Chapter 901: Chapter 899: A Mom Who Dreams of Striking It Rich Every Day (1)
"Xu Yue is one of our villagers. Look at how well he’s doing now; he’s even driving a BMW back."
"If I had ventured out like him after graduating high school, maybe I’d be like Xu Yue too. It’s such a regret when I think about it. I didn’t know much back then; who could have imagined so much? You have to admit, Xu Yue had foresight. It’s no wonder he got rich." Liang Xuefang spoke with regret in her eyes.
"Mom, our family’s doing alright," An Miao spoke up. "We’ve also bought a house in the county. Once it’s renovated, you can live in the city. Now that I’ve been accepted into college, I’ll work hard after graduation and take good care of you; it won’t be too bad."
"Look at your dad; he’s been working hard in renovations for so many years to buy a house in the county. That’s all hard-earned money, which is different from making big money in business," Liang Xuefang said. "If you want to make big money, you still have to do business and invest. Saving hard will never amass big money. Your dad doesn’t know how to be flexible; he just saves money instead of investing, thinking about finance. How can money make more money that way?"
Addressed suddenly, the lead role An Shuo Hai replied, "I don’t have a brain for investing and can’t learn from others how to do business, so I can only rely on saving. Besides, you only see those who’ve succeeded, not the countless who’ve failed. If you’re not capable, don’t mess with the unfamiliar, or you’ll only lose."
"Let’s not talk about distant matters. Take something nearby; a few years ago, a village in the county was demolished, and many people got hundreds of thousands overnight, only to get fooled into investing and ended up losing everything. They’re all regretful."
An Shuo Hai has always been a cautious and conservative person, knowing he doesn’t have the mind for it, so he never dreams of striking it rich.
Besides, his renovation business is going well now. He has a small team; big money can’t be made, but small money is still coming in. Collecting a bit more over the years, maybe in the future, they can buy a house in the provincial capital.
Although his wife always had dreams of getting rich, it was only talk, never action, so he didn’t mind.
Recently, Xu Yue from the same village came back, and the other party indeed looks dazzlingly successful outside.
He’s not someone who likes to show off but understands that many people, after making it big, want to flaunt it a bit. Such a mindset is understandable.
If he suddenly got rich one day, he’d never show off. He’d hide it well to avoid others coveting him.
He didn’t speak these thoughts out loud.
Of course, he didn’t think a pie would fall from the sky for him; it’s better to stick to working on renovations seriously.
"Forget it, it’s pointless trying to talk you and your son around."
Liang Xuefang had grown accustomed to this scenario, setting her gaze on her daughter, who was focused on eating. After staring for a while, she asked, "Xiao Chen, what do you think?"
Suddenly called upon, Ah Chen looked up, but before she could speak, Liang Xuefang asked again, "If mom wants to do business, would you support it?"
Xu Yue’s success had sparked a burning fire in Liang Xuefang’s heart.
She increasingly felt that not venturing out after graduating high school was a regrettable decision.
"Mom, do you know how to do business? What kind of business?" Ah Chen asked.
Just two sentences were enough to leave Liang Xuefang speechless. She hadn’t really thought about it, only knowing that business and investment could earn big money.
"I think even if you want to do it, think it through first," Ah Chen’s words fell, leaving Liang Xuefang somewhat displeased.
The commissioner was genuinely a little comfy blanket. Whatever Liang Xuefang said back then, she’d follow along, praising her. If Liang Xuefang was unhappy, she’d comfort her immediately. Liang Xuefang always said men don’t understand women and only cared about their ideas. Only this little comfy blanket understood her mom.
Lacking life experience due to her young age, the commissioner indeed felt sorry for Liang Xuefang when she saw her ideas shut down by dad and brother.
Aside from these moments, the family was rather harmonious.
The commissioner’s father and brother were both very good. There was no conflict in their family.
Dad An Shuo Hai was hardworking and reliable, and so was her brother. They just thought Liang Xuefang’s wild ideas were unrealistic, so they didn’t support her.
Liang Xuefang might dare to dream, but as for executing, she didn’t really have a plan, which, naturally, wasn’t convincing.
An Shuo Hai was the breadwinner in the family, so decisions on how to use family funds mainly listened to him, especially since he thought Liang Xuefang was particularly unreliable sometimes and wouldn’t entrust the money to her care.
If it went on like this, even if conflicts arose later for some reason, the commissioner’s life probably wouldn’t fluctuate much.
The problem arose when the two people capable of restraining Liang Xuefang met with an accident.
It was today, after heavy rain, that An Shuo Hai and An Miao met with misfortune. From then on, Liang Xuefang became the leader of the family, and the commissioner’s fate took a turn, marking the beginning of misfortune.
Today, after the heavy rain, An Shuo Hai and An Miao headed to the town and happened to pass by a river, where they found Yang Hongyu struggling in the water.
An Shuo Hai was a good person, who could swim. Upon seeing someone drowning, and it was a familiar face from the same village, he didn’t hesitate to jump in. The rainfall had caused the water level to rise, making the river deeper and more turbulent than usual. Yang Hongyu’s constant struggling in the water took all his strength to rescue.
After much difficulty, he dragged the person to the shore. Seeing Yang Hongyu being pulled up by An Miao on land, An Shuo Hai sighed in relief. However, unexpectedly, Yang Hongyu accidentally kicked him, causing the exhausted An Shuo Hai to fall back into the river.
An Miao, after putting Yang Hongyu aside, quickly jumped back in to rescue his father.
The outcome was tragic; father and son both drowned.
What made it worse was that Yang Hongyu never admitted being saved by the An father and son afterwards. Instead, he told the villagers that the An father and son had an accident while passing by the river, and he wanted to help but couldn’t.
No one doubted his words; they believed it and even thought Yang Hongyu was a good person.
Yang Hongyu lied because taking responsibility for two deaths terrified him, afraid of trouble. Conveniently, no one else saw, so he wanted to escape the guilt.
He was actually fishing in the river with two other village playmates, Jiang Xiangyang and Jiang Yue. When Yang Hongyu suddenly cramped and started drowning, they couldn’t grab him and ran away in fright when seeing him struggle in the water.
They knew Yang Hongyu was lying, but they ran off first, not wanting trouble. So they tacitly kept it secret.
The commissioner didn’t know the truth initially and only learned about it many years later when Yang Hongyu had a conflict with Jiang Xiangyang and Jiang Yue, and they exposed it.
The public was shocked, but it was too late.
