Chapter 4475: Stay Alive
Chapter 4475: Stay Alive
Lu Yin hurriedly teleported over and caught Wang Xiaoyu.
Her eyes were vacant and unfocused. She simply stared blankly up at the sky, her face ashen. Despite her wan appearance, there was still a smile at the corner of her lips. She raised a hand, trying to grasp something.
As Wang Wen stepped through the gate to leave, he glanced back. “Anyone else can betray me, but a member of the Wang family cannot. I gave you your life, so I will be the one to take it away.”
With that, the gate vanished. Wang Wen had left together with Skydog and Wang Miaomiao.
Lu Yin held Wang Xiaoyu in his arms. When had Wang Wen taken action against her? He had not seen anything at all.
Master Qing Cao also arrived at Wang Xiaoyu’s side. He sorrowfully said, “Child.”
Wang Xiaoyu could no longer hear anything. Her world had lost all color. There was nothing left, only a gray sky, falling rain, and that solitary figure on the ground, soaked by the rain.
After being chased by him for so many years, she had finally been released.
Wang Xiaoyu raised her hand, as if trying to catch hold of that figure. Lu Yin hurriedly teleported, delivering her to Progenitor Chen.
The people of the Tianyuan could not see what was happening in the Nine Odysseys Megaverse, nor had they been connected to Master Qing Cao’s heart-gate, so Progenitor Chen had no idea what had happened.
Seeing Wang Xiaoyu in Lu Yin’s arms, the man’s pupils suddenly contracted, and he stared blankly.
“I’m sorry. I couldn’t protect her.” Lu Yin handed Wang Xiaoyu to Progenitor Chen.
He held her tightly without saying a word. He simply held her tighter.
Lu Yin looked up. It really had started to rain.
Progenitor Chen did not cry, and neither did Wang Xiaoyu, but the sky was weeping.
It was just like the day when they had first met; it had also been raining.
“Hey, don’t be ready to die just yet. I like the rain, so you can’t die in it. Remember, my name is Wang Xiaoyu.” That sweet voice had illuminated Xia Shang’s path.
Hu.
The megaverse shook. The Divine King had made its move.
Mister Mu and Chu Songyun hurriedly used their guardian artifacts to block the attack.
Given the Divine King’s strength, it could have killed everyone, but because it was wary of increasing its karmic chain, it did not strike with full force.
Death's Dominion could attack with full power, but Lu Yin had blocked him.
Lu Yin glanced at Progenitor Chen, who was silently holding Wang Xiaoyu and weeping. He then pulled Ba Rong over to have the fish temporarily hold off Nightflow God. Ancient God and Jiang Feng were already tied down by their own opponents.
Ba Rong trembled, feeling like catastrophe was about to fall at any moment. How could such a civilization possibly exist?
Lu Yin teleported back to the Nine Odysseys Megaverse and stared at Death's Dominion’s distant form. Come!
No matter who wanted to destroy the Human Trio, they would have to pay the price.
Black light, white light, and tri-color divine energy clashed with one another.
Lu Yin charged at Death's Dominion, releasing blasts of tri-color divine energy with savage force, crossing the cosmos with an upward strike.
Only a very short amount of time had passed since Death's Dominion had first attacked human civilization. After all, they had only exchanged a few blows before Wang Wen appeared, and yet Lu Yin’s human civilization had already lost two Immortals.
If their enemies did not have certain reservations, humanity’s Immortals would not have been able to stop the attackers at all.
In order to break the deadlock, Lu Yin first needed to defeat Death's Dominion. If the Divine King attacked with full strength, it alone would be enough to slaughter this entire human civilization.
That was not even considering the fact that the Death Megaverse still had other Immortals present.
As skeletons, both Ba Yue and Chen Jian obeyed the orders of the Death Megaverse and were already attacking the human civilization. They still possessed their own minds and thoughts, but that only heightened their torment, as they could not escape Death's Dominion’s control.
Their self-awareness merely allowed them to suppress their strength as much as possible. That made it so that Qing Xing and Dan Jin were able to fight against the two Immortal skeletons one on one. If not for that restraint, the two would have died long ago.
