Sea Survival: My Luck is Off the Charts

Chapter 477: Reckless Fighting Style

Chapter 477 -475: Reckless Fighting Style

He didn’t move, and neither did Faye Yardley. However, restricted by the arena rules, if both parties remained still for an extended period, the challenger would automatically be deemed the loser.

The rules forced the old man to take the initiative and attack, which only deepened his hatred for Faye.

Faye could clearly feel the thick malice radiating from him. She found the old man utterly baffling and thought that if he couldn’t handle losing, he shouldn’t have stepped onto the arena. Even if it hadn’t been her, someone else would have challenged him eventually. Did he seriously climb into the arena expecting people to forfeit just because of his seniority? How entitled.

When he finally attacked, Faye moved as well. Relying on her agility, she dodged his strike a step ahead of him, circled around to his back, and delivered a fierce blow.

Bella had already returned from Cole Kensington’s arena. Seeing the lean old man, she furrowed her brow. If she remembered correctly, wasn’t this the same old geezer her sister had knocked off the arena earlier? Was he seeking revenge because he got beaten? Hmph. When her sister knocked him down again later, she definitely wouldn’t let him off the hook.

Sure enough, no matter how many underhanded tricks the old man pulled, he was ultimately kicked off the arena by Faye. Seeing him roll to a stop at the bottom edge of the ring, Faye regretted her leniency. She should have just ended him right there on the arena, ensuring she wouldn’t leave herself with a petty, grudge-holding liability.

However, as the old man stumbled away, she spotted a small figure trailing after him.

Faye retracted her gaze and downed a Physical Potion and an Energy Potion. Then, she sat back down cross-legged to continue her Cultivation of the Health Care Scripture, waiting for the final challenger to enter the ring.

Those who successfully defended their arena could proceed to the next round, though that would mean leaving this beginner zone. Faye had no intention of continuing to the next round. Challenging and defending took up far too much time. Since she didn’t want to miss the maritime survival event, she naturally knew when to quit while she was ahead.

For the final match, it wasn’t until well after the rest period ended that someone finally stepped onto the arena. Yet, the newcomer was defeated and surrendered in less than three moves, leaving swiftly and decisively. It left Faye completely dumbfounded.

Whatever the person’s motives were, Faye had successfully defended the arena ten times. The moment she stepped down, she received her rewards from the Smoke Person, who then asked if she wanted to participate in the next round. Upon her refusal, the Smoke Person of Arena 3 looked extremely regretful and mentioned that winning in the next round would yield even more good stuff. Seeing Faye unmoved, the Smoke Person sighed again and returned to his original position.

Faye stored the items in her backpack, feeling quite pleased. She hadn’t expected to gain direct Attributes just by stepping off the arena. It really was a great place for training.

Eamon squeezed through the crowd and said, “Sister, when Bella left just now, she said she would wait for us directly on the raft. Kingston is at Arena 9.”

When Faye followed Eamon to Arena 9, she saw Cole Kensington fighting an unusually muscular Piranha-folk.

Eamon whispered, “Sister, this arena has always been occupied by the Piranha-folk. I guess they wanted to monopolize an arena for the rewards, but Kingston challenged them.”

Faye could easily guess what happened next without Eamon needing to elaborate. Glancing around, she counted a total of twelve Piranha-folk. They were surrounding the arena, clearly intending to keep anyone else from going up.

Faye knew about the hatred between Cole Kensington and the Piranha-folk, but she couldn’t personally relate to it. Still, she wouldn’t deliberately oppose him. Even hatred could serve as a driving force for someone to grow stronger.

Faye watched Cole Kensington on the arena. After he finished off yet another opponent, she tossed a few potions onto the ring to show her support. Naturally, this earned her hateful and dissatisfied glares from the surrounding Piranha-folk. But who cared what they thought?

At this point, Faye felt that since she already had so many enemies, a few more wouldn’t make a difference. Mainly because once they left this place, it would be extremely difficult for these people to track her down at sea. It would be best if she could lure them out the gates of Nightfall Citadel and finish them all off right at the docks. Of course, if Cole Kensington could eliminate a few more on the arena, that would be even more perfect.

Cole Kensington fought on the arena with utter disregard for his own life. None of the people who exchanged blows with him survived; they didn’t even have the chance to yell out a surrender. This brutal fighting style made everyone instinctively avoid the area, except for the red-eyed Piranha-folk.

Faye noticed that the eyes of the Smoke Person at Arena 9 grew brighter and brighter as he watched Cole Kensington. Despite his blurry face, Faye could practically read the word “excitement” written all over it.

She wanted to remind Cole Kensington to show a little restraint, but on second thought, she decided it was better to stay silent. Both sides were already seeing red. If he lost that indomitable momentum, the outcome of the match might become unpredictable.

So, Faye stood guard by the edge of the arena, waiting until Cole Kensington successfully defended his spot ten times and claimed his rewards before quickly leading him away.

Faye didn’t care at all about the stalkers trailing behind them, but Eamon was extremely nervous. He stuck close to Faye, absolutely terrified that if he fell behind, someone would slit his throat.

Even after they exited Nightfall Citadel, those people merely followed them without showing any intention of making a move. Supporting Cole Kensington, Faye deliberately slowed her pace and even stopped for two minutes. Yet, those people simply stood at the gates of Nightfall Citadel, watching them leave without approaching.

They boarded the raft without any incidents. Faye chose to head back, and those people still didn’t follow.

“Eamon, take Kingston back so he can get a good rest,” she instructed.

“Will do!” Eamon had completely relaxed by now, feeling entirely at ease.

Meanwhile, Bella stood at the door of the room, waving at Faye. “Sister, Sister, hurry up! I have something good to show you.”

Once Faye walked over, Bella eagerly pulled out a fragment and handed it to her.

[Unknown Fragment: It’s called unknown for a reason. You’ll only know its use after collecting them all. 1/8]

“Where did you get this?”

“I got it from that old man. He even tried to kidnap me into his vehicle, so I took the opportunity to finish him off. I looted all of this from him.” Bella pointed with a beaming smile at a pile of items sitting in the living room.

“Impressive,” Faye offered a sincere compliment.

“As long as you don’t think I’m causing trouble, Sister.”

Faye stored the fragment in her private inventory. That way, it shouldn’t inexplicably vanish again, right?

As for the rest of the loot, Faye told Bella to pick whatever she liked and take it. Bella shook her head. “No, aside from a Sharp Little Knife, I have no use for any of that old man’s stuff. You should just handle it yourself, Sister.”

Faye hummed in acknowledgement and began carefully sorting through the items. As expected of someone who managed to defend an arena up to the ninth round, he actually had two unused Top-grade Body Refining Pills left, along with five Energy Stones and a stack of miscellaneous vouchers.

“By the way, where is his vehicle?” she asked.
