or any others from the Mudwater Dominion, that had never even been considered or regarded as necessary.
As long as Ni Bieluo could record this human, its battle power would take a huge leap forward. It would become one of the most supreme beings in the Aevum Inch in a single bound. It had to record him.
Thinking of this, it watched as Lu Yin covered the cage with tri-color divine energy and then viciously stabbed the trident at him.
The trident teleported to stab at Lu Yin. Blood poured from his abdomen, and he suffered yet another severe injury, but fortunately, Extremes Must Be Reversed allowed him to endure.
He vanished again, teleporting away.
However, the trident teleported at the same time, continuing its pursuit of him.
Although Death's Dominion had been drawn away, the pressure on Lu Yin was not reduced by any means. On the contrary, because Ni Bieluo was now acting with its full power, every step took Lu Yin deeper into danger.
However, if Death's Dominion had not been drawn away, Lu Yin would have never stood a chance at all. Now, he at least had a chance to struggle.
The Trio clearly encompassed an enormous area, and yet this battle caused the three megaverses to jerk about like broken ships set adrift. They looked close to capsizing at any moment.
Green Lotus wanted to frighten Nan Ling away, but how could a Plume Immortal be driven off so easily? Even while knowing that the entire Plume Immortals race had gone back to sleep, it still did not retreat.
Humanity had to pay the price. This civilization was doomed.
In the Tianyuan, beneath the Cauldron and the Red Umbrella, Mister Mu and Chu Songyun exchanged glances, instantly understanding the others’ thoughts.
“This Divine King has been using us as bait all along, fishing in this war.”
“Otherwise, with its strength, there is no way we could have lasted until now.”
Mister Mu did not know whether to feel lucky or sorrowful. Humanity was bait. The Divine King wanted to fish, Death's Dominion wanted to fish, Hong Xia wanted to fish, Ni Bieluo wanted to fish, and above them all was Wang Wen with his calm, detached expression. He was the one fishing for everything.
It could be called fishing, but it could also be called balancing. This was what the Keeper of Balance truly was.
At last, Mister Mu understood the meaning of that title. Balance was Wang Wen’s method of fishing.
However, it was possible that only this kind of fishing method, one that placed humanity in a desperate situation where they were surrounded but every side was unwilling to go all out, that could give them a sliver of life.
If not for this balance, the Trio would have never been able to hold out for so long.
Boom!
Boom!
Boom!
Explosions rang out again and again, shaking the cosmos. Green Lotus repeatedly threw out palm strikes that collided with the Duality Seal.
Death's Dominion likewise kept throwing out blows with their skeletal palms.
Separated into battlefields centered on two megaverses, war continued without end, making both megaverses roar and tremble.
Dust fell from the Immemorial Citadel. Wilderness God had no choice but to return and seize the sequence strings once more. His efforts might look useless, but at least doing so made them a little tougher so that they would not snap so easily.
Just the shockwaves from any of these battles was enough to erase an entire megaverse.
In the Mirari Realm, the branch of the River of Aeons was boiling. Clashes that used the power of time occurred everywhere, stirring the branch of the River of Aeons into turbulence that was filled with whirlpools.
Zhao Ran was powerless to step onto a battlefield that involved Immortals, and she could only do her best to suppress the River of Aeons as much as possible. Without her efforts, if the main stream of the River of Aeons was drawn over, the one that would suffer would still be the Tianyuan.
In truth, humanity could not see any hope in this war. Lu Yin’s battered and miserable state crushed the faith of countless people. They saw that even he could be defeated.
In the end, he was still human, not a god.
Bang!
A huge explosion rang out. Green Lotus retreated several steps, his hand trembling. The void had been annihilated.
Outside the Nine Odysseys Megaverse, Death's Dominion also took one step back. They stared in shock at the human before them. This human had lived for far less than the giant skeleton, and yet he was able to confront the Duality Seal head-on. Humanity’s potential was truly terrifying.
The giant skeleton raised a hand yet again and unleashed the Duality Seal once more.
The bottom line of all forms of attack began and ended with the same premise: if they were effective, they were good enough.
Blood dripped down Green Lotus’s palm. He stepped forward again to continue his attack. No matter what, he would not retreat.
Nan Ling suddenly appeared behind him. One Godplume Spear after another fell like rain. This human might be able to block a Godplume Spear, but he still had to pay a price in order to do so. Now that the being from the Death Megaverse was confronting the human head-on, Nan Ling only needed to strike from the side to drive Green Lotus into a dead end.
In front of the Greater Sancte was the Duality Seal, and behind him was a storm of Godplume Spears.
These two deadly attacks closed in on him. He could not teleport. There was no way he could escape.
As the two waves of attack closed in...
Green Lotus raised his right hand and drew down a stream of karma. The entire Heavenly Karmic Macrocosm seemed to cave inward at a single point. As his arm turned, the Wheel of Karma rotated. “The karma I have comprehended begins with affinity, takes experience as its path, and ends in karmic deeds. Karma and causality are one. Where there is cause, there is effect. Where there is effect, there must be cause.”
As his words fell, both attacks arrived. Green Lotus’s body turned, and the Duality Seal seemed to spin out of control to suddenly shoot towards Nan Ling while the Plume Immortal’s Godplume Spears likewise seemed to lose control and shoot at Death's Dominion.
Seeing the Duality Seal coming, Nan Ling instinctively teleported away.
Death's Dominion was not so fortunate. Facing the rain of Godplume Spears, they could only receive them head-on.
The radiance of the World of Death, like a hanging curtain, was pierced by the Godplume Spears. The black plaza was turned over, and the Godplume Spears were allowed to strike it with a thunderous crash.
Even Death's Dominion could not ignore Nan Ling’s Godplume Spears. Nan Ling was also a two-law Immortal, and it had even been acknowledged by both the Plume Immortals and Obscura as someone who stood at the peak of resonating with two cosmic laws.
Throughout this battle, while Nan Ling was clearly inferior to Death's Dominion and the Divine King, it was not by much. Not only that, but because the bird could teleport, others also could not do much to it.
Inferior or not, it still could not be ignored.
What shocked Nan Ling the most was the method that Green Lotus had just used. How could this human make it lose control of the Godplume Spears?
Death's Dominion stared at Green Lotus with greater intensity. They had wanted to end this battle quickly and then compete with Ni Bieluo for Lu Yin. Of course, the giant skeleton had also hoped to use Bone Script to bring Green Lotus under the command of the Death Megaverse, but at this moment, their interest in Green Lotus was not one bit less than their interest in Lu Yin.
This human was very strong.
A murmur entered Green Lotus’s ears.
The Greater Sancte exhaled. Bone Script? He was already very familiar with it. Back when the Nine Odysseys Megaverse had suffered under the existence of the organization known as Stillness, he had publicly declared that he had been marked by the Death Megaverse and could not act. In truth, while he had indeed been marked, he had also taken advantage of that mark to study Bone Script. If he could not find a way to resist Bone Script, how could he ever face the Death Megaverse in the future?
The result of his studies was simply this: endure by force.
Yes, just endure Bone Script by force.
At its core, Bone Script was a method to strip life with the power of Stillness and then use that same Stillness as a medium to transfer life to a creature’s bones. Because the bones belonged to the same being, the process was smooth and did not face any obstruction.
To resist Bone Script, there were only two options. One had to either also wield the power of Stillness, preventing the power from stripping their life away, or one had to endure Bone Script with sheer force.
It was impossible for a weak creature to use Bone Script a single time to strip the life of a strong creature. That would be far too heaven-defying.
