Chapter 4460: Devouring

Chapter 4460: Devouring

When Lu Yin had spent time repeatedly Possessing multiple skeletons outside of the castle in Joy City, he had learned that there was another Immortal outside the castle, though he could not see them fighting anywhere. Were they still in Joy City?

From his current position, Lu Yin focused on the Immortal outside the castle, the one that looked like a great mountain of bones. It was also fighting against two Divine Realm Immortals, though they were only pseudo-Immortals.

Their battlefield was also the farthest away from Withered Requiem and the Divine King, which meant that it was least likely to be noticed.

Lu Yin vanished, teleporting away.

Far away, the great mountain of bones kept attacking in all directions. The void warped endlessly, creating one strange shape after another. This was its unique world.

To its left and right, two masses of light were continuously unleashing attacks formed from motes of light. The pseudo-Immortals had also unleashed their own worlds to contend with the mountain of bones’.

Suddenly, a streak of black flashed by, moving from one mass of light to the other. As it passed by, it pierced right through the mountain of bones. It flickered just once, but both masses of light quickly dimmed. The next instant, a black figure appeared before the mountain of bones.

The mountain of bones had just been pierced through and had not yet recovered its senses when it was seized by an overwhelming power. It vanished, not even able to try to resist.

Three Immortals had been fighting against each other, but in an instant, two were dead and one had vanished. In addition, no one else had noticed because the disturbance created by the attack had been far too small.

Far away, the mountain of bones was only released after Lu Yin teleported away twice. It stared ahead in horror at a being that overflowed with the power of Stillness. This was the same being that had captured it in an instant. This was a supreme powerhouse.

Lu Yin stared at the mountain of bones and then suddenly struck out with a palm. The mountain of bones tried to counterattack, but its bones shattered, inch by inch. Lu Yin then dove into it again. While inside its body, Lu Yin seized a massive white bone, and right after that, Stillness flowed down his arm and into the star of Stillness within his inner universe.

The star of Stillness began to rotate, continuously absorbing Stillness from the mountain of bones.

This Stillness came from Withered Requiem, as they had been the one to use Stillness and Bone Script to grant life to this mountain of bones. But at this moment, all of that Stillness was entering Lu Yin’s star of Stillness.

“Who... are... you?” The mountain of bones made its final sound.

With a bang, it shattered.

Lu Yin casually waved a hand, reducing the bone fragments to ash. He had not even bothered throwing the Immortal into the Champions' Stage Purgatory because this mountain of bones had been granted life through Bone Script. There was no telling if Withered Requiem might be able to sense it if Lu Yin touched it with karma.

He was already taking a risk just by attacking.

He vanished, teleporting away again. He teleported again and again without pause, moving in a different direction each time.

In the end, he stopped far away from the opposite side of the battlefield.

He had instantly killed two of the Divine Realm’s pseudo-Immortals with the power of Stillness. Only by using Stillness could he avoid drawing the attention of Withered Requiem and the Divine Realm’s Divine King, because Stillness had permeated the entire battlefield. As long as Lu Yin controlled his power carefully, it would not stand out.

Also, by absorbing the power of Stillness from the mountain of bones, he had caused his inner star of Stillness to grow twice as large.

Lu Yin looked down at his hands and then up again, staring off into space. Just as he guessed, he could absorb the power of Stillness, devour it, and use it to grow stronger, just as he had absorbed the power of Stillness from the megaverse that had been reset by the Death Megaverse.

Creatures of the Death Megaverse were all resources that could strengthen Lu Yin’s own power of Stillness.

What an interesting power this was.

Joy City had lost one Immortal while the Divine Realm Civilization had lost two pseudo-Immortals. Because everything had happened so quickly, no one had noticed yet. Lu Yin had a chance to do something more.

Should he kill a few more Immortals?

No. If he struck again, it would be too easy for him to be noticed, unless he avoided attacking the Death Megaverse’s Immortals and instead only killed the Divine Realm’s pseudo-Immortals of the Divine Realm Civilization.

Right. He suddenly thought of something and peered far into the distance, at one of the Divine Realm’s megaverses.

With its native megaverse at the center, the Divine Realm had expanded out in every direction, conquering one civilization after another and forcing those civilizations to exist in accordance with the laws of the Divine Realm’s own Immortals. The sole exception was the direction of the Trio.

