Chapter 1029: Report

Chapter 1029: Chapter 1029: Report

Lan Xuanyu gave a wry smile, “Captain, we had no choice. You know what we’ve done. If we don’t turn off the signal, we might be discovered by the enemy. However, I believe we’ve brought back only good news. May we be allowed to return to the warship?”

Yan Xinghe snorted, “Return is allowed. Come back first and then we’ll talk.”

After the communication ended, the Thirty-Three Skywing Warship then headed toward the Seventh Fleet’s Warship Group. Four escort ships flew out, and Lan Xuanyu voluntarily shut down the Thirty-Three Skywing Warship’s flight systems, weapon systems, and protective systems, allowing the four escort ships to tow them toward the Dragon Three Battleship.

After all, having been missing for so long, an inspection was inevitable. Shutting down all the systems of the warship, leaving themselves vulnerable, was naturally an act to clarify that everything was normal.

The warship was directly pulled into the Dragon Three Frigate, entering the belly of the escort ship, which then closed up.

Once the warship stabilized, Lan Xuanyu saw through the large screen that Yan Xinghe was already waiting outside for them. Apart from Yan Xinghe, there were no other senior military officers from the Dragon Three Battleship.

The hatch opened, and Lan Xuanyu was the first to walk down. He quickly approached Yan Xinghe, stood at attention, and gave him a military salute.

Yan Xinghe returned the salute, then waved his hand.

Immediately, a soldier came over and scanned Lan Xuanyu and his six companions with a device, checking whether their bodies had any implants, chips, or had undergone metallization—ensuring they had not been captured by the enemy and turned into spies.

Lan Xuanyu spread his arms and calmly accepted the inspection.

After the inspection was completed, the soldiers reported to Yan Xinghe that everything was normal. Yan Xinghe’s expression remained somewhat somber; he gestured to Lan Xuanyu and turned to get into the vehicle.

Lan Xuanyu hurriedly followed and boarded Yan Xinghe’s vehicle. The other six got into another car.

The doors closed and the vehicle drove smoothly.

Lan Xuanyu sat upright, silent.

Yan Xinghe glanced at him and said, “Now you’ve become a good boy? Just by looking at your appearance, who could imagine you would do something so crazy? Do you know how much pressure this has put on us?”

“I was wrong, Captain. I have caused you trouble,” said Lan Xuanyu sincerely, earnestly, and respectfully.

Yan Xinghe initially had a bellyful of fire, ready to give this rascal a good dressing down once he returned. But seeing his demeanor, he somehow held it back.

“Don’t you have anything to explain?” Yan Xinghe snapped.

Lan Xuanyu innocently replied, “I was wrong, and that’s that. I don’t have anything to explain. I indeed made a mistake. Especially for causing you trouble. You must have suffered a lot on my behalf, and for that, you’ve worked hard.”

“I…” Yan Xinghe didn’t know what to say anymore. This attitude of admitting fault was indeed commendable, but for some reason, he felt uncomfortable. Yes, uncomfortable.

“Hmph!”

The vehicle went straight to the headquarters, with Yan Xinghe leading the way, his expression seemingly back to calm. Lan Xuanyu carefully followed behind. The other six weren’t brought along, and were instead sent back to their accommodations—a clear request from Yan Xinghe.

Upon reaching a small conference room, Yan Xinghe gestured, and Lan Xuanyu hastily closed the door, then stood at attention.

Yan Xinghe stood in front of him, his gaze piercingly fixed on him.

After quite a long pause, he suddenly laughed.

Before him stood a young man whose shoulders bore a general’s stars, his face rather youthful and beautiful as a young maiden, his eyes pure and clear as crystal. Who wouldn’t like him? He even felt the urge to have a daughter just to marry her off to him.

Yet, if anyone knew what this young man had done, they would never associate him with his current appearance.

This was someone who, without a second thought, would launch antimatter missiles and destroy planets if he felt like it.

Yan Xinghe smiled, but suddenly felt a headache coming on. If only he had known, he would have never taken on this hot potato!

Yan Xinghe remained silent, as did Lan Xuanyu, standing stiffly at attention without any compromise.

After a long while, Yan Xinghe finally said somewhat helplessly, “All right, sit down.”

“Yes.” Only then did Lan Xuanyu sit, holding his back straight, looking like he was all ears for a lecture.

