Chapter 4369: Make It Big
Chapter 4369: Make It Big
Lu Yin slowly looked up while holding the stone monster’s arm in place with one hand. “I don’t think that I’ve offended you.”
The stone monster stared at Lu Yin in disbelief. How was this possible? How had its arm been caught while it was making such a powerful attack? This creature was clearly not an Immortal. This should be impossible.
A smirk tugged at the corner of Lu Yin’s mouth. He lashed out with a foot while simultaneously freezing the void.
His foot viciously slammed into the stone monster, but because the void was frozen, the creature was not blasted away by the terrifying force. Instead, cracks spider-webbed across its body. It had taken the full force of the blow head-on.
The stone monster howled. Seeing Lu Yin lift his foot again, it hurriedly begged, “Stop! I won’t fight! I won’t fight!”
Lu Yin sneered. “You say that you won’t fight, and that’s supposed to be the end of it?”
He kicked again, and this time, he nearly shattered the stone monster’s body. The creature let out another howl. “It’s my fault! My fault! Mighty one, I was wrong. Please, stop hitting me!”
Lu Yin let go of the creature’s arm. The stone monster retreated again and again, clutching its cracked body. Pain filled its eyes.
This thing clearly isn’t an Immortal being, so how is he as strong as a monster? The creature’s own strength was useless; not even Lifeforce and Immortal matter were enough for it to block a single kick. What’s going on? Is this some kind of Aberrant? Since when are Aberrants this strong?
The stone monster could not understand its situation. Ever since it had run into that guy, its life had been one long tragedy.
It slowly backed away, only for Lu Yin to call out, “Any further back, and I won’t be polite.”
The stone monster froze. Its eyes curved up as it forced itself to smile at Lu Yin. It made its voice as gentle as possible. “Mighty one, um... that was a misunderstanding just now. I hadn’t regained my senses just yet. Right, you saved me, didn’t you? Thank you, mighty one, thank you.”
Lu Yin appraised the creature. “As an Immortal, it’s really pathetic for you to be this weak.”
This stone monster was roughly equal to the Immortal beast from long ago, and it was likely about as strong as the Immortal from the Seal-Eater Civilization. It was the absolute bottom of the barrel among Immortal beings.
The stone monster was speechless. This was not its original strength, and now it was being looked down upon. If that guy had not shattered its weapon, would some mere Aberrant have had the qualifications to be so arrogant? Its species concentrated all of their power into their weapons.
“Why did you attack me?” Lu Yin asked.
The stone monster cautiously replied, “For a moment, I hadn’t returned to my senses yet.”
Lu Yin smiled. “I can still throw you back in.”
The stone monster was horrified. Even if it were beaten to death, it did not want to go back in. If it went back in and ended up as a stone once more, who knew where it might end up? If it was at the very bottom of a latrine... Just the thought was absolutely terrifying.
“Respected mighty one, please don’t do that. I haven’t offended you. How about this: I am willing to serve you for 10,000 years to repay you for saving me. I’m an Immortal being, after all, which is enough to protect your civilization. Please give me a chance.”
Lu Yin flatly replied, “An Immortal being means nothing to me. I’ll ask questions, and you answer them. Say one wrong word, and I’ll throw you back in. I have my own ways to verify that you are being honest. Don’t ruin yourself.”
“Yes. I’ll speak. I won’t conceal anything.”
“Why did you attack me?”
“Because you look the same as the creatures inside that city. I thought that you were one of them.”
“How did you get in?”
“I was captured.”
“Who captured you?” Lu Yin stared at the stone monster.
The stone monster’s voice grew bitter. “I... I couldn’t see clearly. I just remember a sword that looked like stars linked together.”
The Starforged Sword. Lu Yin instantly thought of that. It was Che’s weapon. It had once chased a meteorite into the Consciousness Megaverse, where it had later been shattered. Che had personally gone to the Consciousness Megaverse just to retrieve his Starforged Sword.
“What did you discover after entering Manifest City?”
“Discover?”
“You weren’t stuck in a latrine the whole time, were you.”
The stone monster fell silent.
Lu Yin frowned. “It looks like you’re useless.”
As he spoke, a spiral of karma coiled around his fingertip before shooting towards the stone monster. The creature was unable to see karma, but it still tried to dodge by instinct.
“Move again and see what happens,” Lu Yin threatened.
The stone monster did not dare to move and allowed the karma to pierce it. It was initially confused, but then it suddenly thought of something and blurted in horror, “This- karma?”
It was possible for some Immortals to not be able to see karma, but it was impossible for them to be completely ignorant of karma.
Lu Yin replied, “I hope that you didn’t lie to me, or else you’ll end up back in that latrine.”
The stone monster hurriedly said, “I didn’t lie.”
“Oh? You still have a chance. Tell me something valuable.”
“I’m the one who coordinated the Night March of a Thousand Forms.”
Lu Yin froze. “What Night March of a Thousand Forms?”
The stone monster was surprised. “You don’t know about that?”
“I don’t.”
The stone monster regretted speaking. If it had known that Lu Yin was ignorant of this matter, it would not have said anything. Unfortunately, having already spoken, there was no room for it to keep matters hidden. Helpless, it slowly began to explain, revealing its greatest value.
It had not been alone when it was captured and sent into Manifest City. Rather, it had been sent in along with its entire civilization. Lu Yin actually already knew about this, as he had seen similar stone monsters among the creatures that he had brought out before. He simply had not paid much attention to them. He did not find it at all surprising that Che would throw an entire civilization into Manifest City.
What was surprising was learning that this Golem Civilization had a unique means of communication. While inside Manifest City, the Immortal golem had not been able to free itself and had been stuck in a latrine, but it had still been able to use that unique method to mobilize all the other creatures from its civilization. As a result, it had initiated the Night March on several occasions.