This meant that there were quite a number of cosmic civilizations under the Divine Realm, which meant that they had quite a few Mother Trees as well.

However, Lu Yin was not thinking about those megaverses’ Mother Trees at this moment, but rather the Mother Tree of the Divine Realm’s original megaverse.

The Divine Realm also had a Mother Tree, and it was far larger than the Mother Trees of ordinary megaverses. While it was nowhere near the size of Obscura’s Divine Tree or the Plume Immortals’ great tree, it was still massive. If Lu Yin could absorb the motes of green light from this Mother Tree, he should be able to obtain Crow Reversal.

With this thought, Lu Yin's eyes started to burn with a sudden heat, and he vanished with a teleport.

The Divine King was in the middle of fighting with Withered Requiem, so even if the Divine Realm Civilization still had powerful defenders remaining, they might not be able to stop Lu Yin.

He teleported again and again, and very soon, he saw the Divine Realm’s megaverse in the far distance.

If Joy City and the Divine Realm were not at war with each other, Lu Yin would have never come this close. It would have been far too easy for him to be noticed. After all, the Divine Realm was also a fishing civilization.

But at this moment, things were different.

According to the information that he had received from Obscura, the Divine King was the only being from the Divine Realm who was capable of posing a mortal threat to Lu Yin. There was also a two-law Immortal known as the Divine Queen, but she had only recently broken through and was not capable of threatening Lu Yin’s life.

The current guardian of the Divine Realm’s megaverse at this moment should be the Divine Queen.

There was no need for a direct fight against her. Although the Divine Queen had only recently broken through to resonate with two cosmic laws, who knew which cosmic laws those actually were? Some laws were baffling and extremely difficult to deal with.

Since that was the case, Lu Yin would simply lure her away. He thought for a moment and then took out the red floating coffin. He drew a gate on the lid, threw out a palm strike, and sent the gate far away. At the same time, a wave of his hand sent power slicing through the cosmos, splitting space and the void in two to create a tremendous disturbance.

The disturbance drew the attention of both the creatures of the Divine Realm and various skeletons. Since the disturbance had occurred so close to the Divine Realm’s native megaverse, it naturally alarmed all the creatures within that megaverse as well.

A mass of light that was perched atop the Mother Tree looked into the distance, terribly alarmed. “Obscura?”

It hurriedly rushed out, and one mote of light after another formed meteors that shot into the distance.

Seizing the opportunity, Lu Yin teleported into the Divine Realm’s megaverse, arriving atop the Mother Tree. He drew a deep breath, and the star of Stillness spun wildly. He raised a hand that held his scythe before slashing it down.

The power of Stillness ran along the blade of the scythe as it chopped straight through the Mother Tree, cleaved the enormous tree in two, and shook the entire megaverse.

Far away, the luminous Divine Queen had just been warning the Divine King that someone from Obscura had appeared. The moment their Mother Tree was severed, she whipped back around. Not good!

She had been tricked. She hurriedly rushed back to their megaverse.

A mass of light charged out from the Divine Realm’s megaverse. It was another pseudo-Immortal, and it had been stationed at the very base of the Mother Tree. At this moment, it was attacking Lu Yin.

He paid no attention whatsoever to the pseudo-Immortal’s attacks. His eyes remained locked on the distant Divine Queen.

As she drew closer and closer, Lu Yin suddenly vanished, leaving completely.

The pseudo-Immortal’s attack missed entirely. Shortly after that, the Divine Queen descended, and she looked at the Mother Tree that had been split in two, utterly furious. She saw the trail of Stillness that Lu Yin had left behind as he fled. How had the creature managed to escape so quickly? How had he done it?

The power of Stillness was far too obvious. She wanted desperately to chase after the attacker and kill him, but she had to remain where she was, protecting the megaverse.

Besides, she had already warned the Divine King. Obscura’s sudden appearance was even more dangerous than those skeletons. Anything could be lost, but the Divine King absolutely could not be defeated.

Lu Yin teleported far away from the Divine Realm’s primary megaverse and waited for some time. He watched as the battle between the Divine King and Withered Requiem grew more and more intense. He even saw the music of slaughter fill the cosmos and understood that Withered Requiem had started fighting in earnest. The outcome of their battle would soon be decided, which meant that Lu Yin could not wait any longer.

