Book 4, Chapter 13: Luowang Island

Chen Chuan had asked his friends to meet at Douyi Hotel at noon on the twenty-fifth of June.

Wei Changan’s group, Feng Xiaoqi, Luo Kaiyuan, Ren Xiaotian, and Lin Xiaodi had all arrived.

Even though they hadn’t met face-to-face for a long time, they occasionally kept in touch on the phone. After exchanging a few words, they warmed up to each other again. A moment later, the waiters served their food.

Feng Xiaoqi grabbed his chopsticks and said to Luo Kaiyuan, “Don’t you feel like now that Wu Han and Wei Dong are gone, something’s missing?”

Luo Kaiyuan agreed with that. When those two were around, all the food in front of them looked especially appetizing. Then, an eager light shone in his eyes. “Wei Dong has been studying in Martial Valor University for a long time. He must have become much stronger now.”

“He must be way ahead of us...” Feng Xiaoqi mumbled.

In the past, they were about the same level, but Wei Dong was skilled in body hardening techniques, so he was able to last until the very end. He had a lot more potential than the other two, which was why he had stood out and made it into the main campus.

Once he was in Central City, he could get more resources, so he had to have improved even faster.

A serious look appeared on Luo Kaiyuan’s face as he said, “Once we go to Central City, we need to work hard to catch up to him, Xiaoqi.”

Feng Xiaoqi nodded.

Meanwhile, Wei Changan was talking to Chen Chuan.

“You asked us to postpone our plans to go to Central City last time, so we didn’t go and took the time to wrap up all loose ends. How are things there now?”

“Everything was settled a few days ago,” Chen Chuan answered.

“What happened there? Was it something even Central City couldn’t handle?” Cai Si asked.

The others looked over as well. They, too, were curious about this.

Those who never went to Central City before all had a filtered view about the place. Even after hearing all the tales Chen Chuan shared with them, they couldn’t imagine what could possibly affect the city.

“According to the government, the Linacrox Union conducted illegal biological experiments in the past, which led to a large number of creatures invading Central City. Some mercenary groups also backed by them used this chance to stir up chaos. Because of this, the government imposed martial law for a few days.

“During that time, Central City conducted strict checks on all people entering the city. If they detected anything suspicious, they immediately captured them. That’s why it wasn’t a good choice to go to the city at that time.”

The group understood what had happened and exchanged looks. Chen Chuan had specifically mentioned that it was set up by the government, so clearly, there was another story. It just wasn’t suitable for them to know it, regardless of whether Chen Chuan knew the truth or not.

“Is it safe now?” Cai Si asked.

“Everything has returned to normal. You won’t have any problems going to Central City anymore,” Chen Chuan assured him.

“Alright. Let’s get ready. We’ll head to Central City in a few days,” Wei Changan declared with a slap on the table.

Chen Chuan nodded. All the people here had great potential, so they could only grow in Central City. Since the other world was getting closer to theirs, all talented people worthy of being trained were valuable.

Gao Ming had suggested that Chen Chuan should support all Yangzhi City locals who went to Central City, and he agreed with that, but he was about to head to the island nations soon, so he was only going to be able to get the specifics down after coming back.

Once they had lunch together, they decided on a way to keep in contact. Then, they parted ways, and Chen Chuan headed home.

When he was in his room, he took out a map of the island nations, which he had brought back from Central City, and took a look.

Based on the information Zhuan Liang passed to him, the gap was in a place called Mistlight Island. If he traveled there through normal means, he would need up to ten days to reach it.

It was now the end of June. If he set aside some time to do other things, it would leave him with one month to train.

Airships were the fastest, but they were affected by weather and turbulence. Besides, Chen Chuan had checked and learned that there was no fixed aviation route headed straight to the island. He would need to transfer flights halfway through. After some thinking, he decided to take a ferry there.

Two days ago, he had already asked a logistician to book a ticket for him, and he was set to leave on the twenty-eighth, which was three days later.

When Yu Wan heard that Chen Chuan had a three-month-long holiday, she had wanted him to visit his other aunt when he was free, because she lived quite far away, and her family was in the military, so it wasn’t easy for them to visit each other. They could only send each other gifts at the New Year.

