Chapter 4391: Consequences
Chapter 4391: Consequences
Lu Yin felt his inner universe being affected by something, so he hurriedly withdrew it. This was Chang Dao’s world. It was finally using it.
Whether it was Ni Ren, Ming Yu, or Chang Dou, all of them had only truly revealed their trump cards after being pushed to a certain point. As long as the Plume Immortal did not use its trump cards, nothing from Lu Yin could truly defeat it. He had also been waiting for this moment. He just did not know what kind of ability Chang Dou's world might have.
In the distance, Si Qin's eyes flickered. Chang Dou was going all out. Si Qin had never expected Chang Dou to need to unleash its full strength to deal with a mere Aberrant.
Si Qing’s eyes swept around, but it did not rush to seize the Crimson Lotus Tomb. If this human civilization really did have a hidden master who was capable of doing something like moving a megaverse, Si Qin would have a hard time leaving as well. It had to think of a way to escape.
In fact, even if there was a hidden powerhouse, they must not be able to casually take action. If they could, that human would have never sealed himself away with Nan Ling. Perhaps, like Ancestor Shang Jing, this being was no longer able to act.
Mister Mu and the others remained on guard against Si Qin while peering into the distance. The life-and-death struggle playing out inside the Consciousness Megaverse caused their hearts to pound. Si Qin was confident in Chang Dou, while the others were confident in Lu Yin.
He had to win.
In truth, they could rush into the Consciousness Megaverse at this moment to help, but Si Qin was still present. Besides that, the only one who could truly help Lu Yin was Mister Mu. The combination of having directly broken through to the Immortal realm and his mirebound artifact meant that only he could hope to cause any harm to Chang Dou. However, the moment that Mister Mu left, the Crimson Lotus Tomb would undoubtedly be snatched by Si Qin. He could not leave.
Everything could only be left to Lu Yin alone.
The void split apart, spatial cracks scattering like falling rain. From time to time, lightning shot through, illuminating both Lu Yin and Chang Dou's figures.
Lu Yin slowly retreated. The invisible pressure made him wary.
Chang Dou was already using its full strength. That meant that Lu Yin was currently facing a true two-law Immortal from a genuine fishing civilization.
Previously, Ni Ren had never personally resonated with two cosmic laws. That creature had merely possessed two recorded Immortal beings which had become civilizational weapons. That had granted Ni Ren power comparable to a two-law Immortal.
Ming Yu, on the other hand, had been a true two-law powerhouse, yet it had only been defeated because Lu Yin had ambushed it with the Dao Sword hidden within the Immortal Lord.
Chang Dou was the first two-law Immortal that Lu Yin had fought in a true one-on-one battle in every sense of the word. Such a powerhouse would certainly have a hidden trump card that could reverse the situation, even though Chang Dou had not yet actually lost to Lu Yin.
But if the situation dragged on, Lu Yin was very confident that he could wear Chang Dou down and kill it. In terms of brute strength, Chang Dou was still a bit lacking compared to Lu Yin.
Tri-Azure Sword Intent sliced forward but then suddenly froze in the void, hanging motionless in outer space.
Lu Yin frowned and slashed out with more Tri-Azure Sword Intent. This second strike was far stronger than the first, and yet it was also frozen. He could not understand what Chang Dou's world was.
Lu Yin clenched a fist, raised his hand, and released a blast of divine energy. Like the Tri-Azure Sword Intent, the beam of divine energy suddenly froze, unable to move any farther.
This truly shocked Lu Yin. How could this be? This was not the power of time. Could it be the power of space? What exactly was Chang Dou's world?
At that moment, the invisible force suddenly surged, and it swept right past Lu Yin to spread through the entire Consciousness Megaverse.
For Chang Dou, filling a single universe with its world was nothing. Even covering the entire Human Trio would not be a problem. Green Lotus was capable of that, and so was the Plume Immortal.
Lu Yin stopped moving. It was not that he was unable to move. Rather, he had a feeling that, if he did, the consequences would be impossible to predict.
Blood was still dripping from the torn flesh of Chang Dou's head. It looked at Lu Yin with vicious savagery in its eyes. "You don’t dare to move? If you don’t move, how will you defeat me?"
