Chapter 324: Chapter 324: A 4/5 Chance and, Oh, a Golden Treasure Chest
"Skill Books? They’d be willing to sell those? Have you tried acquiring any normal Skill Books? Give one a try."
Shawn Lawler gave a wry smile. "I’ve tried the normal ones, but our system here doesn’t recognize them. They’re useless. But there was a prompt saying the Skill Book’s level isn’t high enough."
Faye Yardley grew thoughtful, then said, "If they’re willing to sell, and the price is reasonable, we can take it."
"Understood, thank you, Boss. Miss Summers is mostly finished with the qipao and was hoping you could take a look and offer some suggestions." As Shawn Lawler spoke, he gestured to Laura Summers beside him, and next to her, a wooden mannequin dressed in a dark green qipao.
Laura Summers greeted her with a gentle expression. "Boss, the mannequin’s measurements are Lilia’s."
"It’s lovely. Thank you for your hard work. I don’t have any specific feedback, but since you’re designing it for Lilia, you don’t need to be too conservative."
"Understood. I’ll keep that in mind."
They asked a few more questions about how everyone on the island was doing, then ended the call.
Being able to contact them anytime was a great relief.
Suddenly, Faye Yardley slapped her forehead in annoyance. ’How could I have forgotten?’
’If someone could use a special fishing rod to snatch away the Occupation Order that was about to appear in Tiberius’s hands, then I can definitely use one to fish out the Silver Treasure Chest.’
’Even if it doesn’t work, I have to at least give it a try.’
With that, she decided to get off the raft.
"Faye, are you still going over there? Shouldn’t we deal with the matter of that Token first?"
Cole Kensington’s words stopped Faye Yardley in her tracks. "You’re right. I’ll check the trading market first to see if that Island Occupation Order has shown up."
She opened the trading market, but as expected, found nothing.
’After all, who wouldn’t want to own their own island?’
’Even she herself hadn’t been able to resist the temptation and had used a Legendary Island Order.’
’The string of problems that came with owning an island was a matter for another day.’
RING RING RING~
She answered the call and saw Zachary Pierce on the other end, his face etched with exhaustion. "Mr. Pierce, what happened to you? Are you alright?"
"I’m fine. I almost died during the event. It’s a good thing you called me. Alright, I owe you my life now."
"Huh? Don’t be so dramatic. You got through it because of your own skill. By the way, your group must be interested in islands, right?"
Zachary Pierce rubbed his temples, trying to focus. "An island? Like the one you have? Of course we’re interested. But if getting it involves fending off monsters the way you did, we’re not strong enough for that yet."
Faye Yardley blinked. "It shouldn’t be the same process as mine. This is five people competing for ownership of a single island."
"Five? You don’t want it for yourself?"
"Mhm, I still have my hands full with my own island, I don’t want to add another. Just tell me if you want in or not."
"Of course we do. What are your conditions?"
Faye Yardley’s conditions were simple: if they could team up, they would first eliminate the outsiders. Then, it would be a fair competition between their group and her brother’s.
And if his group won the island, her brother’s people would have priority rights to settle there.
Naturally, this couldn’t be settled with just a verbal agreement. They had to sign a formal system contract.
The negotiations went smoothly, mainly because Zachary Pierce agreed so quickly.
It made sense. Unless they upgraded their guild right away, the people in their guild headquarters would also have to participate in system events.
Once a guild’s level is high enough, it gets a certain number of slots for members to stay behind at the headquarters, exempt from system events.
But that number was nothing compared to the residential capacity of an entire island.
After all, an island could house as many people as it could fit, provided they were willing to move there.
That was why Zachary Pierce could agree on the spot, even without consulting his people first.
What surprised him was that the leader of the Third Legion had also managed to get one, and he too agreed to sign the contract.
After all, this meant their alliance would hold three of the tokens. If they still lost to Faye Yardley’s brother in a fair competition, it would simply be their own fault. Besides, their groups had always maintained a friendly relationship, making communication easy.
He couldn’t refuse to sign just because he had his own Occupation Order. That would only alienate the siblings, which would be bad for the alliance’s unity and even worse for future relations with the Yardley Family siblings.
Once the four Island Occupation Orders were confirmed and used, the battle for the island officially began, even though the holder of the fifth token remained unknown.
Only the Token holders themselves could participate. It was completely impossible to call for reinforcements.
With nothing else to do, Faye Yardley went straight back to the base of the island to stare at the Silver Treasure Chest.
She knew her brother and the others had already begun the competition, but the protective shield around the island was still there, and there was no sound or movement from the island itself. ’Were they teleported somewhere else by the system?’
Faye Yardley took the special fishing rod from her backpack and started diligently casting her line toward the Silver Treasure Chest.
She managed to hook a large piece of jade, a cluster of iridescent grapes, and a massive tooth from some unknown animal, but she just couldn’t snag the treasure chest.
She could only glare in frustration, completely helpless.
A faint mist suddenly began to rise from within the underwater protective shield. Faye Yardley’s heart skipped a beat, and she quickly swam toward the surface. The mist grew thicker, forcing Faye to move away from the shield.
She kept a tight grip on the special fishing rod, not reeling it in.
Once she was a safe distance from the island, she broke the surface and whistled. Soon, Bella was galloping toward her.
As she swung herself onto Bella’s back, she felt a tug on the special fishing rod in her hand.
She gave a mighty heave, putting all her strength into it. With Bella’s help, she finally managed to haul the object up from the depths.
A flash of gold glinted.
A moment later, a locked Golden Treasure Chest was resting in Faye Yardley’s arms.
"Holy crap! I didn’t get the Silver Treasure Chest, but I ended up catching a Golden Treasure Chest! MUAHAHAHA... Bella, let’s go! We’re heading home."
She returned to her raft at 7 p.m. sharp. The sea was no longer as calm as it had been during the day.
A thick fog had rolled in ahead of the raft, making it impossible to see the surroundings.
Faye Yardley stood on the raft, gazing toward the island. ’Of course I hope my brother wins,’ she thought. ’But if he can’t, any of the other three would be fine. But what if all four of them lose to the fifth person...’
"No, that won’t happen. Luck is always on the side with more people! There’s strength in numbers, after all."
’As for the Golden Treasure Chest...’ She glanced down at the box still cradled in her arms. ’I’ll open it after I get back, have a bath, and change.’
’If I let it sit, I’ll just keep thinking about it and won’t be able to sleep. Better to just open it and get it over with.’
’A Golden Treasure Chest... I wonder what could be inside...’
