Chapter 168: Chapter 168: You’re Here to Apply for a Job?
This building was just completed. After the decision was made to establish this investigation team, the construction crew immediately began building it with robots.
The whole process took less than three days. The Monster Investigation Bureau building covered a huge area.
It was half the size of the First Corps’ base and included training grounds, a cafeteria, dormitories, an office building, and more.
"Whoa, there’s even a Mecha manufacturing building for me!" Shi Feng stared at the map, completely in disbelief.
Feng He leaned over to look at the map too and saw that it even had a hospital. It really had everything.
"I can do all my research here from now on." Feng He was delighted.
Shi Feng was happy too. He could finish his Mecha in this building.
"What’s the food in the cafeteria like?" Gu Kaiwen asked.
"We should be the ones to decide," Mo Xuan said after a moment’s thought.
After all, they were the leaders of this base now.
"Since the base is ready, where are our soldiers?" Gu Kaiwen asked, still confused.
"There’s no way it’s just the five of us in this huge base, right?" Mo Xuan didn’t believe it. ’If that’s really the case, we should just resign and go home to be farmers!’
"What about Captain Li?" Shi Feng suddenly asked. "Isn’t Captain Li coming to join us?"
"You want Captain Li to come here?"
Feng He said jokingly, "To be our head of logistics?"
"He probably wouldn’t want to." Lin Jingjing shook her head.
After touring the base, the group started picking out their dorms. The male and female dorms were separate.
So the five of them split up at the bottom of the dormitory building. Lin Jingjing and Feng He looked up; the structures here all had a metallic finish.
They had a high-tech look from the outside, and the inside was still all metal.
It was cold and didn’t feel like a home at all.
The two of them chose their rooms and arranged their personal belongings. Each unit was a one-bedroom, one-living-room, one-bathroom suite with a small kitchen and a balcony.
Lin Jingjing looked around with satisfaction. ’I’ll be living here for the long term now.’
Not long after they finished setting up, a video call from Captain Li came in.
"Captain Li, what’s up?"
"Have you reached the base yet?" Captain Li asked.
"We have."
Hearing that they had arrived, Captain Li nodded and said, "I’m bringing a group of people over this afternoon. You guys get them settled in."
’Get them settled in?’
’Are we getting busy already?’
"Aren’t you coming to help us?" Lin Jingjing quickly asked. ’How long is this going to take with just the two of us?’
"You’re on your own. I’m swamped over here," Captain Li refused without hesitation. "Someone will come to help you."
That afternoon, countless levitating warships flew in.
The massive parade ground was filled in an instant.
The levitating warships were huge and filled with people.
The soldiers inside disembarked one by one, then formed up into small square squads.
Each of these small squads had a leader, who was presumably their captain.
A lot of people had shown up all at once. The five of them stood in a line, a bit unsure of what to do.
"What do we do now?" Shi Feng asked blankly as they all stood there stunned.
"Forget it. Let them come and report," Lin Jingjing said with a wave of her hand.
Just as she predicted, the captains of the various squads came before them, saluted, and began to report one by one.
A total of fifty thousand people were joining their Monster Investigation Bureau this time. If they needed more personnel later, they could recruit again.
Lin Jingjing nodded and arranged for their accommodations.
While the new arrivals settled into their quarters, Jiang He didn’t stay idle. He gathered all the squad captains for a small meeting.
After learning about their backgrounds, Lin Jingjing immediately assigned them to their posts for the next day.
The squad captains were also assigned positions based on their areas of expertise.
After everything was arranged, Lin Jingjing looked at the overall commander who had brought the troops and said, "Miss Lu, I’ll have to trouble you to manage them for now. We need to go investigate something tomorrow."
Lu Shaoyu was taken aback when she heard this. ’They got a lead today after just accepting the mission yesterday?’
"You found a lead so quickly?" Lu Shaoyu asked.
"We just stumbled into it," Lin Jingjing replied.
’Even if they just stumbled into it, that’s still impressive.’
Lu Shaoyu nodded and replied, "I understand. I’ll manage them well."
With everything settled, Lin Jingjing and the others returned to the large office that was exclusively hers.
The office was so big you could play badminton in it.
The group looked around the office with delight in their eyes. Big windows, great sunlight, lots of space.
"So this is the kind of setup the General Commander gets?" Mo Xuan remarked, looking around. Then he added, "I wonder what the Vice Commander’s setup is like."
"It’s definitely a little smaller than the General Commander’s," Shi Feng said with a grin, throwing an arm around Mo Xuan’s shoulder.

The next day, they changed into civilian clothes and took a levitating car to their destination.
The people on the other end were waiting for them by the roadside. They were dressed respectably, but the words coming out of their mouths were anything but human.
"When those people get here, we’ll throw ’em into forced labor. If there are any girls, we brothers will have our fun first."
"Fucking those women in the basement isn’t fun at all. It feels like fucking a corpse. No fun."
One of them, smoking a cigarette, slowly exhaled a puff of white smoke and said, "There should be women. The person who sent us the message was a woman."
"We’ll have to have a real good time with them then."
While they were plotting how to toy with Lin Jingjing and Feng He, the two women in question were looking at their Star Rings when they suddenly let out a big sneeze.
"Who’s cursing our names?" Feng He said unhappily, rubbing her nose.
"I also suspect someone’s cursing me," Lin Jingjing agreed.
The two of them grumbled all the way to their destination. Before they even got out of the levitating car, they saw a group of men in cheap suits squatting by the roadside, smoking.
If they hadn’t come here with a specific purpose, they would have turned around and left the moment they saw them.
Cheap clothes, secondhand smoke, in a remote, filthy, and chaotic place—it was obvious that something was seriously wrong.
Not only that, but the salary they were offering was also ridiculously high.
Even if Huanle Group Co., Ltd was loaded, they would only pay such a high salary to technical personnel.
To employees who had made major achievements in their work.
Five thousand Star Coins a day. That was more than what some people made in a month.
This was obviously a scam.
Only a young person desperate to make money, who had never experienced the harsh realities of the world, would fall for it.
The group’s brows were furrowed as they got out of the levitating car and took in the filthy, chaotic surroundings.
Their dislike for this Huanle Group Co., Ltd grew even stronger.
"Are you here to apply for the job?" The men stood up from the ground, and their leader asked with a chuckle, his eyes raking up and down the two women.