Lu Yin stared at Chang Dou. Why is this creature's world so similar to Hui's law?
Hui's ultimate move had been the Drumsound Realm, which had replaced a universe with sound. Once someone was enveloped by that sound, any movement they made would trigger an explosion within the Drumsound Realm. Furthermore, even if Hui’s opponent did not move, Hui could still use its law, Movement, to force their opponent to move and set off an explosion.
When facing Hui, Lu Yin had escaped from the Drumsound Realm by teleporting.
Chang Dou's world seemed quite similar to the Drumsound Realm, but while the Drumsound Realm had been triggered by motion, Chang Dou was using some other kind of power, one that Lu Yin had not yet seen through.
Chang Dou moved, advancing upon Lu Yin. He arched a brow. When Hui had used its Drumsound Realm, not even Hui had been able to move. Chang Dou's world was clearly far superior.
Chang Dou kept drawing closer, but Lu Yin did not dare to recklessly move. Then, Chang Dou raised its talons and brought them slashing down.
Lu Yin retreated by dodging. In that instant, his strength seemed to flow away. His expression changed. He could clearly feel his power slipping away. No, it was not slipping, but being restrained. It was like gears that had been jammed. Some invisible force was locking his power in place, making it unusable.
How could that be?
From beside Chang Dou, a Godplume Spear shot out.
Lu Yin retreated again. Each time he gave ground, another portion of his strength locked up. Then, not only his physical strength, but even his sight power which constantly remained became jammed. After that, his entire body felt as if something was locking it in place, as though every single move he made was opposing the entire cosmos.
He suddenly stared at Chang Dou. "I understand now. You use the power of fixed space as a lock. Any movement within that space damages the lock, and because the lock is actually a cosmic law, it keeps restricting all power within that space. The more that one struggles, the stronger that restrictive force becomes."
Chang Dou's eyes grew mocking. "Human, you do have a bit of a brain. This is called Turnstill."
Turnstill? Lu Yin's eyes flickered with deep wariness. He was currently resisting Chang Dou's cosmic law. The more that he moved, the more powerful the suppressive force would become. Was it like the cosmos itself coming to a halt?
"Originally, I had no intention of using this against you, but you have forced me into a disgraceful state, so I will slowly torture you to death. All of your power will be suppressed, and the pressure of the entire cosmos will fall upon you. How long do you think those humans will be able to endure for?" Chang Dou sneered.
Lu Yin's gaze darkened. This beast wanted to torture him to force his master and the others to come save him, which would allow Si Qin to seize the Crimson Lotus Tomb.
In truth, even if his master and the others came, they would not be able to save him. No one could. This was a life-and-death struggle between Lu Yin and Chang Dou.
"Struggle. The more that you struggle, the more fiercely you will be suppressed." Chang Dou raised its talons and unleashed a vicious slash at Lu Yin, forcing him to retreat once more. "No matter how this megaverse might have appeared, do you really think that it can restrain me? Wrong! This is a grave that you’ve prepared for yourself."
Lu Yin spat out a mouthful of blood. Not only were all of the powers within him being suppressed, but his blood was also slowing.
The edge of the talons swept past his side, ripping into Lu Yin's body and sending him flying back. Then, Chang Dou descended in front of him once more, one Godplume Spear after another stabbing down at him from above. "Human, I will cripple your limbs first! Then we’ll see how long those humans can endure for!"
In the distance, Mister Mu and the others' expressions changed drastically, and they nearly rushed forward. Si Qin's gaze swept over them, unspeakably sinister.
Lu Yin dodged most of the Godplume Spears, but two still stabbed into his body, and he fell like a blood-colored meteor.
Chang Dou pursued him, its talons descending and drawing ever closer. Lu Yin looked at Chang Dou and released his Karmic Dao while condensing a Dao Sword that slashed up and back.
The bird formed more Godplume Spears and stabbed them at the Dao Sword. Godplume Spears surrounded its entire body, forming a protective measure that did not actively attack. As Chang Dou descended, it let out a shriek.
