Book 4, Chapter 121: Destroying The Camp
The moment the intruder showed up, the machine guns fixed in the monitoring room started firing.
But the bullets just fell off and clattered on the floor.
The intruder didn’t do anything aside from flicking his wrist. Then, the heads of a number of gunmen with mental protective items and thick protective gear burst open.
The sound of machine gun fire stopped. Only the echoes remained.
The security guards sent to the campsite were all well-trained elites. They didn’t fall back just because the machine gun fire had stopped. They took out their guns and started firing. In an instant, gunshots from various types of guns rose and fell in the room.
However, the next moment, the intruder vanished from the entrance. Then, a security guard found himself flying into the air. He wasn’t the only one. All those using guns in the room were the same.
Chen Chuan stopped briefly. His overcoats and scarf swung forward violently due to inertia for a moment. Just as he stopped, rumbling sounds came from the trembling metal walls around him. Behind him, the suspended security guards fell back on the floor.
He hadn’t actually attacked anyone, but simply ran past at an extremely high speed. The power he generated just by doing that was enough to send them flying.
When the last security guard fell and Chen Chuan heard no other sound, he turned his gaze back. The monitoring room was in a three-story building. Most of the other combatants weren’t on the surface, but in an underground bunker.
Chen Chuan walked down the metal staircase. After turning a corner, the security guards who had already taken stimulants tried to use their flamethrowers on him.
But they were just too slow, and their actions were reflected clearly in his mind and biofield. When the staircase was filled with scorching flames, Chen Chuan arrived behind one of them.
With a pebble in his palm, he struck the back of the guard’s head, and the pebble flew forward. The heads of this guard and the one standing across from him exploded, and the rolling flames surged up.
Chen Chuan didn’t spend time observing it. He simply continued down. Once there, he opened the door to a small artillery gun pointing at him. With a loud bang, it let out a blazing spark, and the artillery gun jolted.
The same thing happened again. The artillery gun was large but useless. In Chen Chuan’s eyes, everyone’s movements were incredibly slow. While the artillery muzzle trembled, he had already arrived next to the operator and punched him, causing the man’s body to slam into the jolting artillery gun. It slammed back down onto the floor, then sank into the custom-made floors in a mangled mess.
Once the echoes faded away, the room became silent. Chen Chuan turned to an open metallic well not far away. It had a metal ladder that led further down.

Lenuva was hiding in the lowest level of the underground bunker. It was also the largest room in the entire campsite, because they had modified it from an insect’s nest.
He knew that he couldn’t face an intruder of this caliber head-on, but that didn’t mean that there was nothing for him to do. There was a large amount of powerful explosives under his feet.
He looked up as he gripped the railing tightly. If the intruder came after him, he was going to detonate the bombs and blast them both to smithereens. Even Third Limit martial artists wouldn't be able to endure it. The intruder would die, but even if he didn’t, he’d be heavily injured.
Of course, he didn’t want to die together with that lead investigator, which was why he was standing in a fortified safe room. He had even injected recovery medicine already. With all the defenses and his physical abilities as a martial artist, he might be able to make it out alive.

Chen Chuan took a look at his Realm Pass. There were around ten people below, and they were all nervous. However, when he was walking over, his mind detected danger.
He narrowed his eyes and chose not to go down. Instead, he turned around and left the building. He even shut the door behind him.
After he left, he checked the area. Right away, he found a large amount of algae fuel in a warehouse. There was also a cargo truck nearby, so he loaded the algae fuel into the truck and drove around the campsite pouring it in every important location.
After going through the entire place, Chen Chuan picked up the spear and lit up the algae fuel. Soon, the campsite went up in flames, and black smoke rose into the sky.
***
Yang Yuncheng saw the entire thing from the cliff beyond the campsite. It was as if Chen Chuan had entered a deserted place and turned it upside down all on his own. Passion burned in his chest. When he saw Chen Chuan setting the campsite on fire, he could no longer sit still on the cliff. He ran down toward the campsite.

