Book 4, Chapter 195: Trying Out The Techniques
Back in his house, Chen Chuan changed into casual clothes and went to his training room to read through the book.
Since a predecessor had left a mental mark on it, despite the diagrams consisting only of outlines of people drawn in ink, the author managed to accurately convey his meaning.
After reading through it, Chen Chuan shut the book and meditated on it to memorize everything.
His body hadn’t finished transforming, so he couldn’t start practicing the Fist of the Vast Sky. Fortunately, the Blinding Blaze mainly focused on the mind, so he could start with it.
There was also the Furnace of Heaven and Earth. It was the advanced version of Furnace Breathing Technique and complemented the other two techniques, so he was going to need it while training.
He started reviewing the Blinding Blaze.
This technique, too, had twelve moves. Each of them was named after the twelve astronomical phenomena from the old era.
After going through it, he went to the center of the room and positioned himself in the first stance.
On the surface, it was just like any other regular stance, but he was using his mental energy to move his mind, which meant that his mind played the dominant role, and his body was just going with the flow. When he would train the Fist of the Vast Sky, though, the body would play the dominant role, while the mind would act as the subordinate. Only when both were practiced together could they be considered whole.
However, due to the relatively high difficulty and lack of familiarity, the logical move was to practice them separately in the beginning.
When Chen Chuan moved into the first stance, he used the Furnace of Heaven and Earth.
While he was chatting with Zhuan Liang, he learned that Zhao Zhenye shouldn’t have learned this breathing technique. He had only mastered the Furnace Breathing Technique, which was taught to those in the Third Limit, so he should have developed his current one on his own based on his foundation.
All Fourth Limit martial artists had their own path. Once Chen Chuan familiarized himself with the Furnace of Heaven and Earth, he would develop his own version based on the foundation he had built so that it would be more suited for his needs.
With his mental energy and breathing technique circulating in him, he felt pressure building in his brain, and his mind felt like it was burning. At the same time, he started using up a lot of energy, which invigorated his mind.
He activated his spirit flames, and in an instant, golden-white light spilled out of his body, casting the training room in a bright light.
Because he was just starting out and was still unfamiliar with it, he couldn’t quite control it with his mind, and it kept flickering.
The Blinding Blaze’s stances were divided into active and passive stances, so his plan was to practise the passive stances first. Once he was used to them, he would move on to the active stances. Yet just maintaining the stance burned a large amount of mental energy and stamina. Chen Chuan had no doubt that if he started moving, he was going to use even more energy.
The amount of energy burned was based entirely on the individual. So, just because he had a good foundation, it didn’t mean that he would be using less energy. Everyone ran into the same problem. Chen Chuan didn’t mind it much, since it was the only way he could achieve his goal of refining his mind.
After staying in the stance for a little over an hour, he felt mentally exhausted, which was something rare.
Based on the information he received, regardless of whether it was the Fist of the Vast Sky, the Blinding Blaze, or even the Furnace of Heaven and Earth, he needed to take a lot of nutrient and calorie-dense nutritional paste while training. He also needed the correct medicine to replenish his energy.
He would need to think of ways to get those things.
For the moment, he didn’t have them, but he was only trying out the moves. Besides, it wasn’t as if he didn’t have any way to recover his energy.
Chen Chuan went to the side and drew the Frost King Saber to open a thin and long gap. In an instant, bright light spilled over.
Chen Chuan sat down cross-legged in front of it and began absorbing the energy from the other side.
When paired together, the Blinding Blaze and the Furnace of Heaven and Earth were amazing during training, but when it came to helping his mind recover, Chen Chuan felt that the breathing technique from the Observance of the Gold Planet was much better at absorbing energy.
As he used it, he started recovering all the energy that he had burned... Hmm?
Just then, he sensed something.
The energy he absorbed from the other world always came corrupted. It was highly dangerous, and Chen Chuan usually had his second self withstand it.
Since his second self was still recovering, Chen Chuan didn’t spend too much time absorbing energy from the other world, but after trying out the move, he found that his second self had gotten closer to him, even though it was just by a bit.
He hadn’t fought against anyone over the past few days, so did it mean that the Blinding Blaze let him resonate with his second self?
Chen Chuan thought about the energy he burned just now, along with how much he had to concentrate. It was about the same amount of effort he had to put into fighting against a powerful opponent. He would even go as far as to say that when he fought against regular opponents, he wouldn’t be this focused, so it was no wonder why his second self had responded in such a way.
Now, he had even more reason to practice the secret techniques.
When he cast a glance at the floor, he noticed that it had cracked, sunken, and turned gray-white. The damage even spread several meters away from where he stood.
