Chapter 466: Reward, Give it a Twist
Chapter 466 -464: Reward, Give it a Twist
[Twist Egg: Come and give it a twist! You’ll find unexpected joy.]
[Refined and Virtuous: It really is a heart. How about it? You’ll be absolutely satisfied if you replace your own with it.]
[Mask: Doesn’t everyone have a few masks they wear? Put this on, and no one will see the falsehood that lies beneath.]
[Human Skin Mask: Come on, put me on! Experience a different life. An absolute must-have for any mischief-maker.]
Faye Yardley fell silent as she looked over the rewards one by one.
‘They aren’t as good as I’d hoped, but they’re definitely not bad either.’
She touched her chest. ‘My own brave heart is better than any so-called ‘Refined and Virtuous’ one.’
This Dungeon run had been incredibly fruitful. The thing was, it felt like she hadn’t done anything at all, and the items she’d given away were trivial to her.
She glanced at the bracelet on her wrist. ‘Mrs. Shepherd was so generous. A great item that gives +1 charm.’
‘Right, I should take a look at Mr. Shepherd’s painting.’
She took it out of her backpack and unrolled it.
[Derek Shepherd’s Painting: Interested in painting? Take a closer look; you’ll find plenty of inspiration~ Also, don’t underestimate me, or you’re dead.]
Faye looked at the painting but couldn’t make heads or tails of it. Still, she didn’t dare underestimate it. ‘Perhaps it’s like that Inheritance Scroll I got before, but while that one works for any ‘fated’ person, this one is specifically for people who like to paint?’
She put everything into her private storage except for the Twist Egg.
“Sister, you’re back! You’re so early this time. Have you eaten lunch? I’ll go prepare something for you.”
Faye looked up at the sky, then down at her watch. It was true. She’d left in the morning, and the Dungeon had gone so smoothly that it wasn’t even 1:00 PM yet.
“No need, I just ate. I’m stuffed.”
As she spoke, she took out the Twist Egg, ready to see what kind of surprise could supposedly bring people joy.
With a twist, the capsule popped open.
A bottle of “Happy Water” shot out from the small capsule with a FIZZ, followed by two plump bamboo rats, each clutching a bamboo mushroom.
Willow, standing nearby, snatched one in each hand. “Sister, these are excellent ingredients. If you don’t want to eat them now, I’ll keep them in the cultivation room.”
“Go ahead and raise them. Have Eamon see if he can cultivate the bamboo mushrooms.”
“Okay.”
The bottle of Happy Water had the two large words “Happy Water” written plainly on the label. The liquid inside was crystal clear, looking no different from mineral water.
‘How joyful,’ she thought sarcastically.
Faye had no desire to experience that kind of joy, so she tossed it to her brother.
She had nothing better to do, so she opened the other Twist Egg.
In addition to another bottle of Happy Water, a large handful of “I Want It, I Want It” candies popped out, and finally, there was even a Pirate Ship Experience Ticket.
Faye thought for a moment, trying to figure out which of her friends would actually enjoy something like this. After racking her brain, she could only think of one person: Master Veridian.
So, she sent the Happy Water and the Experience Ticket over to the old master.
Just then, Eamon came over with a happy expression, carrying a plate of snacks. “Sister, Sister! The snack tree started growing snacks, and the Milk Tree bore fruit, too! Quick, try them!”
“That was fast.”
“Well, it’s actually been a few days, and we have the bonus from the cultivation room.”
Faye looked at the snacks. She had to admit, the ones from the snack tree were as beautiful as flowers and carried a faint floral scent. She picked up a light pink, flower-shaped one and was surprised to find it had the texture and taste of a liqueur-filled chocolate.
Next, she opened the small cap on a fruit from the Milk Tree. The rich aroma of milk wafted out. She took a sip. It had a strong milky flavor with a light sweetness—truly better than any brand of milk she’d ever had.
“These are delicious. Does it produce a lot?”
“Tons. It’s a very fast grower.”
She had Eamon harvest all of them. Adding in some other fruits and vegetables, Faye sent out Gifts to several of her large group chats, limiting each person to one claim.
Of course, she sent separate packages to her close friends so they could all have a taste.
RING RING RING~
“Mr. Zephyr Sterling, was it good?”
Zephyr Sterling got straight to the point. “I haven’t eaten it yet, but thank you. I was just calling to ask what you sent my master earlier. He was as happy as a little kid, and then he just vanished.”
Faye let out a small “ah.” “It was a bottle of Happy Water and a Pirate Ship Experience Ticket. The Master probably went to ride the pirate ship.”
Now that he had a clear answer, Zephyr Sterling could finally relax a bit. He just never would have guessed that his master, at his age, would enjoy an amusement park ride like a pirate ship.
‘We’re on this raft every day, and just a few days ago we were dealing with storms and massive waves. Isn’t that more thrilling than a pirate ship?’
“I see. Well, I won’t disturb you any further.”
Zephyr Sterling decisively hung up. He was afraid that if the call went on any longer, he wouldn’t be able to stop himself from asking about the Tree Eye on behalf of Henry Lewis.
‘Can’t put her in a difficult position,’ he thought. ‘Best to end the call as soon as I got my answer.’
Faye found Zephyr Sterling’s behavior a bit odd today, but she didn’t press the issue. ‘Everyone has a few bad days a month, right?’
‘You have to be understanding and respectful.’
Faye didn’t bother checking the group chats or the public screen, completely ignoring the ripples she had caused.
‘Cole Kensington and Lucy White won’t be back anytime soon, so what should I do now?’
‘Maybe I’ll go check out Dungeon No. 4 while I’m at it?’
She went out to the terrace and sat down, brewing herself a pot of Flower Tea. ‘Enjoying life doesn’t mean wasting time,’ she mused, and so she took out her fishing rod.
Fishing for chests and sipping tea in the warm afternoon breeze, Faye felt that her life was pretty good.
But while she was leisurely enjoying the good life, many others were struggling on the brink of death.
“Damn it, where the hell are the last two Unknown Fragments?!” Logan Langdon slammed his fist on the table, shattering it instantly.
He hadn’t been this anxious before. After all, his development speed was definitely top-tier. But then he heard Faye Yardley’s server-wide announcement, and he instantly tensed up.
He had to speed things up. He couldn’t let Faye Yardley keep progressing like this.
‘If she really pulls ahead of me, how am I supposed to compete?’
While the two of them weren’t exactly enemies, they certainly weren’t on friendly terms.
“Chloe, how much longer until you can perform the next calculation?”
Chloe Hughes gave him a soothing smile. “About two more days should do it. Logan, don’t be so anxious. You’re not that far behind Faye Yardley. Just look at the individual power rankings—you’ll surpass her soon.”
Logan Langdon took a deep breath. “None of that matters until I’ve actually surpassed her. I know. This has been hard on you, Chloe. Go get some rest. You need to restore your Spirit so the next calculation doesn’t damage your foundation.”
With a sharp tug, Faye Yardley pulled a metal box out of the water.
“Hee hee, today’s haul is as great as always.”
This was already her third metal box of the afternoon.
Willow Yardley, sitting across from her, was also delighted. “Sister, you have the best luck.”
