Chapter 4467: The Abyssal Displacement

Chapter 4467: The Abyssal Displacement

At this moment, both Fishbone and Zhou were staring at Zhu without saying a word.

Although the Keeper of Balance was not exerting any especially obvious pressure, Lu Yin had heard Withered Requiem’s wariness, and the other two skeletons could hear it even more clearly.

Especially Zhou. They knew that, if their claw had fallen just now, something bad would have happened. At that moment, it was like they were facing Withered Requiem’s Cosmic Erasure all over again.

Both skeletons had believed that Zhu was only present to fill in a spot in the band; who would have expected him to be carrying such a huge secret?

Zhu was completely unremarkable in the band. His musical talent was ordinary, and he did not talk, staying very quiet. In Fishbone’s eyes, Zhu was a very good member, unlike Yong Heng, whose musical talent was unbelievably bad.

Yet it was precisely their filler member who had suddenly brought out something so big.

Zhu himself had not expected Obscura to have carved a gate onto his body.

“Did you know?” Zhu stared at Yong Heng.

Yong Heng replied, “Of course not.”

“Impossible. You stopped me from seeing Withered Requiem before. How could you not know?” Zhu did not believe him.

Yong Heng casually replied, “I stopped you for my own sake. Looking across Joy City, almost all of the creatures here are skeletons, which means that this city has no interest in someone like me. Here, I have no chance to stand out. I can only wait. Your information cannot be given to Withered Requiem. It has to be given to someone who will benefit me.”

The reason did make some sense. It was certainly Yong Heng’s style of doing things. Lu Yin believed it, and Zhu had no way to deny it.

“Enough. Let’s keep rehearsing,” Fishbone cut in, only to then shoot Zhu a wary glance. “Hey, you don’t have anything else on you, right? Tell us now.”

Zhu answered in a low voice, “I truly do not know.”

“I suggest we kick him out.” Fishbone looked over at Lu Yin.

Zhou also spoke, which was quite rare. “I agree.”

At first, Lu Yin did not particularly care. With the Keeper of Balance’s arrival, the location of the Human Trio was bound to be exposed. Whether Zhu and Yong Heng met with Withered Requiem or not no longer mattered. But then, Lu Yin reconsidered. If Zhu still had another gate carved onto him, then keeping them nearby would allow Lu Yin to see what the Keeper of Balance intended to do as early as possible.

The Keeper of Balance could never guess that Lu Yin was watching Zhu through a skeleton clone, so Lu Yin refused. “Never abandon, never give up.”

Fishbone muttered, “I hate those words.”

No one knew what the Keeper of Balance said to Withered Requiem, but Joy City continued moving in the same direction as before. It did not turn.

This did not allow Lu Yin to relax. Since the Keeper of Balance had taken action, there was no way that things would end so simply.

Several more decades passed, and then Joy City suddenly stopped.

Lu Yin stood up, his mood heavy. Something had changed.

Withered Requiem’s voice spread across Joy City. “Yo yo, all creatures are to fall asleep immediately.”

Uneasy, Lu Yin looked at Fishbone and Zhou. “What’s happening?”

Zhou replied, “It should be the Abyssal Displacement.”

“The Abyssal Displacement?” Lu Yin was puzzled. He had Possessed many skeletons before, but he had never seen any memories related to this.

Yong Heng also approached, equally puzzled.

Zhou explained, “The Abyssal Displacement can transfer power between the Death Megaverse’s seven Abysses within a certain range, though that range is enormous. If the Abyssal Displacement is being used, it means that Joy City will either send some of its fighting power away or receive fighting power from the other Abysses.”

Lu Yin’s mood grew even heavier. So there really would be a big change. This meant that the hundreds of years of travel had actually been for the sake of entering the range of the Abyssal Displacement.

The only thing that remained unknown was the purpose of this Abyssal Displacement. Was it for the Divine Realm or humanity?