No matter how one looked at the situation, their human civilization was standing on the very edge of a cliff. Collapse at any solitary point would bring down the entire civilization.
Lu Yin was fighting with everything he had. Heaven’s Sight locked onto Death's Dominion as tri-color divine energy shot into the starry sky. The giant skeleton pressed down with a finger, making sure to not look at Lu Yin. The gigantic bone finger released a surge of Stillness that collided with the tri-color divine energy with a thunderous roar.
The tri-color divine energy was forced down.
Lu Yin had once overpowered experts like Ni Ren and Ming Yu with tri-color divine energy, but against Death's Dominion, he enjoyed no advantage at all.
He threw a punch: Star Fist.
Death's Dominion spread their five fingers apart, grasping downwards at Lu Yin.
The Star Fist was caught by the skeletal hand, and although it forced Death's Dominion to pause for an instant, the punch’s force was erased by the overwhelming amount of Stillness.
Lu Yin panted heavily. From within his inner universe, the Cosmic Art activated, and stars of Stillness spun wildly. Devour the power of Stillness for me.
His scythe’s Activeness had already been transformed into Stillness by Extremes Must Be Reversed, which was how Lu Yin had managed to resist Death's Dominion’s World of Death and the Divine King’s cosmic law. If Lu Yin wanted to increase the amount of Stillness that he possessed, his only option was to devour more.
However, his devouring had no effect. The Stillness was under Death's Dominion’s absolute control, and it descended like apocalyptic dark clouds. Behind those clouds was the gigantic skeletal hand. “Human, you should be proud that the Keeper of Balance plotted against you so thoroughly. Come with me, and I will grant you new life.”
Lu Yin looked up. The golden light of his Investiture of the Gods drove the darkness back, only to be quickly swallowed once again. Tri-Azure Sword Intent: Hidden Blade. A river of sword intent slashed at the skeletal hand, only to be crushed in a single grasp. Hidden within the river, a Dao Sword struck.
The skeletal hand was forced to pause once more, and high above, a portion of Stillness abruptly vanished.
Seizing the sudden opportunity, Lu Yin teleported directly in front of Death's Dominion. Unleashing the Star Fist with his right hand and tri-color divine energy with his left, he attacked.
Facing the two powerful attacks, Death's Dominion raised their other arm before their face. From the center of one hand, black and white crossed in alternating lines. “Duality Seal.”
With a thunderous bang, Lu Yin was sent flying by the palm strike. Both his Star Fist and the tri-color divine energy were shattered by that single blow.
He coughed up blood, his face turning deathly pale. He stared up at Death's Dominion in shock.
The gap between them was too vast. He simply could not win. There was no way for him to win.
Death's Dominion’s skeletal hand descended again, and black and white lines formed and crossed over the palm. The Duality Seal pressed down upon Lu Yin.
The terrifying pressure drove even his tri-color divine energy away, allowing the World of Death to engulf more people. The eyes of all who were swallowed by the World of Death grew vacant, and they started walking toward death.
Their bones ripped free of their flesh, and white skeletons began dancing and cheering.
Lu Yin saw it. This is... the Afterdeath Waltz?
Back when he had first encountered a mud doll from the Mudwater Dominion, Lu Yin had obtained the records of a certain civilization and had seen the memories of that civilization’s creatures. Those memories had recorded one of humanity’s most tragic scenes.
The knees of countless people had been shattered. They wanted to approach someone who had fallen in battle, but the only way to reach him was to crawl forward on their knees. There had been no other choice.
Between those people and their goal lay a line of death, a chasm. Countless people had thrown themselves forward, one after another, using their lives to fill that abyss so that those behind them could crawl across it.
They had filled it, and some had managed to crawl across, but all who succeeded were transformed into living skeletons. The more that crossed, the more skeletons there were, and those skeletons danced around the fallen warrior in joy. That was the Afterdeath Waltz.
That scene appeared once again. One human skeleton after another was cheering, dancing, and reveling.
What were they happy about? The arrival of the Death Megaverse?
Above Lu Yin, the Duality Seal descended, shattering the void.
Lu Yin vanished. He appeared in front of the dancing skeletons and stared at them.
