Roadmap to the Boundless Sky

Book 4, Chapter 102: Meeting

Book 4, Chapter 102: Meeting

Han Fu coughed a few times to spit out the shattered teeth and blood in his mouth. Then, he used his hands and feet to scramble up.

Blood essence kept pumping out of his heart to heal his injuries.

He staggered back a few steps before finally straightening his back. He was about to turn around to fight Chen Chuan when he felt a powerful blow to his back, and his torso jutted out in an unnatural fashion before he was sent flying again.

After a moment, his blood essence repaired his body, and he stood up again. But the results were the same as before. Once again, he was sent flying by a powerful force he could not hope to fight.

Over the next ten or so minutes, the scene kept repeating itself. Whenever Han Fu was brought to his knees, he stubbornly climbed to his feet again, but the moment he did, he was sent face down on the ground again. Every time, he was given the time to recover, but once he wanted to fight back, he was mercilessly pummeled.

Chen Chuan was doing this to tell him that he was unworthy of standing and could only lie defeated on the ground.

Han Fu lost his composure after a while, and his eyes turned bloodshot as his chest heaved.

All those watching felt Han Fu’s helplessness from being hit while having no way of fighting back, so it only made sense that he was enveloped in even greater despair. He couldn’t accept such a defeat.

“Hah!”

With a loud shout, a wave of mental energy spread out from him. The pebbles around them jumped while the insects collapsed.

However, in order to capture Han Fu, the officers had come prepared. The closest one that wasn’t Chen Chuan was more than five hundred meters away, so none of them got affected.

Chen Chuan treated the mental energy as a light breeze against his skin as he continued forward. Han Fu instinctively threw a punch at him, but Chen Chuan grabbed his wrist, and a wind blast exploded from the point of contact. Along with it came the sounds of bones being crushed.

Han Fu’s face turned vicious. He ignored his broken arm and activated his Heartborn Force, but no matter how he sent the Three Forms Force into Chen Chuan, nothing happened. He received no feedback whatsoever.

The brutal beatdown hurt his body, and this dealt a huge blow to his confidence in his martial prowess.

Chen Chuan didn’t change his grip, but ripples appeared on Han Fu’s arm. This was a sign that he had scattered the refined force sent into him and sent it right back into Han Fu.

Bang!

The blood and flesh on his arm exploded.

Han Fu tilted back with a groan and staggered half a step back while coughing up a mouthful of blood mixed with bits and pieces of his organs. He swayed on his feet.

He had used a large amount of blood essence to heal the arm broken by Lead Investigator Wen, and during the “fight” just now, he kept squeezing it out to heal his injuries. By now, he had practically depleted it and no longer had the strength to continue.

Chen Chuan let go of him and jabbed the center of Han Fu’s brow at lightning speed. The man shuddered before taking a few steps back. A moment later, blood and torn flesh gushed out of his body and limbs. Once they landed on the ground, Han Fu’s entire body, except for his head, was stripped of blood and flesh. Only his skeleton and some mutated tissue on his organs remained.

Even so, he was alive. A Third Limit martial artist’s vitality kept him breathing. Most of his mutated tissue had been destroyed by a yielding force, so his recovery was halted, and he was barely alive at this point.

The Resolution Department officers on either side of the road stared in shock and horror at Han Fu’s bloody skeleton staggering forward a few steps before dropping to his knees. Then, he fell face down.

The road fell silent.

Chen Chuan watched Han Fu for a while before walking over to grab his spine and hoisting him up. At this point, Han Fu had no blood or flesh, so he weighed nothing.

If not for the fact that they needed to extract some information from him to figure out who was supporting him with evidence, Chen Chuan would have killed him on the spot.

Instead, he gave instructions into his Realm Pass. The Resolution Department officers on both sides walked over with guns trained on Han Fu’s security team demanding them to get down.

None of them resisted. They obediently handed over their weapons, let the officers put on special handcuffs on them, and walked to the prisoner transport van.

Once Chen Chuan stuffed Han Fu into the van as well and secured him, he looked around. Everyone was staring at him. “According to the higher-ups, from now on, I will be taking over all affairs in the Resolution Department,” he declared to all the officers in the area and those back in the Resolution Department.

“Understood!” they shouted back in unison.

Their voices were so loud that they reverberated through the entire street. Even those far beyond the area could hear the echoes.

