Chapter 1635: Planning to Accompany
Upon learning that Shao Yunduan was slated for a transfer, reluctance hung in the air among the community.
Curious children persistently inquired about Qiao Xuan’s return to the capital, unable to bear parting with Shao Yunduan. To them, the notion of Anze Province held no significance, and they assumed Lord Shao’s relocation was merely a result of a promotion to another place.
In contrast, Zheng Sangge, Liu Changming, Wu Guan, and the others were familiar with An Zezhou. However, they chose not to disclose the details to the broader group, deeming it unwise to stir emotions. Even if others were aware, it wouldn’t alter the situation. Ignorance, in this case, seemed preferable.
Yet, they couldn’t remain idle.
After deliberation, Zheng Sangge proposed that Lord Shao and Madam Shao required assistance while out of town. Consequently, he decided to bring some capable individuals, along with good seedlings, to Anze Province with Shao Yunduan and Qiao Xuan.
Despite Shao Yunduan’s gratitude, Zheng Sangge and the others insisted on accompanying him. Recognizing their capabilities and self-defense skills, Shao Yunduan accepted their offer with thanks.
Zheng Sangge chuckled heartily. “Lord, you’re too polite. This is what we should do!”
Since their arrival at the farm, Zheng Sangge had consistently addressed Qiao Xuan and Shao Yunduan as “Madam” and “Lord.”
The couple had provided shelter and stability to over seventy individuals, offering them a prolonged period of contentment. In their time of need, turning a blind eye and reveling in peace would be inhumane!
Moreover, after years of confinement, the group was eager to explore the world beyond.
Following thorough discussions, Zheng Sangge and the others decided that Zheng Sangge, Wu Guan, and Yang Mu, a returning army veteran, would be accompanied by ten-year-old Lu Qian, Mo Li, Liu Fu, Madam Song, Xiao’er, Qing Lian, Ms. Miao, and Qiaoqiao—a total of 11 people.
If Xiao Er expressed the desire to go, Ms. Song wouldn’t hinder her son. Naturally, she would follow suit. Ms. Miao took the initiative to join, being close to Ms. Song. With a companion in tow, it would be convenient for household tasks and organizing for the journey.
Qiaoqiao, unable to bear parting with Qing Lian, was overjoyed.
Thus, the decision was finalized.
Liu Changming, Song Guangyao, and others stayed at the manor to attend to the remaining people and manage the estate.
With the decision made, preparations were underway.
Given the considerable distance, procuring a carriage became imperative. A pre-made one wouldn’t suffice; modifications were needed to enhance sturdiness and comfort.
Eleven people would require at least three carriages—two for seating and one for luggage.
Qiao Xuan initially thought four carriages would be more comfortable, but Zheng Sangge and the others argued that two would suffice. With the need for alternating drivers, having too many carriages would prove inconvenient.
The packing was minimal—just a few clothes and essentials.
After a discussion with Shao Yunduan, Zheng Sangge decided to take a few men with him to Anze City to gather information, ensuring Shao Yunduan and the others wouldn’t be entirely clueless.
This plan was agreed upon.
As a result, Zheng Sangge departed with Yang Mu and Lu Qian, while the others followed Shao Yunduan and Qiao Xuan.
On the third day of February, Shao Yunduan and Qiao Xuan discreetly left the capital.
