Chapter 329: Poison
Chapter 329: Chapter 329: Poison
Before Brother Qi could finish speaking, Su Qing stepped forward and kicked him hard. Unable to dodge, he slammed heavily into the wall. His back ached from the impact, while the spot where he was kicked erupted in excruciating pain.
"I’m... I’m from Xiangcheng. You have no right to do this to me." Brother Qi cowered in the corner, his body hunched as he watched Su Qing with dread. He wasn’t a coward, but he could truly see the killing intent in her eyes—a tangible aura that promised his death.
Brother Qi couldn’t understand why he was so terrified of a teenage girl. What he didn’t know was that in the apocalypse, Su Qing had slaughtered innumerable zombies and taken countless human lives. Even though she was in a new body now, if she didn’t deliberately conceal it, her killing intent was naturally thick enough to make one’s heart shudder. All his years in the Xiangcheng underworld were nothing compared to her.
"Out here in these remote mountains, it’s easy for someone to just disappear." Su Qing’s voice was light, but her words struck Brother Qi’s heart like a hammer, making it tremble violently. He stared at her in terror. This girl truly intended to kill him. She wasn’t bluffing.
He was absolutely certain.
"What do you want to ask?" He who understands the times is a hero, and Brother Qi had no intention of choosing death over surrender. ’Isn’t it good to be alive?’
"Two questions," Su Qing said, getting straight to the point. "First, where are the bodies of the people you murdered? Second, who ordered you to kidnap Cheng Beilin? Answer me truthfully. If there’s a single lie, feel free to test the consequences. I guarantee you’ll be satisfied."
’Satisfied my ass!’
Brother Qi wanted to curse. This was a blatant threat, but he had no choice but to endure it.
Taking a deep breath, Brother Qi said, "They were all thrown into a large pit about a mile and a half north of the plantation. The one who ordered me to kidnap Miss Cheng was An Zhiwei of the An Family."
Brother Qi was surprisingly straightforward, confessing everything at once.
Hearing this, Cheng Beilin clenched her fists. ’Of course. Of course, it was An Zhiwei.’
"An Zhiwei!" Cheng Beilin said furiously. "It really was her."
Su Qing turned to Cheng Beilin. "Don’t worry," she said. "Your older brother and your family will get justice for you."
"I know." Cheng Beilin nodded and looked at Su Qing gratefully. "Thank you, Qingqing. If it weren’t for you, I would have died here. My older brother and my parents... they would have never found me."
"It’s all over now," Du Haoran comforted Cheng Beilin softly.
Su Qing took out a pen and paper, untied Brother Qi’s ropes, and hauled him over to the only table in the cabin. "Write down everything," she ordered. "The entire story of how you kidnapped Cheng Beilin, in full detail. Then sign your name."
"Ah!" Internally, Brother Qi was completely against this. ’Isn’t this the same as signing a confession? I’m a member of the Hetian Association, but these Xiangcheng magnates are no pushovers. If they really go to the Hetian Association demanding answers, this signed confession will just make me cannon fodder.’
"Are you going to write or not?" Su Qing raised an eyebrow. "If you don’t, then I’ll just have to..."
Before Su Qing could finish, Brother Qi said hastily, "I’ll write! I’ll write it right now!"
Without another thought, he hurriedly wrote down a clear account of the kidnapping. He made sure to emphasize that he had only made this mistake because he was under orders from An Zhiwei of the An Family. He hoped that when the Cheng Family read this statement, they would direct the bulk of their anger toward the An Family.
But then he thought about the plantation being discovered. ’If Brother Song finds out, what will he do to me?’ His heart filled with apprehension.
Su Qing picked up Brother Qi’s statement, glanced over it, and handed it to Cheng Beilin. Then, she smiled at Brother Qi.
The sight of Su Qing’s smile sent a chill down Brother Qi’s spine, and his heart lurched with panic. Before he could react, Su Qing grabbed his chin and dumped a packet of powder into his mouth. She then grabbed a small waterskin and forced several gulps of water down his throat, making him swallow all of it.
It wasn’t just Brother Qi; even Cheng Beilin and Du Haoran were stunned by the sight.
"COUGH, COUGH, COUGH..." Brother Qi pounded his chest, asking in terror as he coughed, "What did you give me?"
He wanted to stick his fingers down his throat to throw up the powder, but before he could even move, Su Qing had swiftly tied him up again.
Su Qing then said nonchalantly, "Oh, nothing important. Just some powder to make sure you behave."
"What kind of drug is it?" To Brother Qi, Su Qing now looked like a demon. ’This damn woman, she’s completely unpredictable!’
"Oh, it’s nothing too serious," Su Qing said with a breezy expression. "You’ll just have a stomachache every three days, each time worse than the last. After it happens forty-nine times, well, then you can just drop dead."
Brother Qi stared at Su Qing in disbelief. ’How can this little hellion talk about a deadly poison so casually? And with that cheerful tone... I’m the one who’s going to die!’
"Oh, and one more thing," Su Qing said with a beaming smile. "Don’t even think about going to a hospital. The poison is undetectable. No doctor will diagnose you. They’ll just think you’re paranoid."
"You... you..." Brother Qi stammered, trembling with fear. "You’re treating a human life as if it’s worthless!"
With that, Brother Qi pointed at Cheng Beilin and Du Haoran. "They’re both witnesses! They saw you feed me poison!"
"We didn’t see a thing," Cheng Beilin and Du Haoran said in unison, staring up at the ceiling.
Brother Qi was speechless.