Even after waiting for a long time, the intruder didn’t come into the underground bunker. The only change was that the temperature had started rising. Finally, Lenuva sensed that something was off and ran out of the safe room. Through a periscope, he checked the surface and saw scorching flames in every direction. Dread pooled in his heart.
To his great dismay, he realized that even if he hid here, it was useless. The intruder had simply set the outside on fire. He didn’t need to come down.
There were plenty of generators outside, and they were all powered by algae fuel. Since they had to burn countless swarms of insects too, they had loads of algae fuel stored in the warehouse. They had enough to burn the entire campsite to the ground, including this three-story building.
If he continued staying in the bunker, he was going to die.
But it was also meaningless to go out and fight the intruder. It was the same as him handing over his head on a silver platter.
He returned to the safe room in despair and pulled down the detonation rod.
Boom!
The building exploded. The shockwave blasted the roof several hundred meters into the sky.

Yang Yuncheng had just run into the campsite when he heard the explosion. It was loud enough to make his ears ring. The trembling ground also nearly threw him off his feet. He shook his head fiercely to regain his composure.
Chen Chuan stood on a platform in the distance. From there, he could see everything clearly. He looked up at the black smoke rising into the sky before checking his Realm Pass. The life force signals from the last few people had vanished.
A few more explosions rang out around the campsite when the flames lit up explosives installed for protection
With a loud rumble, the tall mooring tower slowly toppled to the side and collapsed.
Chen Chuan’s jade mask reflected the light from the burning flames. The wind from the explosions and flames caused his overcoats and scarf to flutter nonstop.
When Yang Yuncheng reached him, he was stunned at the sight before him.
Chen Chuan saw him too and removed his mask. “What brought you here, Mr. Yang?”
Yang Yuncheng took a moment to take in the area in excitement. He had never thought that Chen Chuan would be able to destroy it by himself.
If Chen Chuan had told him beforehand that he was going to do this, he wouldn’t have believed him, but when it happened in front of his eyes, he felt a little dazed. He stared at the sight before him to hammer it into his mind that this was truly happening.
Yang Yuncheng did his best to calm down, but when he spoke, his excitement still leaked through. “Lead Investigator Chen, I was watching you from above and came over to see if you need any help, but I don’t think you do. You’ve already destroyed the campsite. This was your mission, right? You’ve already succeeded!”
“No, I haven’t.” Chen Chuan shook his head.
“You haven’t?” Yang Yuncheng was baffled.
Chen Chuan cast a glance at the forest in the distance. “This is just their rear. Their main force isn’t here. They’ve gone inside to fight for the artifact. Those people are my real targets.”
Yang Yuncheng nodded. It seemed like he was still far too reserved in his assumptions. Based on the strength Chen Chuan displayed, his words made sense. Still, he could not help but ask, “Are you going there alone? Don’t you have anyone to liaise with you?”
“My colleagues went in first. I’m their liaison officer,” Chen Chuan replied.
“I see...” Yang Yuncheng mulled it over before saying seriously, “That means that you’re going deep into the undeveloped area, aren’t you?”
Chen Chuan nodded.
Yang Yuncheng looked outside the campsite and said, “There are a number of sentry towers on the way with a lot of enemies. Please rest. Leave those people to me. I’ll take care of them.”
Chen Chuan wasn’t actually tired, since he didn’t use too much energy. However, he knew that Yang Yuncheng, who was a former soldier, couldn’t tolerate the idea of a comrade rushing to the front while he stayed by the side and did nothing.
Besides, Yang Yuncheng had been part of a development squad, so he wouldn’t have any problem getting rid of the remaining sentries, so Chen Chuan didn’t reject his offer.
“I’ll leave it to you, Mr. Yang.”
Yang Yuncheng nodded earnestly. “I’ll handle it.”
Then, he dashed out. A gust of wind rushed over from the blazing flames to blow his hood back and reveal his graying hair. However, his remaining eye held great determination, and he stayed decisive and brave.

After the airship left the campsite, it flew for an entire afternoon before reaching the closest communication port in the Union and Linacrox Union’s true rear. Then, an emergency telegram was sent to their temporary bases in Central City.