“Go to sleep. The Abyssal Displacement is not simple. We ourselves need to be used as carriers to draw out the power of Stillness from the deepest parts of Joy City, gathering it in the castle. Then, Withered Requiem will use it to connect to the other Abysses.” After speaking, Zhou lay down.

Fishbone dropped straight into the river with a splash, and Zhu also laid down.

Lu Yin instinctively exchanged a glance with Yong Heng, and the two laid down some distance away.

There were about 400 years left before Obscura’s protection period for the Trio expired. Time was running out.

Atop the castle, the Death Band began to play. The thunderous music formed a terrifying pressure wave that was visible to the naked eye. It tore apart space in the surrounding area.

Withered Requiem lifted their sunglasses and, accompanied by the music, began to sing a song that Lu Yin had never heard before. The song stirred the Stillness within his skeleton while also drawing upon the vast amount of Stillness that lay hidden underground.

Lu Yin had never expected such an immense amount of Stillness to be hidden beneath Joy City. This power of Stillness surpassed everything that he had ever known, including the Stillness that Withered Requiem had used to fight against the Divine King.

As the music exploded, the Stillness gathered in one direction in outer space, directed by Withered Requiem’s singing. It then vanished in an instant, reaching out across some immeasurable distance.

At that moment, Lu Yin lay still. It felt as if some monster hidden beneath the earth was breathing. That was what it felt like when the massive amount of Stillness was stirred.

Endless Stillness flowed through his bones and the bodies of all of the skeletons present before merging with Withered Requiem’s song.

Lu Yin was just one among countless skeletons.

They had been told to sleep, but Lu Yin did not fall asleep at all. The other skeletons might be able to sleep upon receiving Withered Requiem’s command, but he could not.

Feeling the vast Stillness coursing through his body, Lu Yin kept suppressing the urge to devour it all. The feeling grew, only to be suppressed again and again. He feared that touching this power would draw Withered Requiem’s notice.

But in the end, Lu Yin failed to suppress his urge.

The power of Stillness continuously poured into the stars that were etched on his bones like a galaxy. To outsiders, the stars looked like tiny dots, but each one kept spinning, frantically devouring the power of Stillness that passed through him.

At first, Lu Yin managed to hold himself back somewhat, but after devouring Stillness for a while, he realized that what he was doing had no effect at all on Withered Requiem. With that, he grew more and more unrestrained. Every star on his bones was spinning; every star was devouring Stillness.

He was gathering power even faster than when his true body had devoured the Stillness of that Immortal skeleton. He could not even imagine how immense the Stillness hidden beneath Joy City was, nor where it could have come from.

This Stillness far surpassed Withered Requiem, and they were a peak two-law Immortal.

Lu Yin completely let go of all restraint as he devoured the Stillness, but nothing he did had an effect on Withered Requiem. That continued until he noticed that nearby, Stillness was also decreasing. Something was wrong. Someone else was also devouring Stillness. In that direction was... Yong Heng?

After a while, Withered Requiem was finally affected. Their gaze swept the land outside of the castle. “Yo yo, why is the Stillness being consumed so quickly? You three, go too.”

The other three members of the Death Band all lay down as well to help Withered Requiem guide the Stillness out from beneath the ground.

In the darkness of outer space, the Stillness continued to spread. It started from Joy City and extended far into the distance. Even with Lu Yin’s Mirrorlight Art, he could not see where it ended. The range of this Abyssal Displacement far exceeded his imagination.

Throughout the Aevum Inch, in one direction after another, Stillness was reaching for a certain point. If the Aevum Inch were continuously shrunk down, one would discover that all of these extending streams of Stillness were ultimately converging upon a single point. That was the true Death Megaverse.

With the Death Megaverse as the core, the seven Abysses carried out the Abyssal Displacement. This was a method that spanned an immeasurable distance to a degree that even Immortals would find difficult to comprehend.

On the ground of Joy City, Lu Yin did not dare to move, yet he could sense that, in Yong Heng’s direction, Stillness was still being devoured.