The so-called Night March was when all kinds of transformed creatures charged at the city gate during the night. Of course, the results tended to be miserable, with all of them being burned to death. This had been the golem’s attempt to free its own kind.
The Night March was not the key piece of information. What was important was that this golem was actually able to use its unique method to contact others of its kind within Manifest City. That was what it considered to be its most valuable trait.
It did not know why it had been thrown into that place, but being able to communicate while transformed was clearly a valuable ability.
“Since you are able to contact others from your civilization, why didn’t you have them save you?”
“I am our kind’s only Immortal, the ancestor of our civilization. I would rather die than have them see me stuck in a latrine,” the golem stated firmly. After a pause, it continued to say, “And I was also confident that I could slowly grind my way out.”
“What if you fell into the pit?” Lu Yin asked.
The Immortal golem was speechless. That- I’d still be able to escape that way. At least I wouldn’t have been wedged in place.
Lu Yin observed the golem’s past through karma and saw it initiate the Night March . Silently, it seemed to be mobilizing something. Outside the latrine, a cat ran past. Surely, it was another creature from the Golem Civilization.
It was also clear that the cat could have rescued the Immortal golem.
In fact, if considered from another angle, the Immortal’s stubbornness might not have been mere pride but also a fear of being sabotaged. If the creatures from its civilization threw it into a river, it would never be able to escape. It could be reassuring to retain control of one’s own fate.
Time continued to pass. Lu Yin studied the golem’s past and eventually saw the Starforged Sword fall. He also witnessed the golem’s true strength. However, it was still not strong enough, or else its weapon would not have been shattered from a single blow from the Starforged Sword.
However, Che had been present for that battle. If not, his Starforged Sword alone would not have been able to defeat an Immortal.
For the next half year or so, Lu Yin examined the golem’s cultivation history by reading its past with karma. He also saw its time trapped inside the latrine...
“Aside from you, none of your kind are able to launch the Night March , right?”
The golem looked at Lu Yin, having a bad premonition.
Lu Yin smiled. Nearby, his Champions’ Stage Purgatory appeared, and he kicked the golem in. He would increase his karma first and then talk to it more.
The golem wanted to rush back out, but Lu Yin’s voice grew cold. “Move about recklessly, and I’ll push you to the very bottom of a latrine.”
The golem did not move a muscle. Despicable!
After the golem’s karma had been fully absorbed, Lu Yin took it back into Manifest City. The creature begged, “Mighty one, I haven’t hidden anything! Why are you still making me go back in?”
Lu Yin replied, “Once you’re inside, wait for night and make three taps to signal me. I’ll find you and put you somewhere comfortable. Wait for my command to trigger the Night March . If you dare to disobey me, I promise that you’ll never get out again for the rest of your life.”
The golem wanted to beg again, but it knew that doing so was useless. It had to return to Manifest City.
Lu Yin transformed into a bird and immediately hid under the eaves, quietly waiting for night to fall. As the night watchman’s clapper sounded, Lu Yin flew over Manifest City, searching for the three light taps. He found it quickly. It was not far away.
This time, the golem’s luck was decent; the stone was on a rooftop. “This place is nice. There’s a good view and no one to bother you.”
The golem also felt that it had ended up in a good location, though leaving the city entirely would be best. “When do we launch the Night March ?”
“Wait for my signal. Don’t worry. Work with me, and you’ll get back out.” After speaking, Lu Yin grabbed the stone with a claw and flew towards a big tree.
The golem was alarmed. It did not know where Lu Yin was taking it, and it did not want to end up in a latrine again.
However, Lu Yin wedged the stone into a tree branch, forcefully jamming it in until the golem could no longer move on its own. Still, the view from the tree was better, and there was even less to disturb it.
Without doing this, the golem would have been able to roll to the gate during the night on its own, and Lu Yin would not have been able to find it again.
After Lu Yin left, the golem sighed at how unlucky it was. After finally escaping the latrine, it could have waited for night and then simply left. It had never expected to be targeted by someone like Lu Yin.
Lu Yin did not immediately leave Manifest City. Instead, he stayed for more than a decade before departing. During those years, he took many more creatures out, but he found no more Immortals.
Aside from those that Lu Yin took out, some other creatures managed to escape Manifest City on their own. However, even if they could escape from Manifest City, they could not escape from Lu Yin. Unless they became Immortals, then even if they fled through the Aevum Inch for hundreds or thousands of years, Lu Yin would still be able to find them with a single thought.
From time to time, he would go check on the Immortal golem, also warning it to prevent it from contacting others of its species to rescue it. After all, that was not impossible.
Lu Yin suddenly thought of selecting a group of people from the Human Trio to have them enter Manifest City. After all, the city had humans, animals, and objects.
The humans were outside of his control for the time being, but if he controlled all of the animals and objects, then that could also count as controlling Manifest City.
With this thought, he returned to human civilization and began selecting people. They would certainly face danger, as many creatures had died in Manifest City. Still, the potential gains that accompanied that danger were enormous.
In the cultivation world, there was constant danger. As long as the potential harvest was rich enough, there would always be people willing to face any risks.
Lu Yin left this matter for the Heavens Sect to oversee. Before long, a million cultivators were selected to participate. These people were only the ones from Tianyuan. In the Nine Odysseys Megaverse and the Spirit Nidus, there were even more people willing to enter Manifest City. These people knew the potential danger, but they were even more willing to take this risk.
It was not enough, not even close. If Lu Yin was going to do this, he would do it big.
Not all of the people needed to be cultivators; ordinary people were also perfectly acceptable. After all, once inside Manifest City, even Immortals became ordinary.
