Chapter 1459: Naming

When Shao Yunduan broached the topic of naming the black horse, Qiao Xuan’s interest was piqued. She playfully tugged on Shao Yunduan’s sleeve and chuckled, “Well then, what are we waiting for, dear? Take me to see it! Mianmian, let’s go!”
Mianmian had riding skills, which had brought her along for the day’s excursion. She outshone Lixia and Liqiu, who were now petrified on their horses, overwhelmed with fear.
Mianmian blushed with delight, nodded, and followed Qiao Xuan and Shao Yunduan.
Ah-Ye’s affection and care for the big black horse were evident. The untamed and proud steed didn’t readily approach humans, and at the moment, Ah-Ye was accompanying it behind a small hillock in the distance. He meticulously stroked and groomed its black, satin-like mane, and the big black horse seemed utterly content, elegantly enjoying the attention and occasionally responding with soft snorts.
Qiao Xuan’s eyes lit up upon seeing the majestic horse. She expressed her admiration, “What a stunning creature, this big black horse! Ah-Ye, you’ve done a marvelous job!”
Mianmian, upon hearing this, beamed with even more joy than if she were the one receiving praise. The two exchanged glances, leaving Ah-Ye too embarrassed to smile. He explained, “Madam, Lord mentioned that he’d like you to give the big black horse a name.”
Qiao Xuan was elated. She exchanged glances with Shao Yunduan and said with a smile, “Certainly, I’ll need to ponder it thoughtfully. A magnificent horse like this deserves a name that’s anything but ordinary!”
Mianmian chimed in, “Madam’s choice will undoubtedly be splendid.”
Qiao Xuan drew closer to the big black horse, enchanted by its mane that resembled black satin. She couldn’t resist running her hand over it.
Shao Yunduan and Ah-Ye were taken aback, almost reaching out to stop her. However, Qiao Xuan’s hand had already made contact. The big black horse glanced at her briefly, calmly swished its tail, and continued to graze, showing no signs of anger or resistance.
Shao Yunduan and Ah-Ye were equally astounded. This big black horse had a haughty disposition. It had recently acknowledged its master, and aside from Ah-Ye, it had shown no interest in anyone else. Even Prince Nuo Nuo had nearly been kicked when he attempted to touch it.
Shao Yunduan hesitated to approach, fearing he might meet the same fate as others.
However, to his astonishment, as soon as his wife stepped forward, she began to caress the horse.
Qiao Xuan was unaware of what had transpired, but the horse felt so delightful to the touch that she couldn’t resist running her hand over its coat.
Qiao Xuan grinned, “How obedient and endearing it is!”
Shao Yunduan was at a loss for words, while Ah-Ye was equally surprised.
As Qingdi’s horses served as their sole mode of transportation, Qiao Xuan habitually carried pine nuts in her purse. A few remained, and with her mounting delight, she took them out and offered them to the horse.
The big black horse sniffed her palm and began eating without hesitation. It even swished its tail in delight and nuzzled its head against Qiao Xuan, eliciting her laughter.
She waved to Shao Yunduan, calling, “Husband, come over!”
Why was he standing so far away? Wasn’t the Big Black Horse handsome and attractive? Qiao Xuan wondered.
Shao Yunduan smiled and nodded as he drew closer.
When the Big Black Horse suddenly looked up at him, he paused in his steps. Yet, as the horse continued to eat pine nuts without paying him any mind, he silently breathed a sigh of relief and cautiously joined them.
He didn’t dare to reach out and touch the horse, instead standing by and observing.
It was already a remarkable achievement for them to be in such close proximity. They were faring much better than Prince Nuo Nuo.