At the same time, more and more Dao Swords appeared around Lu Yin's body before they all shot at Chang Dou.
Godplume Spears and Dao Swords completely enveloped Chang Dou and Lu Yin, making it impossible to see them clearly from outside the Consciousness Megaverse.
"Human, this is the consequence of provoking us Plume Immortals!" Chang Dou shrieked in a smug tone as its talons fell. The sharp talons sliced right through Lu Yin's abdomen, and he spat out blood. The bird’s other talons also fell, but they were blocked by the Manifestation Beyond the Pupil. There was a tremendous bang.
Lu Yin smirked, even as blood stained his clothes. "Feathered mongrel, this is the outcome of provoking my human race."
As Chang Dou watched in utter bewilderment, Lu Yin grabbed the talons that were embedded in his body. His scythe appeared in his right hand before slashing down.
Chang Dou sneered. Again? Under Turnstill, your power is completely ineffective. It is no longer enough to injure me.
The scythe slammed into Chang Dou's talons. At the start of their battle inside the Consciousness Megaverse, the scythe had still been able to slice open Chang Dou's body and even its talons, but now, Aberrant could not even leave the slightest mark.
Seeing Chang Dou's mocking sneer, Lu Yin just smiled brightly. Aberrant, Extremes Must Be Reversed.
Whoosh.
A pure black power appeared, rising like flames and coiling around the scythe before spreading into Chang Dou's body.
The bird stared at the black power as an indescribable terror spread through its whole body. What is this?
Bone Script. Lu Yin's eyes snapped open wide. Talons and bones ripped through skin and feathers, bursting out of Chang Dou’s flesh and ripping its body apart. The bird was beyond horrified. "Impossible! This is their power! Human, you...?"
Because what it was seeing was so unbelievable, Chang Dou actually forgot about Heaven's Sight and looked right at Lu Yin. Crow Immobilization.
Around them, the Godplume Spears lost power and fell away, but the Dao Swords remained. Behind Lu Yin, his Investiture of the Gods appeared, and Tri-Azure Sword Intent formed a river that circled the Dao Swords, winding around them and blocking all outside gazes from seeing what was happening in the depths of the Consciousness Megaverse, while also preventing Chang Dou's voice from reaching anyone.
This was the very moment that Lu Yin had been waiting for. By applying Extremes Must Be Reversed on his scythe, he was able to produce Stillness. When Activeness and Stillness were balanced against each other, the resulting destructive power was incomparable. And after Lu Yin used Bone Script, Stillness easily entered Chang Dou's body. This meant that the power had already directly invaded the bird’s body without even needing to damage its surface.
Divine energy destroyed from outside to inside, but the power of Stillness destroyed from inside to outside.
Turnstill might be able to restrain Lu Yin's own power, to the point where even his blood, manifested thought, and consciousness had been suppressed, but Activeness came from his scythe, and Stillness came from Activeness itself. This was not a power that could be restrained. Even if it could be, that would only happen after it had already been unleashed.
And once those two powers were unleashed, Chang Dou would have already received a fatal wound.
The bird wailed as bloodstained feathers fell away. All around them, the Consciousness Megaverse continued to reset. Universes collided, producing an endless amount of Immortal matter. Together with the bloodied feathers, it was a scene of utter ruin.
One Godplume Spear after another shot at Lu Yin. Chang Dou was struggling desperately.
Lu Yin grabbed the bird’s exposed bone. He stopped making more Stillness, shrouded himself in tri-colored divine energy, and then yanked hard.
Crack. The bone was torn apart. Chang Dou howled and struck at Lu Yin with both wings, only to abruptly freeze as the bones within its wings pierced the skin. Blood dripped onto Lu Yin's face.
His eyes grew fierce. He allowed the Godplume Spears to pierce his body in order to grab hold of Chang Dou again. He wrenched the bird’s bones apart with brute force. He fought Chang Dou in the middle of outer space in a struggle even more savage and bloody than before. Every move dyed the universe red as the two of them fell.
Si Qin sensed that something was wrong. Why is Chang Dou in an even worse state than before?
Mister Mu and the others stared into the distance. Little Seven!