Chen Chuan retrieved the Frost King Saber and went back to his limousine. Once he settled down, he said, “Pack up. We’re going back.”

The armored cars in charge of locking down the area began leaving. The airships trailed behind the motorcade.

Chen Chuan instructed his telegraph clerk to send a telegram through a secret frequency to Mr. Cao that he had settled everything.

Mr. Cao should have already learned about what had happened, but it was the procedure.

Chen Chuan had been able to learn the truth right away because there was a National General Affairs Bureau mole planted beside Han Fu.

Even though he didn’t trust any of his team and drugged his subordinates as well as used mental techniques to brainwash them before attacking Lead Investigator Wen, the mole had set up some defenses and quickly recovered from the brainwashing. After regaining his memories, he sent the information out.

After only a few minutes, Chen Chuan received a reply. Once he read it, he turned his attention to the road ahead. They needed to proceed with interrogation right away.

Han Fu’s actions screamed that someone was supporting him. Chen Chuan also needed to think of a way to draw out the enemy lurking in Martial Valor University.

Around ten minutes later, they returned to the Resolution Department.

Once Chen Chuan entered the department, he started making arrangements for interrogation. They hadn’t just arrested Han Fu and his security team, but also captured Han Fu’s subordinates in the department.

Before they set out to arrest Han Fu, they had arrested Han Fu’s remaining supporters and teammates.

Since this was a special circumstance, they could not afford to show any mercy. Even if someone was only under the slightest bit of suspicion, they were taken in. The department was going to start screening them later.

While making arrangements, Chen Chuan noticed that he had received a message. He hadn’t noticed it before, but soon realized that it had been planted in his Realm Pass without going through any domain communication entity.

His expression changed, and he immediately told Zou Jinxin that he had to leave for a bit. Zou Jinxin would be in charge of the department’s safety in the meantime.

Zou Jinxin was Xu Chan’s most trusted partner and a squad captain. He was also currently the only squad captain left in the department, so giving him the reins would ensure that everything went smoothly.

Chen Chuan went downstairs and drove to the harbor at Glowing Dew District. He parked his car and got out.

The harbor had been deserted a moment ago, but when he looked up, he saw a person standing nearby with his hands in his pockets and staring at the sparkling waves under the sun.

He walked over and exclaimed, “You’re back, Mr. Xue!”

Xue Shou smiled. “I did say that I’d be back. This is that time.”

I wasn’t expecting you to come back so early. I thought you’d return much later, Chen Chuan thought.

But he also knew that martial arts masters couldn’t go wherever they liked, so he had to have come because something was going on.

“Are you here on business, Mr. Xue?” he asked.

Xue Shou cast a glance at the airship flying over them. At that moment, it was as if his eyes crossed vast distances over the ocean, and he stared at a target high above them.

“A certain person has been lingering outside Central City for a long time, and someone needs to keep them in line,” he said.

Chen Chuan nodded.

It’s because of this. It makes sense.

“I said that I’d come back after some time to check on your progress, but you’ve improved really quickly. You exceeded my expectations.”

Xue Shou gave him a meaningful look. “You’re already at this stage, huh? I thought you’d need some time to reach it, but now, it seems like I can give you certain things ahead of time.”

He reached into his pocket and took something out before tossing it over.

Chen Chuan caught it and took a look. The thing resembled a piece of fruit. In terms of shape, it looked like a small, unripe mandarin orange.

“When you think the time is right, eat it,” Xue Shou instructed.

It did not look like he was going to explain it, so Chen Chuan decided not to ask and just nodded. He put it into his pocket.

“I said before that I’ll teach you for half a year. I’m going to be staying at Martial Valor University, so if you still have any questions about mental training, you can contact me through the university’s platform,” Xue Shou offered.

“Alright,” Chen Chuan replied.

Just then, he heard a chime on his Realm Pass. When he looked at the notification, he found that it was a call from the person in charge of the interrogation division. He excused himself from Xue Shou and answered, “How are things?”

“Lead Investigator Chen, Lead In—Han Fu says he’d like to see you,” the person said.

Chen Chuan’s gaze sharpened. “I’ll come back right away.”

Once he finished his call and looked up, the harbor was deserted once again.

Xue Shou was no longer anywhere to be found.
