Chapter 391 - 389: Die for Me, Bountiful Harvest
Chapter 391: Chapter 389: Die for Me, Bountiful Harvest
Faye Yardley’s phone was blowing up, but she was in the middle of a delicate balancing act. She couldn’t risk answering and disrupting the equilibrium inside her.
At first, Zephyr Sterling hadn’t thought of Faye Yardley as a reckless person. ’Surely after getting something like that, she would study it first before acting, right?’
After all, she had hesitated when he told her to take it just moments ago.
But when she didn’t answer his calls later, he started to get anxious.
Master Veridian glared at his eldest disciple. "Honestly, why must you always give me something to worry about?"
Zephyr Sterling: ...
It wasn’t just Willow Yardley and Bella Yardley who were affected; even Franklin Yardley, far away on Conch Isle, felt the impact.
Fortunately, he was already sitting in a chair, but he could no longer focus on the meeting.
The sharp individuals in the meeting naturally noticed something was off with him. However, he had always just recorded their meeting’s content and never interfered with the outcome, so they all insisted on finishing the meeting.
But before they could ask about Franklin Yardley’s condition after the meeting ended, he had already left in a hurry.
Conch Isle was also shrouded in dark clouds, with lightning flashing and thunder roaring.
This was the first time these people had encountered such severe weather since arriving on the island.
Once Willow Yardley had the strength to stand, she saw that the range of the chilly air at the top of the stairs had shrunk.
Lucy White climbed directly upstairs. The cold air now only reached the doorway of the room.
She sat leaning against the doorway and peered through the crack held open by the Bramble. Inside, she saw her older sister completely entangled in green and brown vines. Chilly air was seeping from her body through the gaps in the foliage.
She whispered softly, "You’ve got this, sis~ Our lives are in your hands, you know."
Cole Kensington appeared by her side at some point and pulled her to her feet. "Let’s go. Don’t disturb your sister. She’ll be fine."
As she was being dragged down the stairs, Lucy White couldn’t take it anymore. "Can you be a little more gentle?"
At this moment, Faye Yardley, of course, knew she had been too reckless. Thankfully, her vines and Bramble had helped, pulling her back from the endless, icy cold.
Then, a tug-of-war began.
When she regained a little control over her body, Faye Yardley used all of it to drive the Inner Strength and Magic inside her, desperately circulating the Health Care Scripture.
’There’s nothing I can’t do. What can one tiny little worm do to me?!’
’Just die!’
Right now, Faye Yardley’s raft was relying entirely on the Energy Protection Shield to block the hail.
Cole Kensington would occasionally go out to shoot down the hail above the raft, returning to rest when he was exhausted.
After all, no one knew how long it would be before Faye Yardley woke up. He had to keep the Energy Protection Shield’s energy from being completely depleted.
When Lucy White was also able to rush out of the raft to help, the weight on Cole Kensington’s chest was finally lifted.
He knew very well how much Faye affected Willow and Lucy White. For Lucy White to be able to come out and help meant that Faye’s condition was improving.
Faye Yardley’s condition was indeed improving. She wouldn’t let the Cryo-Marrow Worm grow inside her; she wanted it to die a worthy death, to be completely converted into fuel for her body’s cultivation.
As she was now, one could say she had gathered the power of three sources to crush the Cryo-Marrow Worm. ’Die, you little worm!’
The ringing of her phone echoed relentlessly in her mind.
Faye Yardley had no time to answer, but when she found a spare moment of strength, she sent a single reply to all callers: "I’m fine. Don’t worry."
When Logan Langdon saw this message, his expression shifted again.
After seeing it, Ethan Yardley, Zephyr Sterling, and the others naturally breathed a huge sigh of relief. They had been afraid she’d had an accident.
Since she was able to reply, it meant there was truly no major problem.
"Why did a sudden storm hit the island today? The lightning was so thick, it snapped a tree in front of our factory that would take three people to hug. Are you all okay at home?"
Leo Sloan’s wife, Patricia Taylor, handed him a clean towel. "You should dry the rain from your hair first. It’s fine. It looks like the thunder and lightning are mostly over. See? There aren’t as many dark clouds in the distance anymore."
Annie ran down from upstairs. "Daddy, Mr. Yardley fell down when he got home just now."
Leo Sloan was stunned. He looked up at the sky outside the window again; indeed, there were far fewer dark clouds than when he had seen it from the factory earlier.
Although it was night, the flashes of lightning illuminated the sky, making it as bright as day and allowing one to see clearly.
"Are you going to check on Mr. Yardley?" Patricia Taylor asked, looking at her husband.
Leo Sloan nodded. "Yeah, I’ll feel better if I go check on him. He’s right next door anyway, it’s very close."
Just as Leo Sloan was going to see Franklin Yardley, Wyatt Thorne also arrived with two assistants carrying medical kits.
"Mayor Thorne."
"Oh, Sloan. Here to see Franklin, are you?"
"Yes."
The four of them entered the house together.
Franklin Yardley looked completely fine. When he saw them arrive, he just invited them to sit down, but he refused any kind of physical examination.
"I’m fine. I’ve probably just been working around the clock lately, and my body decided to protest. I’ve rested for a bit now and I’m pretty much okay. No need to waste medical resources on something so minor."
Wyatt Thorne disagreed. "Franklin, you should still let them take a look. No matter how precious medicine is, can it be more precious than you? You are the contact person left by the Island Master. We can’t have anything happen to you."
Franklin Yardley was helpless. He knew nothing was wrong with him, but meeting the worried gazes of Wyatt Thorne and Leo Sloan, he was suddenly overcome with a feeling of being deeply touched.
「Two days later, at dawn.」
The hail that had been pummeling those surviving at sea had completely stopped.
It seemed that aside from the extreme cold, there was nothing else.
Faye Yardley looked at her listless vines and Bramble, her heart aching for them.
With the help of that Cryo-Marrow Worm and her plants, Faye Yardley’s Constitution and Strength stats had both broken the 50-point mark. Overall, her personal Attribute gains were: Constitution +5, Strength +6, agility +3, and Spirit +3.
Besides this, although she hadn’t awakened the Ice Attribute, her Illusion Magic Energy now contained Ice Ability.
By anyone’s standards, this was a massive gain.
But seeing her vines and Bramble on the verge of withering to death, she couldn’t feel happy.
She took out two large barrels of Flower Dew and placed the vines and Bramble inside them respectively.
’Although this wasn’t the type of energy Bramble needed, it was better than nothing.’
"Bramble, do you want to go under the sea? I’ll take you down. I’m free anyway, so killing some strange fish to replenish your energy should help you recover faster."
"I’m going too, sis!" Lucy White immediately said. "I can use the Water-Repelling Pearl if I can’t hold on."
"Okay."
Having absorbed an entire barrel of Flower Dew, Bramble was now just a tiny sprout. Faye Yardley added another large barrel for the vines, then grabbed Bramble and jumped directly into the hole broken in the ice next to the raft.
Lucy White and Cole Kensington followed right after her.
Willow Yardley watched the water in the ice hole gradually calm, then turned and went back inside the cabin to look at the vines soaking in the large barrel. "You have to recover quickly."
"MEOW~"
"Blackwood, you want to go down too?"
Meow~