One teleport brought him back inside the Divine Realm’s megaverse. He concealed his aura as he placed a hand on the severed Mother Tree and proceeded to absorb the motes of green light.

This was the true moment for him to absorb the green lights.

He teleported in at the moment that the Divine Queen's attention was focused on the Divine King’s decisive battle with Withered Requiem. She did not notice that Lu Yin was absorbing the green motes of light. After all, Lu Yin did not need to use any power to absorb those green motes of light, which meant that doing so would not attract notice.

At the Plume Immortals’ great tree, not even Shang Jing had noticed Lu Yin absorbing the motes of green light. Otherwise, Lu Yin would have never had a chance to absorb them. At most, Shang Jing merely sensed that the Plume Immortals’ main tree had somehow changed.

So far, Lu Yin was the only being he knew of who could see the motes of green light. No one else could sense them at all.

Beneath the Mother Tree, Lu Yin felt the vast quantity of green lights pouring into his body. As expected, there were far more here than in an ordinary Mother Tree. After this, he would definitely be able to obtain Crow Reversal.

He quickly finished absorbing the green lights and then immediately teleported away. Looking back across the battlefield, he had initially wanted to enter Joy City's castle to search around and see if he could find any black plates of armor, only to have his heart suddenly skip a beat. The Divine King was fighting desperately at this moment, and Lu Yin had no choice but to leave.

He then quickly rolled his die to Possess a skeleton from Joy City to observe the battle.

Upon succeeding, he looked up from and saw countless skeletons falling from the sky like rain, smashing into Joy City.

Joy City was moving back in the direction from which it had come. The thunderous music was still deafening, and outside, a blinding mass of light could be seen. It was clearly the Divine King.

Memories flooded in. Just moments earlier, Withered Requiem had been defeated. Even one of its sunglasses’ lenses had been shattered, and their bright green hat was also missing. The giant skeleton looked rather miserable. With their defeat, Joy City began to retreat.

The skeleton that Lu Yin Possessed had been among the first to return to Joy City. Many more skeletons had been left behind, failing to return in time. They were certainly doomed.

Not far away, Zhou was lying on the ground, its body broken in several places. This battle had not been easy.

Joy City sped into the distance as fast as possible. Although it looked like a miserable retreat, Withered Requiem did not show even the slightest hint of dejection from being defeated. Instead, they were singing excitedly. The band stood atop the castle, twisting their bodies in the direction of the Divine King in an openly provocative display.

The Divine King remained in outer space, not pursuing. Around it, one Immortal after another appeared, as well as various pseudo-Immortals. They all watched as Joy City fled into the distance, none giving chase.

This battle had started for no readily apparent reason, and the Divine Realm had suffered enormous losses. Even its Mother Tree had been cut down.

Not only that, but someone from Obscura had also appeared in the shadows.

That was why the Divine King had not pursued the skeletons. Compared to Joy City, it was far warier of Obscura, and its battle with Withered Requiem had not been easy. It had only managed to defeat Withered Requiem by fighting desperately.

If the Divine Realm insisted on fighting Joy City to the death, the result would be the destruction of Joy City, but the Divine Realm would also be pushed to the brink of collapse. There would be very little left, and in such a state, it would not be capable of resisting Obscura.

“Lord Divine King, pursuing them would put us at a disadvantage. Our losses are already too severe. Earlier, Herald God perished together with the enemy, and now Eminence God and Return God are missing. Their chances are probably grim. We cannot keep fighting.” One of the Immortals anxiously urged the Divine King, afraid that it would be unable to endure such provocation and would ultimately decide to pursue the attackers.

The Divine King spoke in a low voice, “Nightflow God, why did Obscura appear?”

Nightflow God answered respectfully, “This subordinate does not know.”

“Obscura was definitely here.”

“This subordinate truly does not know.”

“Are you not on very good terms with someone from Obscura? Ask them for me. I want to know why Obscura appeared at this time, what relationship this civilization has with Obscura, and if you sent Bestowal God in that direction because of Obscura. Just what are you trying to do?”

Nightflow God was greatly alarmed, and its light grew dim. “No matter what this subordinate does, my heart is always with our civilization. I ask Lord Divine King to see that clearly.”