Yan Xinghe looked him over and said, “Honestly, if it weren’t for the Sky Domination Clan’s warships emerging en masse, I would have had a hard time believing you really blew up their most important Resource Planet. Never mind how you infiltrated it. But your audacity alone is astonishing. According to the images captured by our reconnaissance spacecraft from afar, No.76 Planet is missing a third of its mass and has been knocked off its original orbit. The Sky Domination Clan is somehow using their Mother Planet to keep it tethered, preventing it from completely drifting away to become a massive meteor.”

Lan Xuanyu blinked, he genuinely didn’t know about this development. They had fled right after the explosion.

“So, you destroyed a planet, a Resource Planet. Really, that’s quite something!” Yan Xinghe gave Lan Xuanyu a thumbs-up.

Lan Xuanyu understood that this was no compliment. Still, he remained silent.

Taking a deep breath, Yan Xinghe said, “The incident has sparked heated debate within the federation. Your actions have mostly been met with negative reviews. The only thing we can argue is that the destruction of No.76 Planet is a far greater loss for the Dragon Horse Galaxy than for us. It almost crippled the Sky Domination Clan’s future development prospects. Now tell me, are those Space Source Crystals able to regenerate?”

“Probably difficult,” Lan Xuanyu replied.

Yan Xinghe sighed and said, “You’ve destroyed a treasure of the universe! The appearance of the Space Source Crystals has rapidly advanced our space technology. Although obtaining them is becoming increasingly difficult, there was still a chance to acquire some. The crystals in our hands and those in the hands of the Sky Domination Clan are vastly different. We managed to secure a victory in this war, and one of the conditions for the armistice talks was regarding the Space Source Crystals. Yet, you blew up No.76 Planet. The crystals are equally important to the Dragon Horse Galaxy, and even the federation didn’t dare to attack directly, for fear of sparking a full-scale war. Yet you did just that. The high-level federation officials responsible for negotiation also face tremendous pressure.”

“What’s the status of the negotiations now?” Lan Xuanyu asked.

Yan Xinghe shook his head, “I’m not yet clear on the specifics. Originally, the Dragon Horse Galaxy was supposed to compromise, but with this new issue arising from your actions, it’s hard to say. All we can do now is deny that we were responsible.”

“So, I might have created some leverage for the negotiations. Captain, has the Sky Domination Clan’s fleet withdrawn? Are they not preparing to attack us anymore?”

Yan Xinghe was surprised, “How did you know? The day before yesterday, for reasons unknown, the Sky Domination Clan’s fleet that had started to confront us and had even engaged in minor skirmishes suddenly withdrew. There were far more ships in the Sky Domination Clan’s fleet than we anticipated. Hundreds of warships, all capable of spatial jumps, elusive like ghosts. Initially, we thought it was a trap, but they’ve been absent for two days now.”

Lan Xuanyu cracked a slight smile, “They’ve probably gone to Sky Dragon Planet. I have important intelligence to report to you.”

“Speak,” Yan Xinghe’s heart trembled, yes, trembled. The last time Lan Xuanyu reported crucial intelligence, it led to the bombing of No.76 Planet.

Lan Xuanyu said, “Here’s what happened. After leaving No.76 Planet, to avoid bringing trouble to our fleet, we didn’t come straight back. Instead, we took a detour to Sky Dragon Planet.”

“What?” Yan Xinghe couldn’t help but exclaim.

“You went to Sky Dragon Planet? Are you insane?”

Lan Xuanyu cleared his throat, “Captain, please hear me out. It’s like this: when we were on No. 76 Planet, we successfully infiltrated it. After infiltrating, we discovered that the Space Source Crystals there seemed to be born from a base of magic silver. Following that lead, we discovered where the Space Source Crystals were stored. But the place was guarded by several God Rank strong beings, so we couldn’t steal them. Instead, I hid a bomb there, one that could be detonated at any moment, as a contingency. When we left, we also discovered a substance related to the generation of Space Source Crystals, but it appeared to only be effective on No. 76 Planet. It was a liquid with a strong spatial fluctuation. We carefully took some with us. After leaving No. 76 Planet, we even tried soaking magic silver in it, to see if Space Source Crystals would appear. It turned out that it was not possible. It seems that only in the unique environment of No. 76 Planet could they be cultivated.”

“Blowing up No. 76 Planet was indeed a rash move on my part. At the time, we thought that our warship had been spotted and destroyed. We couldn’t find our companions immediately, so I detonated the timed bomb. I hadn’t anticipated that the Space Source Crystals would detonate as well, resulting in the destruction of the planet. This was indeed an unexpected outcome. I know I was wrong. We gained no advantage, yet brought so much trouble to the federation. So, I wanted to make amends. That’s why I went to Sky Dragon Planet.”
