Chapter 160: Are You a Noob?
Chapter 160: Chapter 160: Are You a Noob?
Captain Li raised a hand, signaling for them to be quiet.
Once they had all quieted down, Captain Li answered their questions one by one.
"You’re going to the Capital Star for a new post. Food and lodging won’t be an issue at all, so don’t worry about it."
"Everyone has witnessed your abilities. The King will not treat you unfairly."
"Your mission is currently classified. You’ll find out once you arrive at the Capital Star."
’Why all the mystery? Is it because we’re so capable, they want us to do their dirty work—the kind of stuff that’ll make the entire Empire see us as traitors?’
Their hearts suddenly grew uneasy. ’Are they keeping it a secret to back us into a corner, to make it impossible for us to refuse this mission?’
He had expected them to be thrilled by the news, but their faces were ashen. They didn’t look happy at all.
Captain Li frowned. "Are you not happy?"
"Isn’t going to the Capital Star a great opportunity?"
The group nodded in agreement. "It is pretty great."
Their words said it was great, but their faces still showed no sign of joy. This left Captain Li completely baffled.
’Don’t they yearn to go to the Capital Star?’
"You don’t like the Capital Star?" Captain Li asked with a frown.
The group shook their heads again. Ever since they transmigrated here, they had been stuck at the First Corps Base. The most prosperous place they’d ever visited was the city center of B6 Star.
The Capital Star... that was the heart of the Empire. Everyone would break their necks just to get into that circle.
"We’ve never been off B6 Star, so we don’t know what the Capital Star is like," Lin Jingjing explained.
Besides, they were just a bunch of country bumpkins who had transmigrated here from Blue Star. Everything in this world was new to them.
It didn’t really matter to them whether they went to the Capital Star or not. As long as the five of them could stay together, that was all that mattered.
The five of them were inseparable. In their past lives, work had sent them to different cities, and their time together had grown increasingly scarce.
Then one reunion ended up wiping them all out. It was just absurd.
In a place where they were complete strangers, they could only trust each other.
"You’ll see when you get to the Capital Star," Captain Li said with a smile. "Go back and pack your things. You leave the day after tomorrow."
’The day after tomorrow? So soon?’
"Why the rush?" Shi Feng asked, frowning. "What does your King want us to do?"
’Such a rush... there must be something terrible waiting for us.’
"They’re not planning on selling us off, are they?" Gu Kaiwen said seriously, stroking his chin. ’If they really are, our only option is to run off to the neighboring Federation.’
’I saw on the Star Network that the benefits over there are pretty good. It’s just that their green card is hard to get.’
Captain Li’s face darkened. ’What in the world is going through these people’s minds?’
’Always thinking about useless nonsense.’
"What nonsense are you spouting?" Captain Li said. "Go back and pack your things. There’s a general assembly tomorrow."
"Oh..."
The group mumbled their acknowledgment and started walking toward the dorms, still discussing the matter along the way.
"We’re going to the Capital Star. Maybe we can look forward to it," Feng He said, unfazed. ’I heard the medical technology there is even more advanced.’
’If we really go, I have to study hard there!’
"I guess that’s all we can do," Mo Xuan said.
Just then, Shi Feng sighed and lamented, "I just hope we don’t run into that young master’s labs again. I’m seriously traumatized."
At these words, the other four fell silent.
Shi Feng was truly a jinx—absurdly so!
He ran into that young master’s labs wherever he went!
Every time they encountered one of those labs, they were swamped with trouble and faced mortal danger.
After a moment of silence, Lin Jingjing retorted wearily, "Shut your mouth..."
Having said her piece, she reached out, slung an arm around his shoulder, and pulled him into her embrace.
Because of her action, the 189-centimeter-tall Shi Feng was pulled sideways into her arms. With his head resting on her shoulder, Shi Feng ended up standing on one foot.
Lin Jingjing looked at his profile and said, "You jinx. You should stop saying such unlucky things."
"Alright, alright, I won’t say it again," Shi Feng agreed while struggling to get out of her hold. Standing like this was incredibly uncomfortable.
"Let me go first," Shi Feng said, pushing at her waist with his hand.
Lin Jingjing found his struggling dull, so she let him go and strode forward.
When they reached the dorm building, Lin Jingjing reminded the guys.
"Remember to pack properly when you get back to your rooms."
Then she pointed at the quiet Mo Xuan, who was standing a short distance away. "Especially you. You’re the most forgetful one."
Mo Xuan, having been called out, averted his gaze and refused to admit it. "When have I ever? Stop slandering me."
"Just remember to pack up all your personal belongings," Lin Jingjing reminded him.
Back in their dorms, they all began packing without a word. They packed everything away, leaving out only a single set of clothes for the next day.
Once they were done, they finally sat down to do their own things.
The dorm suddenly fell quiet. Lin Jingjing lay on her bed and opened the game she hadn’t touched in a long time, Star Soul.
After logging in, she planned to play a round to kill some time. She glanced at her friends list and noticed Captain Li was also online.
Captain Li really was a devoted fan of Star Soul. He played it every day whenever he had a spare moment.
[BEEP BEEP. Captain Li, want to play together?]
[Duo!]
Captain Li, who was in the middle of defending his base, glanced at the private message, then at the sender’s name.
He replied.
[Sure.]
Then he immediately surrendered and exited his match. As soon as Captain Li was out, Lin Jingjing invited him to her lobby.
[Which mode?]
[Either one is fine.]
Seeing this, Lin Jingjing looked at the options: Classic Mode and Limited Mode.
’I’ll see how this Limited Mode is played.’
She selected the mode and started the game. Upon entering, Lin Jingjing discovered that this Limited Mode was completely different.
Lin Jingjing stared at the unfamiliar interface, not understanding a thing.
[Captain Li, how do you play this?]
[This is my first time.]
Captain Li, who had already started building up his resources, felt his vision go black when he saw those two sentences in the chat window.
He quickly sent a message back.
[You’ve never played this before?]
[If you’ve never played, why did you pick this mode?!]
Lin Jingjing sent back a cute little emoji.
[Give me two minutes.]
"Feng He," Lin Jingjing, who was lying in bed, quickly sat up and called out. "Are you using your Star Ring?"
"You’re not, right? Let me borrow it!" Lin Jingjing said hurriedly as she jumped off her bed.
Feng He activated her Star Ring and asked, "What are you looking for?"
"How to play Star Soul’s Limited Mode."
Hearing this, Feng He quickly searched for it. After watching a two-minute tutorial video, Lin Jingjing had a rough idea of how to play.
Back in the game, ten percent of her base had already been destroyed.
Her opponent, who was particularly arrogant, was taunting Lin Jingjing in the public chat.
[Are you a bot? You suck so bad.]
[Just surrender if you can’t play.]
[Noob.]