This was a custom-made floor, but when he released his spirit flames, it got damaged. If Chen Chuan hadn’t restrained himself, the floor may have broken through altogether.
It seemed like he would have to go somewhere else to train.
Since he lacked medicine for now, he had to do it here.
As for where he was going to get his medicine? Of course he was going to ask for it from the municipal government. Since they had agreed to supply him with the things he needed to train, he had to make them keep their promise.
While it was easy to get the medicine he needed in the beginning of his training, once he moved further down his path, he was going to need really rare medicine. At that time, he would need to look for other channels.
While thinking about it, he turned on his Realm Pass. In just a while, he received a call from Qiao Yang and answered it.
Qiao Yang greeted him before telling him that the World Ring Defense System and the Department of Administrative Affairs had received his request to leave for the island nations, and they were okay with it. Ocean Development Corporation was going to send an airship to pick him up, and he could leave as early as tomorrow morning. He could pick the time he wanted.
Since the longer Chen Chuan dragged it out, the more variables could appear, so he should get it settled as soon as possible. He said that he wanted to leave tomorrow.
Qiao Yang promised to get things ready.
With the time set, Chen Chuan didn’t continue training. Instead, he started getting ready for his trip. He was going to bring Dawncall once again. As for the Frost King Saber, he decided after some deliberation that he was bringing it along too. Since the mutated tissue inside it needed to go through a transformation, it would be best to keep it by his side.
He also took some of the things he had brought to the merged space. It wasn’t as if they weighed a ton, and they might be useful.
The only thing he found a pity was that this was only going to be a spar, so he wasn’t going to collect any weapons.

The next morning, Chen Chuan got into his limousine and headed to Oceanway District. On his way, he didn’t see any other cars. This wasn’t to protect him, but to prevent other people from getting into an accident or any unnecessary conflicts. This was a form of protection for other people.
When they reached the harbor, he saw a large airship at the mooring tower. The military and security guards had cleared the place long ago.
A professional-looking man in a uniform stood at the front of the group. He appeared to be in his fifties. When he saw Chen Chuan get out, he saluted him and said sternly, “Hello, Mr. Chen. I’m Feng Wu, pilot of Ocean Development Corporation’s Light Chaser. I’ll be in charge of bringing you around for your trip.”
A security guard captain stood behind Feng Wu, but he had quite a stiff expression. Since he was a martial artist, even if Chen Chuan wasn’t showing him any hostility, his mutated tissue was uneasy and screaming at him to stay away.
Chen Chuan gave both of them a nod before boarding the airship. Aside from him, there were no other passengers.
The airship was built in the manner of airships for martial arts masters. It had three levels and contained a training room, dining room, as well as entertainment facilities.
Somehow, they had gotten to know that he liked movies, so there were tons of domestic and foreign movies stored in the domain entity in the airship. Some foreign movies even had subtitles and dubs, so he could pick whichever version he liked.
Aside from these, Azure Dragon and Ocean Development Corporation had even found a documentary of a martial arts master for him.
Chen Chuan was very interested in that, so once the airship rose up, he went straight to the screening room and asked the logistics officer on board to play the documentary.
It told the experiences of a martial arts master from the Linacrox Union.
He was a proper citizen of the Linacrox Union, but after he became a martial arts master, he declared that the native Oceanlanders were treated unfairly and ran off to their only remaining holy land to receive an initiation ceremony. Once he drank the blood of the ancestors, he became a native.
From then on, he started going about the Linacrox Union to appeal for the rights of native Oceanlanders and fighting to protect them.
After a media outlet got his permission, they filmed a documentary. He showed off unique martial arts techniques and shared some of his experiences for them.
Chen Chuan guessed that this martial arts master had taken the path of the other form. Even though he didn’t say it directly, his reference point looked to be a native god.
He said that he had been trying to get all the inheritances belonging to the natives back from the Linacrox Union, and that he was going to spend the rest of his life doing that.
The Linacrox Union was unlikely to tolerate such a person’s existence, and based on the translation and the crew who filmed the documentary, this martial arts master had gotten the Great Shun Republic’s support.
As always, the Great Shun Republic and the Linacrox Union were sabotaging each other.
The first half of the documentary was the martial arts master talking about his personal growth, his deeds, and the reasons behind them. Chen Chuan didn’t know whether he changed his stance because he gave up on something or embraced something he originally disliked, but that wasn’t what he was interested in. However, out of respect for another martial arts master, he patiently finished this section. Then, the second half arrived, which was the reason he had turned the documentary on.
