Chapter 506: It’s All Because of You

Chapter 506: Chapter 506: It’s All Because of You

"My men found out that person is one of Master Wen’s grand-disciples," An Zhihan said. "The original Master Wen only ever took on a single disciple in his entire life, who was also his grand-nephew. The wealthy circles of Xiangcheng respectfully refer to him as Little Master Wen. But this Little Master Wen has taken on quite a few disciples himself, in both Xiangcheng and A Tai. Supposedly, their skills are all over the place. Even Master Wen himself probably doesn’t know how many grand-disciples he actually has."

Su Qing was taken aback. "Is Master Wen’s disciple some kind of recruitment maniac? Does he just accept anyone?"

"That’s right. I heard that as long as someone is willing to learn the Feng Shui Skill from him, Little Master Wen will take them in, regardless of whether they have any talent. What’s more, I heard his apprenticeship fee is quite high, and his disciples have to send him gifts every month."

Su Qing understood. "So it’s a money-making scheme!"

An Zhihan smiled. "It looks that way to me, too."

Then, An Zhihan changed the subject. "Su Qing, have you ever had any run-ins with Master Wen’s disciples or grand-disciples?"

"How would I know?" Su Qing smiled and said, "Even Master Wen himself doesn’t know how many grand-disciples he has. I bet if he met one in Xiangcheng, he wouldn’t even realize it was his own grand-disciple."

An Zhihan couldn’t help but chuckle at her words. "That’s true. Still, you need to be careful. Regardless of their skill level, these Feng Shui Masters are more formidable than ordinary people. And their personalities vary greatly. If you come across one who’s petty and vengeful, you might get targeted for revenge without ever knowing how you offended them. I suspect you might have accidentally slighted this Master Zhang while you were in Xiangcheng."

"Maybe." Su Qing pursed her lips slightly. She thought of He Awei, the man she had killed in Xiangcheng, and a sliver of doubt crept into her mind. ’Could this incident have been caused by me killing He Awei?’

’But I covered all my tracks back then. Logically, it should have been impossible to discover. Or... do those Feng Shui Masters have some unknown techniques that led them to me?’

’And another thing. An Zhihan said Master Wen only had one disciple, a grand-nephew also named Wen. If that’s true, then He Awei couldn’t have been Master Wen’s disciple. But at the time, He Awei claimed he was. What’s going on?’

Su Qing mulled it over for a long time but couldn’t make sense of it.

"Oh, right. Stop investigating Master Zhang," Su Qing told An Zhihan. "We don’t want to attract their attention and bring trouble your way."

"Don’t worry. I’ll have my people keep an eye on things," An Zhihan said with a chuckle. "You don’t need to worry about me. Also, here is Master Zhang’s address in A Tai. I already had it looked up."

As he spoke, An Zhihan had Fang Lutian hand Su Qing an address. "For now, that Master Zhang is still over in A Tai and hasn’t made a move," he added. "If he comes to Beijing again, I’ll have someone let you know."

"Okay, thank you." Su Qing took the address, reminded An Zhihan to be careful once more, and chatted with Mr. Gong for a bit before she left.

「The next day」

The next day was the start of the new semester at Beijing University. Su Qing and Li Huan had returned to the dorm the previous night. By now, all their roommates had returned. Everyone was thrilled to see each other after a long winter break, sharing local delicacies they had brought back and swapping stories about their vacation.

At the same time, news of Jin Zhiwei’s death was spreading across Beijing University. Jin Zhiwei had been an excellent student and was very well-liked on campus. No one could have imagined that he would be murdered over the course of a single winter break.

Many people mourned for Jin Zhiwei, and his death became a topic of hushed discussion all over campus.

Then, that evening, there was a heavy pounding on the door of dorm room 206.

"Who’s that, knocking so hard this late at night?" Sun Xiaowen was closest to the door. Just as she was about to open it, she heard an angry girl’s voice from the hallway. "Su Qing, you get out here! Get out here right now!"

Li Huan exclaimed, "Liu Jiajia!"

Su Qing recognized Liu Jiajia’s voice as well. Before she could say anything, Li Huan hurried past Sun Xiaowen, yanked the door open, and shouted at Liu Jiajia in the hall, "Liu Jiajia, what the hell is wrong with you? Did Qingqing do something to provoke you? Do you even know her? You can’t just run over here and start trouble! Let me tell you, Qingqing is my cousin. If you dare try to bully her, I won’t let you get away with it."

"Li Huan, get out of my way." Liu Jiajia’s eyes were red, obvious signs that she had been crying. She glared at Li Huan. "I’m not looking for you today. I’m looking for Su Qing. Make her come out."

"Qingqing doesn’t even know you. You’re not friends. What business do you have with her?" Li Huan refused to give an inch, tilting her chin up at Liu Jiajia. The two had never gotten along, and seeing that Liu Jiajia was clearly not here on a friendly visit, Li Huan was not about to back down.

Liu Jiajia’s shouting had already attracted the attention of several nearby rooms. Doors creaked open as other students peeked out, wondering why someone was making a scene on the first day back. One of them, who recognized her, asked, "Liu Jiajia, what are you doing here? What’s going on?"

"Li Huan, move!" Liu Jiajia completely ignored the question. Her eyes were bloodshot with fury as she reached out to shove Li Huan.

But before Liu Jiajia’s hand could touch Li Huan, Su Qing stepped forward and caught her wrist. With a gentle push, she sent Liu Jiajia stumbling back a couple of steps. Su Qing hadn’t used much force, so Liu Jiajia only staggered for a moment without falling.

When she saw Su Qing, Liu Jiajia’s eyes grew even redder. She pointed a trembling finger at her and shrieked, "Su Qing, it’s all your fault! It’s all because of you! If it weren’t for you, Jin Zhiwei wouldn’t be dead! You’re the one who got him killed! It’s all your fault! I hate you so much!"

With that, Liu Jiajia broke down sobbing, crying and accusing Su Qing of being the one responsible for Jin Zhiwei’s death.

"Are you crazy, Liu Jiajia?" Li Huan exploded when she heard this. "What does Jin Zhiwei’s death have to do with Qingqing?" she yelled. "It’s not like she killed him! Go after the person who’s actually responsible! You’re being totally irrational!"

Li Huan couldn’t believe it. ’Why would Liu Jiajia come after Su Qing over Jin Zhiwei?’ Their roommates had only just found out after coming back to school that Jin Zhiwei was the male student who had stopped Su Qing after their final exams. But Su Qing had only met him that one time. Why on earth was Liu Jiajia targeting her?

"Exactly. Su Qing and Jin Zhiwei barely knew each other. You must be blaming the wrong person," Liu Mei added with a frown.

Liu Jiajia shot back resentfully, "Don’t you get it? If it weren’t for Su Qing, Jin Zhiwei wouldn’t be dead!"
