Chapter 413 - 411: Be Gentle, Hospital Security Upgraded
Chapter 413: Chapter 411: Be Gentle, Hospital Security Upgraded
Wrapped up tightly, Zachary Pierce gestured to the other two. He walked to the door himself, lowered his voice, and asked, "Who is it? Can’t you leave us alone? This place is ours now."
"Just wanted to ask if you guys want lunch. If you do, it’s only one coin per person."
"No thanks. For that price, I could eat two meals outside." Zachary Pierce had actually overheard other Evolved Zombies mention the prices, though he didn’t know the specifics. Still, it was a safe bet to bring it up now.
"It’s raining out there. Going outside is dangerous."
"Skipping one or two meals won’t kill us."
The person outside clearly hadn’t expected that answer. They muttered a few curses before leaving resentfully.
Faye Yardley gave him a thumbs-up. She hadn’t realized he could alter his voice, mimicking someone after hearing them just once.
For now, this place could serve as their base.
It was just that the rain outside seemed to be getting heavier and heavier.
The three of them remained silent inside the room. Faye Yardley took out another bedsheet, spread it over the sofa, and lay down on it.
Although she was a little worried about the two who had gone out, she had full confidence in their abilities.
She needed to rest when she could. But after sleeping all night yesterday, just lying around today wasn’t exactly comfortable. Faye Yardley sat up again and began to circulate her Health Care Scripture.
Zachary Pierce walked over and handed her a green pill. Faye Yardley gave him a suspicious look, but when she took it, she realized it was a pill from a system-approved lab, designed to enhance Inner Strength vitality.
"We had just finished researching it when we entered this Dungeon. I forgot to give it to you yesterday. Try it. If it’s useful for you, I can provide a regular supply when we get back."
This pill could only be used by people with Inner Strength, so its application was quite limited.
"Thanks." Faye Yardley popped it into her mouth. System-certified items were truly effective. When she circulated her Health Care Scripture again, she felt the Energy flow even more smoothly and actively than before.
After one Grand Circulation, [Constitution +1].
Faye Yardley blinked, then thought it was normal. After all, she had been continuously practicing the Health Care Scripture. After her initial attribute increase, there hadn’t been any change for a long time. She must have just reached the final threshold.
Today was also the day the leaderboards changed. Faye Yardley had definitely felt a little off after the Constitution bonus from the rankings disappeared. It was a 5-point attribute value, after all, which was quite a lot.
Now that she had regained a point—and one that was truly her own—her mood improved considerably.
Of course, she wouldn’t tell anyone about the changes to her body’s Attributes. This time, the leaderboards had given her 5 points in agility and 4 in Strength. Cooped up in this room, the effects of her agility attribute were impossible to see anyway.
KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK~
Someone was knocking again. Zachary Pierce deliberately stomped his feet heavily in annoyance, walked to the door, and stopped. "Who is it? Will you ever stop!"
"We’re from downstairs! Our time is up tomorrow. Since you’re new, you want the furniture in our room?"
"No. It’s only a month. We can rough it."
The rejection was so blunt it silenced the person outside. ’Everyone’s so stingy,’ he thought. ’Looks like I was the only sucker when I first got here.’ How frustrating.
Zachary Pierce snorted, then stomped heavily back to the sofa. He plopped down and grumbled, "Is there no end to this? Can’t a person get a moment’s peace?"
Nearby, Faye Yardley watched Zachary Pierce’s performance. She had never seen this side of him. ’People really are multifaceted,’ she thought.
Caleb Colby tiptoed to the door and pressed his ear against it, not moving even after he heard footsteps retreating outside.
Meanwhile, Cole Kensington had once again followed Paul’s shadow into the hospital.
He first went to check on the female zombie who had received two injections yesterday. Her skin seemed to have regained a bit of its fair complexion, and her eyes were no longer completely black—a sliver of white was now visible. She just looked dazed.
Paul, however, looked very pleased. "Good. Give her another shot to stabilize it."
The man in the white coat beside him grunted in agreement. He walked straight to the hospital bed, grabbed a handful of the female zombie’s hair, and before she could react, plunged the syringe in his other hand into her temple.
He pushed the orange-yellow substance in all at once, and the female zombie collapsed limply.
"Tsk, be gentle. Amy quite likes her looks."
This time, the man in the white coat spoke directly. "Remember to tell Mrs. Sheldon that the money on her account is running low."
His words made Paul uncomfortable. He snorted.
Cole Kensington took the opportunity to move through the shadows of other approaching Evolved Zombies. He reached the hospital lobby, and while other Evolved Zombies were entering, he tossed two bodies into a corner behind a sofa. Then, he quickly darted back into Paul’s shadow.
The two bodies were indeed discovered quickly. The bald man, in particular, seemed to be a well-known figure, as news swiftly reached Paul on the second floor.
Paul cursed and ran out immediately. He vaulted over the second-floor railing, landed, and ran to the sofa area. When he saw Amy lying on the sofa with a snapped neck, he swore a blue streak.
"Doctor, hurry up and reattach his head! Then give him the injection! Quick, quick, quick!"
Seeing the surrounding doctors not speeding up at all, Paul roared, "Goddammit, all of you, move faster! If you can’t save him, you can all wait for Mrs. Sheldon’s wrath!"
Evidently, the name "Mrs. Sheldon" was still very effective. Amy was quickly carried away. The other body, which had Caleb Colby’s face, was ignored.
Paul was about to follow the others upstairs when he stepped back to take a closer look at the other corpse. He cursed again. "Take this one, too. Reattach the head."
"I’ll leave them to you. I’m going to find Mrs. Sheldon."
One of the men in a blue coat stopped Paul. "You should wait. Let’s report to Mrs. Sheldon after we’ve reattached the heads, given the injections, and seen if their conditions stabilize."
’Where could Amy have run into trouble?’
’It could have only happened at Mrs. Sheldon’s house. That means Mrs. Sheldon is home alone—how dangerous!’ Paul couldn’t wait. "You lot, hurry up! I have to go check on Mrs. Sheldon. If anything happens to her, Rhovan won’t be able to bear the consequences."
Cole Kensington didn’t follow Paul. Instead, he followed the doctors toward the operating room. He never would have thought that Evolved Zombies could perform such delicate surgery. The process was just extremely bloody—flesh torn open, meridians stripped away...
He didn’t follow them into the operating room. He turned and went to the medicine storage room instead, stole two vials of the orange-yellow substance, and quickly left the hospital.
Unexpectedly, the hospital had activated its highest level of security. Everyone entering or leaving had to be inspected and sprayed with disinfectant. The measures were several notches stricter than before.
Several Evolved Zombies were clamoring to leave, but the hospital security didn’t let a single one go, even subjecting them to stricter inspections.