Yong Heng truly could not be underestimated. Lu Yin could devour Stillness, but so could Yong Heng. He seemed to possess no fewer methods than Lu Yin, and the speed at which he devoured Stillness was shocking.

Lu Yin grew worried that they would be noticed by Withered Requiem. If that happened, things would become troublesome.

Fortunately, everything remained normal. Although the Death Band’s music had stopped, Withered Requiem themself was still singing, so the Abyssal Displacement would not be affected.

Lu Yin actually hoped that the Abyssal Displacement would be disrupted, but such hopes were useless. If it failed once, they would simply try it again. He might be able to interrupt things once, but there was no way he could stop it a second time.

Time passed slowly. Lu Yin devoured more and more Stillness. On his bones, the stars of Stillness did not grow larger, but they did become far more numerous, until they almost completely covered his entire skeleton.

Suddenly, Joy City trembled. Withered Requiem’s singing stopped. They peered into the distance. It was done.

The Abyssal Displacement formed by connecting the seven Abysses to the Death Megaverse had succeeded. Come. At last, it’s time to find them.

Bang!

Bang!

Bang!

One thunderous crash after another rang out, as if something were smashing down upon the ground. Almost all the skeletons were asleep, but Lu Yin could see everything clearly. Less than 100 meters away from him, a mass of white magma fell from the sky and slowly flowed into the river.

That white magma was a fragment of the Soft Megaverse creature.

Could all of those impacts have come from other fragments of it?

Probably not. The Abyssal Displacement could not possibly have only brought fragments of the Soft Megaverse creature. There had to be powerhouses from other Abysses as well.

With a sharp smack, countless skeletons awoke.

The roar of music quickly rang out once more, and everything returned to normal. The only change was that, outside the castle of Joy City, there was now a group of creatures that had never been seen before: some skeletal, and some flesh-and-blood.

Lu Yin stood up and immediately looked up at the sky.

Joy City started to move. It was moving in a different direction. Its course had changed.

However, it was not headed towards the Human Trio.

Lu Yin let out a breath. The target isn’t the Trio?

A short distance away, Yong Heng slowly stood up, and the first creature that he looked at was Lu Yin.

Lu Yin averted his gaze after instinctively looking at Yong Heng as well. Neither said anything, though both knew what the other had done.

“What the hell was that? It scared this fish to death.” Fishbone jumped out of the water, and not far from it, white magma slowly flowed.

Zhou looked over. “It is one of Trace’s fragments.”

“Trace? That Trace? One of the seven Abyssals? The Trace who holds the same status as Lord Withered Requiem?” Fishbone cried out in alarm.

Zhou nodded.

The fragment of the Soft Megaverse creature flowed with the water in the river off into the distance.

Lu Yin proposed, “Let’s go take a look around. It seems that we have gained quite a few new friends now. Let’s hope that we don’t run into any powerful rivals who also want to enter the castle.”

Fishbone agreed, “Fine. If there really are more powerful rivals, we will challenge them first. The castle is only so big. The more bands that go in, the fewer chances there will be for bands to show up later on. But...” It hesitated as it looked at Yong Heng. “What do we do if this guy keeps dragging us down?”

Lu Yin’s problem was no longer considered serious. The most serious problem for the band at the moment was Yong Heng.

Yong Heng sounded very sincere as he said, “I will work hard.”

After saying that, he smiled at Lu Yin.

***

The Abyssal Displacement had brought a group of Death Megaverse experts to Joy City, and it was not headed towards the Trio, which allowed Lu Yin to breathe easier. At the same time, he wanted to see just how many experts there were.

What he did not know was that, elsewhere in the Aevum Inch, a massive black plaza had appeared in the region of the Human Trio. Countless skeletons stood on that plaza, their numbers stretching out endlessly. That plaza was being held by a skeletal hand like it was a toy. That hand belonged to an incomparably gigantic skeleton that stood in the Aevum Inch. It started to walk towards the Trio, step by step. Every step covered an immeasurable distance.
