Chapter 335: Welcome Back to the Clown’s Amusement Park
Chapter 335: Chapter 335: Welcome Back to the Clown’s Amusement Park
A procession holding all sorts of bizarre instruments was playing, accompanied by various juggling acts.
In the procession was a towering float, and seated inside was a clown—a clown Faye Yardley felt was very familiar.
The moment Faye Yardley looked at the clown, he looked back at her.
The instant their eyes met, the smile on the clown’s face grew even more exaggerated.
The next moment, Faye Yardley found herself on the float, and a wave of cheers erupted from the crowd.
"It’s starting, it’s starting!"
"The selection is so fast this time! Pick me, pick me!"
"I’m so jealous! Clown, pick me, pick me!"
All sorts of voices filled the air. Faye was astonished; everyone, whether on the streets or on the rooftops, was shouting for him to pick them.
’So... I’ve been chosen?’
Soon, a shy little boy with rabbit ears appeared beside Faye Yardley. His eyes sparkled as he looked at the clown, his adoration and excitement at being chosen plain to see.
The number of people around them kept increasing, but the float never felt crowded.
Men and women, young and old—there seemed to be no standard for the clown’s selections. People were chosen simply because he wanted to.
Amidst the cheerful music and the cheers of the crowd, they passed through three major streets, and the clown selected a total of 10 people.
The clown finally spoke. "We have enough people. Are you ready to have a fun time?"
"Ready!"
"We’ve been ready for ages."
"Hurry, hurry, I can’t wait anymore!"
The clown looked at Faye Yardley. "Honored guest, are you ready?"
Faye Yardley asked directly, "Can you tell me what the game is first?"
"Why, it’s the Clown’s Amusement Park, of course. Hasn’t our guest already enjoyed it once before?"
Faye Yardley’s expression almost cracked.
’Dungeon No. 5, the Clown’s Amusement Park... Since when was that a place for having fun?’
’I only managed to clear it by a stroke of luck.’
’So what’s wrong with these people?’
’They’re all so desperate to participate, men and women, young and old. Are they crazy?’
Soon, Faye Yardley felt the scene before her eyes change again.
As expected, she had entered the Clown’s Amusement Park.
But this time felt very different from when she had entered using a Dungeon Invitation Card.
The system hadn’t come with her.
She couldn’t call up her inventory, which was enough to make anyone panic.
Faye Yardley didn’t know what was happening to the others, but a blue light enveloped her body, and the clown’s voice rang out.
"Ah, so you are the guest invited by the Young City Lord. In that case, you will receive special protection during this visit. Even if this wisp of your spiritual power is cut down, it will not disappear from you. Please, enjoy the happiness the park has to offer to your heart’s content."
As the clown’s voice faded, a different kind of lively noise and screaming filled her ears.
Faye Yardley then noticed that the other nine people were all waiting at the entrance to the amusement park.
"Don’t be afraid, young lady. Even if you fail in here, you’ll only lose a wisp of spiritual power. You’ll have a headache for a few days, but you’ll be fine after some rest." An old bear-man looked at Faye Yardley and spoke kindly. "Even so, if we end up in the same event later, this old man won’t be holding back on any of you."
Faye Yardley nodded with a smile to show she understood, then thanked him sincerely. She was starting to get a clearer picture of the situation.
’The way these people entered the amusement park is different from how I did back when I was at sea.’
’They—including my current self—are just manifestations of a wisp of spiritual power from their main bodies.’
’That’s why they play so crazily.’
’Is this like a death simulation ride?’
’The winners must get a special reward.’
’Why didn’t I get one back then?’
’Oh, wait, I did get rewards. After clearing it, besides other things, I even got a +1 to my agility attribute.’
"Miss, can I team up with you?" the little rabbit-eared boy asked, his face full of hope as he looked at her.
Faye Yardley glanced at the others, then agreed, "Sure."
Hearing her agree, the old bear-man said with a hint of pity, "If you team up with this little rascal, you won’t be able to do a lot of the attractions. Kids aren’t allowed on many of the thrilling rides."
As he spoke, the amusement park gates swung open, and the ten of them entered smoothly.
The park was packed with people. The moment they entered, everyone else vanished, leaving only the rabbit-eared boy.
"Miss, my name is Kian Quill. What’s yours? What should we play first?"
"Faye Yardley. Let’s go play whatever you want."
"How about the bumper cars? If you’re with me, I can go on that ride."
Faye Yardley smiled. "Then let’s go."
’Bumper cars... I didn’t get to ride them last time.’
Although it was crowded, the line moved quickly, and it was their turn in no time.
"So, you’re together? Then you’ll have to take one of the two-seater cars over there."
"Okay, okay." Kian Quill was clearly excited. He pulled Faye Yardley over, picked a bright red bumper car, and jumped in.
Faye Yardley said bluntly, "Get out of the driver’s seat, or we’re not riding."
Kian Quill grumbled a bit but obediently moved to the small child’s seat on the side.
Without hesitation, Faye Yardley swung her long legs over and sat down in the driver’s seat.
The bumper car then shot forward like an arrow loosed from a bow, charging directly into the main arena.
CRASH!
With a loud bang, Faye Yardley, to her own surprise, immediately smashed the blue bumper car in front of her to pieces the moment she entered.
Her own bumper car was sent flying from the impact before landing heavily.
On its way down, it crashed through and shattered two more cars.
Hahaha...
Ahhhh...
The two completely different sounds swirled around her ears.
The sound of CRASH, CRASH, CRASH also filled the air.
Faye Yardley gripped the steering wheel, weaving through the arena with the grace of a bumper car god.
Beside her, Kian Quill was doing nothing but giggling and constantly urging Faye Yardley, "Crash into them! Crash into them!"
Watching her skillfully weave through the swarming bumper cars without a single collision left Kian Quill stunned. "Miss Yardley, you’re amazing! How are you not hitting anyone? Crash into them! Bumper cars are for bumping!"
"Shut up!"
Faye Yardley naturally trusted her own instincts more than Kian Quill.
Her bumper car seemed to have been weakened by that first violent collision; its frame was no longer very sturdy. ’Damn it,’ she thought, ’if someone hits us a couple more times, we’ll probably suffer the same fate of being torn apart.’
The bumper car getting smashed was one thing, but she and Kian Quill were still inside it.
’I can’t get knocked out before I’ve even cleared a single event.’
If nothing else, her competitive spirit wouldn’t allow her to be knocked out of the game like this.
So she truly put in her all, spinning the steering wheel in her hands so fast it felt like it could create sparks.
’As for the brakes?’
’What are those? They don’t exist.’
