Chapter 1010: 101: Trading Center
Chapter 1010: Chapter 101: Trading Center
The hall was simply too vast, crowded with beings from all races of the Dragon Horse Star System. Among them were some with powerful auras.
After wandering around for over an hour, Lan Xuanyu finally figured out the transaction methods here.
There were several ways to trade within this mining trade center. The simplest was direct selling, which applied to mid- and low-tier minerals, including not just rare metals but also some energy-type minerals.
The mining trade center had dedicated places to purchase these goods, and they would transfer the payment directly into the specified account. Yes, you needed an account, specifically an account for Sky Dragon Planet.
Sky Dragon Planet had something similar to a bank, referred to as Sky Dragon Bank. An account with Sky Dragon Bank was universally accepted across the Dragon Horse Star System and represented the most advanced financial instrument. Thus, before engaging in transactions here, one needed to have an account with Sky Dragon Bank.
Those who came to conduct such trades were most numerous, and these were the bread-and-butter transactions of the mining trade center. Apart from these, there were other types of transactions.
The one that intrigued Lan Xuanyu the most was a kind of trade called “betting”. This was organized by the mining trade center itself; it wasn’t about buying, but rather selling various rare mineral resources.
The Betting Area had tens of thousands of mineral items, all types included. But the majority of these minerals were encased within rocks and protected by isolation shields. One could only observe and not touch as they selected the minerals.
To enter the Betting Area, one had to pay a certain fee. After paying the fee, one could choose a piece of mineral. After selecting, you could either take it with you or ask an expert to reveal its true nature in public. The most valuable among the Betting Area’s minerals could be of the same level as Space Source Crystals, while the least valuable could just be common rocks. Therefore, this area was highly entertaining and geared towards those with a strong gambling spirit.
Some had struck it rich in the Betting Area, but many more had lost even the price of admission.
The Betting Area was divided into different levels. By buying tickets of different levels, you could enter different areas. The higher the level of the ticket, the higher the probability of finding good items and the more likely you were to find high-quality treasures. Of course, the price of the ticket was also much higher.
Lan Xuanyu and his companions were very interested in the Betting Area; don’t forget that Lan Xuanyu had a Treasure Hunting Beast. Even if the items were shielded, Ah Bao could sense whether there were good items through a wall in no time!
But the problem was, as the saying goes, “A hero is nothing without his pennies”, and their biggest issue now was that they didn’t have a Sky Dragon Bank account or any Dragon Horse Coins.
Dragon Horse Coins were the common currency of the entire Dragon Horse Star System. Every race had its currency, but the most stable in value and widely accepted was the Dragon Horse Coin.
Dragon Horse Coins had strong purchasing power, and in Lan Xuanyu’s opinion, they were much stronger than the federation coin of the Douluo Federation.
So, how to get some Dragon Horse Coins was the problem they faced now. The first thing to resolve was the account issue. An account with Sky Dragon Bank would allow them to truly integrate into the world of Sky Dragon Star.
“Let’s go and set up an account first,” Lan Xuanyu said as he led his companions out of the mining trade center. He glanced at the electronic map and quickly found a Sky Dragon Bank not far from the trade center.
A Sky Dragon Bank account came with a special card, and this account was closely linked to one’s identity to ensure privacy, accuracy, and uniqueness.
Members of all races could open their accounts, but they had to undergo rigorous identity verification and record checks before setting them up. Clearly, these were not things Lan Xuanyu and his friends could do.
But they had their ways. The seven of them observed the surroundings of the Sky Dragon Bank for a while and soon, they found their target.
It was a burly man of the Blue Sea Tribe who had just emerged from the Sky Dragon Bank, a smile plastered across his face. The reason they chose him was that they had seen this very man earlier in the mineral transaction center. He was an ordinary mineral merchant, apparently specializing in the sale of undersea ores.
Lan Xuanyu gave his companions a look and then took the initiative to step forward. Now, disguised as a tall member of the Blue Sea Tribe himself, Xuanyu approached the merchant.
“Friend, may I have a word with you?” Lan Xuanyu’s voice, translated into the official language of the Dragon Horse Galaxy by the translator, spoke up.
The Blue Sea Tribe’s mineral merchant had just finished a transaction and was about to look for a place to have a meal in celebration when he was suddenly halted, though he was not alarmed. After all, this was Fenglong City, and the security on Sky Dragon Planet was usually quite good.
“What is it?” he appraised Lan Xuanyu from head to toe, his eyes visibly relaxing upon realizing Xuanyu was of his own tribe.
“I noticed you just came from the mineral transaction center,” Lan Xuanyu said in a lowered voice, “I’ve got some fine items here and was wondering if you’re interested.”
“Fine items? Let’s walk and talk,” the Blue Sea Tribe man surprisingly complied, gesturing for Xuanyu to follow and headed towards a corner.
Following the man, Lan Xuanyu listened as he whispered, “Brother, where do these goods come from? As long as the price is right, I’m interested.”
What’s the most profitable thing? Undoubtedly, smuggling. The Dragon Horse Star System was populated with many planets and diverse species. Some planetary ores were extremely rare, hence embargoed. And the more forbidden the merchandise, the greater the value. Space Source Crystals, for instance, were among the most renowned.
Reaching the corner, a flash of light shone from Lan Xuanyu’s hand, revealing a palm-sized piece of metal that he handed to the other.
“Isn’t this Heavy Silver? What’s so special about…” The Blue Sea Tribe member took the piece of Heavy Silver, at first slightly disappointed, but then noticed something was off.
Because the weight of the piece of Heavy Silver was extraordinary, and when he held it, he immediately felt that it wasn’t just dense; it had an excellent texture. More importantly, the entire metal faintly pulsed with life, emitting a vibrant, life-imbued aura from within.
“Friend, do you see what I mean?” Lan Xuanyu said, his smile growing.
The Blue Sea Tribe man swallowed hard, “Where did you get this? Heavy Silver with Life Force?”
Lan Xuanyu explained, “The Douluo Federation—that’s the place currently at war with us. This is Heavy Silver, but it’s been refined. They have a very unique refining method called Forging. This piece of Heavy Silver has been given life through Forging, they call it Spirit Forging. You can feel the quality for yourself. It’s definitely a valuable item, highly prized and hard to come by even in the human world.”
His eyes spinning, the Blue Sea Tribe man said, “The item’s not bad, but the way you’ve acquired it seems questionable. Plus, it belongs to the Douluo Federation; it’s not easy to sell! Regarding the price, I can’t offer much.”
Sighing, Lan Xuanyu replied, “Then forget it,” while reaching to take back the Heavy Silver from the merchant’s hand.
“Hey, don’t! How much do you want for it?” the Blue Sea Tribe man quickly moved his hand away. He clearly understood the value of Spirit Forged metal; its research potential far exceeded its practical use. In Sky Dragon Star, there were specific places that bought such materials at very high prices.
“This isn’t the place for such talks. Do you have a safer place? Let’s talk more seriously. We’re from the same tribe, so let me be frank with you. I have a way to get these metals, but I’m undocumented on Sky Dragon Star, which means I can’t trade. I need your identity to help me. We can both profit from this partnership, how about it?” Lan Xuanyu whispered.
His plan didn’t involve robbing a Blue Sea Tribe man to use his identity. They had only just arrived on Sky Dragon Star and knew next to nothing about the place. Impersonating someone was risky and too easily exposed. Rather than take that approach, it was better to find a collaborator—temptation with benefits often worked better and was safer than force.