Judging by the situation, he would only have the chance to visit them when he had more time in the future.

Chen Chuan also had plenty of other things to do, aside from going to the gap.

Three days later, he picked up Dawncall and said goodbye to his family before getting into his limousine. After traveling for more than ten hours, he reached Farsight Harbor again.

This time, since he was leaving to train and his stated reason for leaving was to go on a trip abroad, he didn’t intend to bring his escort team. After he reached the harbor, he asked them to wait in the Resolution Department for further orders.

It was now 9 a.m.. With bright sunlight shining on him, Chen Chuan walked to the boarding ramp with his luggage bag and Dawncall beside him.

He had booked a first-class cabin for himself, so he had the right to board the ferry first.

Once he showed his ticket, the security guard immediately stepped aside, and a crew member removed the barrier rope. Then, another crew member carried his luggage bag to his cabin.

Most of the cruise line businesses heading to the island nations were under Azure Dragon and Ocean Development Corporation, but due to the limitations set on them by the Great Shun Republic’s government, a few other cruise companies existed. The ticket Chen Chuan picked belonged to a small company.

This was mainly because he had a sensitive status, and those two companies would immediately start paying attention to him. Then, it would be hard for him to move around as he pleased.

Once Chen Chuan reached his cabin, he took a look around and found it satisfactory. He had an independent living space in the cabin, along with a living room, dining area, a kitchenette, and a private balcony. He even had his own attendant and a private training room.

There was also a larger public training room in the ferry. It was so big that it occupied almost the entire deck. Wagered duels were staged at night there, but Chen Chuan wasn’t interested in them.

After setting his things down, he changed and went to the training room to begin his daily training. At noon, he went to the restaurant to have lunch before going back to continue with his training.

In the evening, the ferry finally set sail. Under the sky dyed red in the colors of dusk, the ferry cut through the deep blue waves and sailed to the island nations.

Over the next few days, aside from his daily training and trying to figure out his Heartborn Force, Chen Chuan spent the rest of his time relaxing. He admired the ocean view, tried out tasty food, and watched the various programs on the ferry.

Eight days later, the ferry reached Luowang Island’s harbor.

Luowang Island was a famous holiday island. The locals worshipped a goddess named Ahena. Apparently, she created the marine life around the island and suppressed the sea monsters trying to break free of the ocean every day.

Every month, the locals organized a grand worship ceremony. However, as tourism rose to prominence on the island, the worship ceremony basically ended up as a performance with singing and dancing.

Mistlight Island—Chen Chuan’s true destination—wasn’t too far from it, but there was no naval route going straight to the island. He needed to look for another ferry headed there.

After he got off the ferry, he asked around and learned that he would need around half a day to reach Mistlight Island. Since there was an active volcano there, the island had few inhabitants. Recently, the island had also been plagued by frequent earthquakes, so few people went there. However, the island residents came to Luowang Island every half a month to buy goods, so he could go to Mistlight Island the next time the residents came here.

Unfortunately, it had only been three days since the last time the island residents came shopping, which meant that Chen Chuan would have to wait for more than ten days, which was far too long.

Chen Chuan was sure that he could find someone willing to bring him over. He was unfamiliar with the place, though, so he went to the sheriff of the harbor town, paid him some money, and asked him to get someone to send him to the island.

The sheriff promised that he would get the deed done within three days after pocketing Chen Chuan’s money.

Chen Chuan got himself checked into a hotel.

As a holiday island, Luowang Island had beautiful scenery. It was July right now, so the island was covered in beautiful Roses of Sharon. Tourists filled the white beaches, and white sails could be seen on the blue seawater.

The island had plenty of unique food as well, such as raw fish marinated in coconut milk and orange juice, prawns and pork roasted over charcoal, along with fresh tropical fruits. Chen Chuan tried everything that he could eat and bought some local handicrafts. Aside from some he would keep as mementos, he also got souvenirs to give to others.

He hadn’t brought a lot of things with him. Aside from the Frost King Saber and clothes, he only had some gold tickets from Grand Prosperity Finance. Since there were cash exchange stations on the island, he didn’t need to worry about his spending.

Two days later, the sheriff sent news that he had found a person willing to bring him to Mistlight Island.