They were dancing, yet their faces were twisted. Despite only being skeletons, their expressions were somehow twisted with anguish. Though they appeared joyful, they were experiencing the most extreme grief.
They could not speak. They could only cheer. If they had flesh and blood, they would have been crying, wailing, and screaming in despair.
They were human, and yet they were forced to cheer for the Death Megaverse.
Lu Yin clenched both fists. Unequaled fury and killing intent flooded his mind. His eyes turned blood-red as he turned to stare at Death's Dominion. “You deserve to die.”
In the distance, Master Qing Cao and the others were fighting against the Death Megaverse’s Immortal skeletons, so they also saw this scene.
Qing Cao felt utterly helpless. So what if he had successfully trapped Wang Wen? He had already done everything he could, but no one had foreseen this desperate situation. This was just like when the Nine Ramparts had faced doom, besieged by countless civilizations.
Even the mighty Nine Ramparts had been destroyed. The Human Trio was now meeting the same fate.
Yet true despair had only just arrived. A bridge stretched in from an unseen distant place and spanned the Trio.
Lu Yin’s blood-red eyes stared at that bridge. It looked so familiar. Is that... Ni Bieluo’s bridge?
Master Qing Cao saw the bridge and froze. Impossible. How is this even possible?
He had also been present for the war against the Mudwater Dominion and had thus seen this bridge before. He could not believe his eyes; Wang Wen had actually brought even the Mudwater Dominion here to move against the Human Trio.
How many hidden moves were still awaiting them?
Wang Wen intended to completely eradicate this human civilization in a single stroke.
In the Tianyuan, Wei Rong silently watched from within the Heavens Sect. He saw the bridge, but he did not know what it was. All he knew was that humanity’s end was nigh.
This was Wang Wen. When it came to understanding that man, no one surpassed Wei Rong. He had put himself against Wang Wen in a contest to control the Outerverse and lost. Later, they had both served Lu Yin.
While they were both clever strategists, Wei Rong specialized in schemes concerning specific situations and battles whereas Wang Wen excelled in grand strategic schemes, and he focused only on that.
If Wang Wen had taken action, how could he possibly leave humanity any path to survive?
Was it all truly over?
Ni Bieluo slowly appeared on the bridge. Its terrifying aura was enough to cause even Death's Dominion and the Divine King to grow wary.
Ni Bieluo had recorded three Immortals into a single civilizational weapon, which made him a true expert capable of contending with a three-law Immortal.
He was also Wang Wen’s true means of dealing with Lu Yin. Among the three prongs of Ni Bieluo’s trident, one had recorded a Plume Immortal, which allowed its bridges to connect across endless distances. This was an ability that could truly counter teleportation.
***
Skydog slowly walked along through the emptiness of the Aevum Inch. On the dog’s back, Wang Wen’s expression remained calm. They had traveled far enough. The deaths of those people would not be placed upon his head.
If he stayed too near to the Trio, then all of those people’s deaths would be attributed to him, which would be a loss.
However, if they believed that forcing him to leave would open up a path to survival, they were being far too naive. Your Royal Chesspiece, you should understand me. Who could possibly break my schemes? That includes even you yourself. Teleportation is not omnipotent.
At this moment, a tiny gate appeared at his side. “Time is limited. If the Trio is not destroyed within this period, they will be able to seek aid from Vestigium through a gate. Are you certain that you can succeed?”
Wang Wen answered with confidence, “Of course.”
“My gate can stop most of Obscura’s reinforcements, but there is one that I cannot stop.”
“Then let us see if they will go.”
***
Ni Bieluo’s arrival brought true despair to humanity. Lu Yin felt utterly powerless. He could not even deal with Death's Dominion, let alone Ni Bieluo.
Ni Bieluo was a supreme expert that even Obscura took seriously.
“Lu Yin, even if we die, you must leave. Remember this; stay alive!” Master Qing Cao’s voice reached Lu Yin’s ears.
Blood Tower also sent a voice transmission, “Lu Yin, stay alive.”
“Stay alive,” Awe Gate demanded in a low voice.
Ku Deng looked at Lu Yin from afar. “Stay alive.”
